It seems like the coolest perks, some of which made me want to book the mega suite, are gone! What a bummer. I took the full refund and I’m glad because I don’t feel all that confident that this cruise line is going to be successful...I’ll wait until it’s finally sailing a few months at least and see what others think before rebooking. And wow, how is their website STILL as bad as before? They’ve had quite some time to work out the kinks. Also doesn’t instill confidence...

I so agree. We had a cheeky corner suite in September and opted to get the refund instead of the 200% credit.  I just don't know what this line will look like by next year if they are already eliminating so many of the perks that made it special.  It's sad because I was so excited by all of the initial hype (from North Palm Beach).

  2. There are a few different speculations flying around.  Some have been about the transfers, wi-fi, and the in room and Bimini included drinks. I saw in one email that details would be coming out in the next few weeks.  My concern is that if we rebook for next year, then what other perks might be eliminated?

  3. I don't see them changing the no kids rule. However,  they are already changing and/or eliminating perks that drew us to the line, and specifically the rock star suites, at the beginning. We don't want to rebook now with the possibility of more undesirable changes. Therefore,  we made the decision to go ahead and cancel all together today. If things look up in a year or two,  then we will be back.

  4. Wow! This is what we are worried about right now? I am happy that my wife and  I can go out on  cruise where we can hold hands (other than an Olivia cruise).

Somewhere in the threads someone mentioned that VV may enlarge the pool prior to the delayed launch.  There is a port in the Caribbean used for dry dock renovations for ships.  Any word if this is planned?

Hopefully they do this. Even though I am not one that the pool was deal breaker, it would be nice to have a bigger pool on board.

One silver lining with the delayed launch is that we can expect a fully functional, no bugs release by the time of the sailings.  😁

I was looking forward to being on the September cruise and being almost 6 months in so that all of the kinks would be worked out.  Now, I am closer to the beginning and worried that so much that I have seen so far may be changed and kinks won't be worked out.

  7. I think that a prudent decision was made today given what is going on, but I am sure there will be disappointments. Who has had to reschedule and who is rescheduling by choice?  My wife and I are still planning on going in September...fingers crossed.🤞🤞

Makes absolutely no sense for Virgin to launch with these types of environmental disruptions.  At this point they should just delay for 60 days minimum.  I'd be so inclined as to say they should delay until after hurricane season is over.

I think delaying past hurricane season is premature.  China is already seeing a decline in new cases.  It is definitely going to get worse here in the US before it gets better, but I think it's best to not panic. I am keeping my fingers crossed for our September cruise.

Now that the CDC has recommended that those over 50 or those with some health issues not cruise, it looks like what Virgin is trying is not so crazy at all. 😬

The CDC and State Department have recommended "older" as in over 65...not starting at 50.

  10. I don't think that they are in bed with VV as much as they are just trying to sell cruises. As much as my sense of humor leans towards sarcasm, I tend to look on the positive side of things when it comes to vacations. I don't let little things bring me down and choose to focus on the positive.

  11. I don't know if everyone else here has been obsessively watching everything you can about the Scarlet Lady like I have, but since the transatlantic crossing there is so much more put out there. I liked the YouTube videos by Ben & David so much better than Emma's (much more positive). Everything I have seen has just gotten me more excited about this cruise. I can't wait until September!

I don’t either.  I like everything out of sight. Being a flight attendant I’m always living out of my suitcase.  The minute I get home it goes out of sight in the closet.  I don’t want to be reminded of it.  I’m the same way on vacation.  I don’t want to see the bag until it’s time to go.

Same here...first thing I do when I get to a hotel room or cruise cabin is unpack and put away my luggage.

Enjoyed it!  She was fun to watch and seemed to really enjoy herself.  It's interesting because at the end she admitted that she didn't go to the nightclub or shows because they are just not her thing.  She is not a partier.  None the less she still had a great time and thought the ship was super cool.  I loved her suite I must say.

From all the videos I think the biggest standout of the ship for me is the food.  I honestly didn't expect such variety and innovation and it all looks so good.  SCARLET LADY might just earn the reputation as a real foodies ship, even more so than a party ship.   We shall. see.

Same here...my wife and I are foodies and not huge night clubbers. The shows do look fun though, and I am not worried about anyone sliding their hand on my leg. The ship does not look perfect but still looks intriguing.  We have no plans to cancel our plans. I read and watch all of the reviews for info but don't let it influence my opinion.  I will form my own once I experience the ship myself. The only thing that will stop us is if VV cancels due to the coronavirus.

Good luck with THE (being the only one) Pool!

I know that the pool (or lack of) is a huge discussion on threads and FB. It is one of the least of my concerns as I probably have only been in the pools on about 1/3 of the ships on which I've cruised. They may have considered that many cruisers only use the pool for a quick dip to cool off and get back out.
