Wonder how they are getting on with the weather. If the forecasts are right it looks like they traveled across the Tasman with that heavy rain belt that hit Sydney when they left.

Due in the Bay of Islands on Saturday , and so is the rain.

Looks like the rain is following them for quite a few days

The next port on this cruise is Bay of Islands on Saturday and then Auckland on Sunday. Auckland would have to be the port to catch up with the cruise  , if they wanted to , but they would have lost 4 days out of a 14 day cruise.

Wonder how travel insurance will come into play on this one?

How did they lose 4 days? Thought they only left a few hours late?

service charges they pretend to charge.

Not sure where you get that information from. From my understanding, service charges are better than tipping manually because there are many people working hard to make you experience great, but you don't see most of them. So by giving tip manually, everyone in the "back stage" misses out.

Just including service charges into the fare is so much simpler...

Don't know. Get no Information on Board. Also ask about our Newseeland Cruise beginning 01.12., but got no answer. Very very bad Customer service here. Rumor said, Decision will make in Brisbane. I don't believe it

Please let us know if you do get more info, thanks

  5. Having been in charge of passing informations to people, I am very sure no one lied on purpose. There is no way for anyone, even the people working on the repair to know how long it will take, everyone is making best estimates and can only tell you what they are told.

Seem like the biggest problem you had was having to wait 3 hours, so not the end of the world.

MicCanberra, I have an interior cabin. Do they not work on all cabins? Also, I read that you could use them on future cruises. They said they just need to re program them.

    They work on all cabins.

I read that some people have success getting their reprogrammed or even swapped, but I am going to get a new one anyway so I can collect them.

Sorry - another question. We are sailing on the Celebrity Solstice (first time) in January, calling at Picton where we dock at 8am. We are looking to go on an independent tour at 10am. Again the question: will we have sufficient time to make our way via shuttle (5 mins I've been told) to Picton from Shakespeare dock? NB we have no special status to "jump the queue".)  As before, two hours would seem to be a reasonable amount of time to get ashore, but you might know differently! We hope someone can advise.

At Picton you need to catch a shuttle bus when you get off the ship to go into town. These will be a bottleneck on the buses I would assume. I got off at 11-12 and there is never much of a queue, but that's because most people got off right after breakfast. If you join the queue early enough, you will be fine. I prefer a more relaxing holiday, so sleeping in and not waiting in queues sounds better to me.

  8. Which has the better itinerary? If they are both the same itinerary..I would stick with RCI earn your loyalty points and honestly having been on both lines I would say RCI all the way for your age group.

RCI have Bay Of Islands and Picton while Princess have Wellington and Akaroa. All the other ports are the same. I have been to Picton and Wellington, so the main difference in Bay Of Islands or Akaroa, any opinion on those ports as well?

We are not active/party people, I didn't even go on the flowrider last time, and having done most of the activities on Ovation already, would you say Princess is still worth considering or is RCI still better?
