I would not do the local bus again to Tronchetto and would take a taxi.  That is what we are going to be doing when we return on the 18th (take a taxi from Tronchetto to hotel and then if we want to go back into Venice we we’ll take the bus over to visit the city once we drop off our bags).  The cruise had been beautiful, but getting to Ravenna and back has definitely been a pain.

Thank you for that...not sure I like pain🤣  Enjoy the rest of your cruise and I hope the trip back to venice goes well. 😀

  2. Firstly let me say how much I'm enjoying your review, your style is very easy to read.  I have been looking at cruises out of Ravenna but the journey to the port puts me off.  I have absolutely no sense of direction and the thought of finding my way to Tronchetto scares me!  I have seen people struggling with suitcases over all these bridges in Venice.  The heat and stress does of that does not appeal but the itinerary of the cruise is appealing so I'm in a quandary.

I have been to Venice a few times on cruises but was lucky enough to sail along the Grand Canal in fact the first cruise we were tendered and the shuttle took us near to St Marks Square.

How much did RCCL charge for the transfer and what is your honest opinion for someone with no sense of direction!  Thank you

Perhaps that do that on purpose knowing that lots of people won't question a bar charge & let it slide.

Royal Caribbean show details of the Bar or the Theatre etc.  It makes it so much easier as you know if you were actually in that bar.  Makes you think it must be to their benefit.

  4. I find the way Princess set out their accounts quite strange.  They know exactly where the charge has taken place but just state Bar.   I was at Guest Services for another reason and asked about a Bar Charge and it was Gelato which I didn't have a problem with but why state Bar?

  5. Have you checked in on the App?  Once you have checked in and it has all your details it will change to Green Lane and you select your boarding time.  I had to complete all my daughters details before it changed to Green Lane and produced a QR code.

We've just checked and the prices have dropped. When we added it up though once we had knocked off the deposit loss we would save about £200, but am worried that if we cancel and then try to rebook we may not be able to have the upgrade seats we managed to get. Not sure if it is worth the risk,

Good prices though now for anyone who is booking now !!!!!

That was also a concern but the girl confirmed upgrade seats etc were available before the original one was cancelled.

Well thank you everyone. We have just moved the cruise from Azura to the Caribbean in January 2024.

Aft cabin E deck so we are more than happy. Many thanks for the heads up re the flight seats WOWZZ we had no idea about those.

Anyway, have paid £6696 with £600 on board spend for the cruise including the premium seats for the flight so are well happy with that. Off to change my signature now --- excited already !!!!!

    Thank you everyone 🙂

Just a heads up.  My daughter booked a cruise last week to Caribbean on Arvia Jan 24.  Checked today and the price dropped £1,800.   Phoned P&O and had to cancel original cruise and re-book new cruise.  Lost original deposit but overall saved £1,200.  Worth checking out!

It was £204 pp each way.

When we considered the price of the cruise and the on board spend (and as it was a special cruise) we thought 'what the heck'. When we looked at the benefits it seemed the best thing to do as it is a long flight and the perks seem really good.

Thanks for that.  My daughter are her boyfriend are going to the Caribbean for his 30th and I was going to upgrade them as a present so that is good to know.

Hi,  If you don't mind could you tell me how much it cost to upgrade to premium seats.  Thanks

We are booked on the May 8, 2023, Princess British Isles Cruise.  We are scheduled to arrive back in Southampton at 6:00 am.  Can someone who's been on one this year tell me what time they started disembarkation?  We had a flight from Southampton to Dublin booked to leave at 11:30, but it was changed to 7:30 so we will not make that. There is another flight that leaves at 9:15.  In looking at Google maps, it's only about a 20 minute drive to the airport.  I know LOTS of things can impact how soon we can get off the ship, but generally disembarkation is about the same time on each cruise if things go as planned.

Also, if we decide to book something from London, does anyone know why the first transfer from the ship leaves?  There is an 11:00 flight from Heathrow, but on Princess they are recommending a flight no earlier than Noon.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as we try to determine if we could make either flight.

If you are flying in from USA just be aware that the Coronation of the King will be in London on Saturday 6th May.  This could affect flight and hotel prices if you have not already booked.

We bought some OBC (paid in sterling) for our recent cruise on Sky Princess and only used about half of it. When we received the information about disembarkation it said that anyone with less than $250 refundable OBC could get it refunded from Guest Services in cash, so we did that the afternoon of our last full day on board. We had already given our cabin steward an additional tip (in Euros) so didn't use the cash for that but it would certainly have been possible.

That is very good to know as it is Sky Princess we will be going on.  Thank you.

No, you cannot swop OBC for cash. However,  you can, I believe,  "launder" obc through the casino - never done it, perhaps others will explain how it is done.

Does this still apply if I have actually purchased the OBC?

  13. Firstly I live in the the UK and currently the rate Princess are giving when purchasing OBC is very good for us.

I have paid Gratuities but am wondering if I have OBC would I be able to get cash from guest services to give extra to crew.
