    I then transfer to my agent who gives a sizable discount on full world cruises.

    I haven't used a travel agent yet, preferring to book directly with the cruise line.  For me, it's more a matter of the level of control I want/need in handling questions/issues that might arise.  I prefer to deal directly with the cruise company rather than having to explain my issue or question to a travel agent and hope that they understood what I was asking when they then talk to the cruise line. Then there's a delay for the agent to get a response from the cruise company, and then relate it to me.  The risk is that the travel agent may have misunderstood either me or the cruise line's response.  I think I had a few too many negative experiences when I as traveling fairly frequently internationally on business some years ago.  I have to say that Regent was wonderful to work with as the World Cruise ended earlier this year.  I really think dealing directly with them helped with the relatively smooth operation to disembark, transfers to hotel in Perth, and business/first-class flights all the way home to Washington state in the US.  

     

    If I'm dropping 6 figures on a world cruise, I really need to be able to get answers quickly and accurately.  I've talked to a few agents recommended by friends but I don't see the "value added" other than (perhaps) some additional OBC.  I already get OBC from the various promotions as well as stockholder benefits, and on Regent, it's difficult to spend it as everything is included in the fare.  For me, the stress level just isn't worth it.

    looking at prices....Princess seems the most reasonable....any ideas if there is ever a sale on a world cruise? balcony is what we can do....any ideas, please reach out to me....thanks...

    Insurance for a world cruise and excursions

    I used Travel Guard for my 2014 WV which was 118 days. I liked the fact that they worked with me and increased the area (medical) that I felt was the most important. My TA at that time recommended Allianz but they were $1500 more for $25,000 worth of medical insurance where the Travel Guard policy had $100,000. (Allianz would not customize the policy.)

     

     

    I have used Travel guard also on my last 3 World Cruises. I was very satisfied when I had a large claim 14K$$ . They paid promptly and no hassle factor.

     

    There coverage limits are much higher than cruise lines pay.

    regarding the pacific Princess. We are elite on Princess and did the full world in 2015 and 2016. On the plus side the dining room is incredible. The food and service terrific. The room stewards are wonderful. However Princess repeats a lot of the things on each segment. I believe it to be wonderful for a segment or two but Dreary for a full world Cruise .

    The small ship feeling is wonderful but it also limits the public spaces because of its size and does not have a full promanade.

     

    The small intimate theater makes it difficult to view the shows as it's virtually all at the same level. And when used as a movie theater in the afternoon with rare exception you cannot see over the head of the person in front of you.

     

    The balcony rooms are more reasonable than on Holland and the West Coast round-trip is very convenient, but on a world cruise the attributes of the ship are very important. and the Pacific Princess does not do it for us. We have switched to the MS Amsterdam. No negatives for us on the ship.

    All t mobile plans give free international text and internet in most ports.

    Last year on Princess world cruise the only port I could not get free service was Vietnam. Really keeps internet costs down.
