  1. When will medications be checked by customs or TSA? I'm trying to figure out if there are some medications that I could just bring the amount needed and not worry about having original prescription bottles (which take up soooo much more room). Will they check when we board the ship? The only one that needs to be with me on the shore excursions (Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica) is an asthma inhaler and holding chamber. Would there be any check by those countries other than the asthma inhaler and holding chamber? Do I need a doctor's note or is the box the asthma inhaler came in with a label from the pharmacy going to enough? Is the holding chamber something I need documentation for? (It's standard here for asthma patients but I have no idea about elsewhere.) I assume the US customs will check everything when we return but if I only bring what I need--I may not need to have original packaging for all...

  2. This is my first time on a cruise. I have to bring a rather large amount of medication. I don't want to risk it being taken away. When will this be checked? I am not flying and am not worried about that. I am driving to the departure port. Will there be a TSA or customs check from the US when we board the ship? (I always bring original labeled bottles when I go through TSA.) I won't need to carry medication with me when I leave the ship for shore excursions (except for an asthma inhaler and holding chamber--I can't imagine that being a problem--right??? I hope...) If it doesn't leave the ship, do I need to worry about whether the medications are recognized by their country or have any special documentation from my doctor? I'm wondering if some of the items aren't going to be checked until we re-enter the US... in which case I could just bring the amount I need and not worry about having the original prescription bottles. It would save a lot of room...

  3. We are first time cruisers and I am looking for a sunscreen that will be allowed snorkeling in Grand Caymans and swimming with dolphins in Jamaica. I have severe allergies to most sunscreens and only use Vanicream (which appears to fit the requirements except it does NOT SAY it is biodegradable). It is the physical block sunscreen dermatologists recommend when you can't use anything else! Very limited ingredient list... but I have read the businesses only look to see if the words biodegradable or reef safe are on the bottle/tube and they aren't... Anyone have any experience with this recently?
