  1. Hi,  Just about to book my reservations for dinner on our cruise.  I know the menu is the same in all 3 dining rooms, but are any of them nicer/better than others.  It mainly seems to bring up Botticelli and Da Vinci, not Michelangelo.  Are they all basically the same?  We were on Sky in May and ate in two that seemed as good as each other.  Emerald is older so just wondered if there were any differences.

Thanks for that info. Do you know how far in advance you can order these kits?

I don't know how long the expire date is on them, but if your going in the next couple of months I'm sure you can order them now.  You may also be able to book your video appointment slot too. You could always email/phone them and ask.

    Contact details:-

    Email: support@dochq.co.uk

Thanks for the replies folks. Everything is a bit tight for getting kits sent to us as the weather often disrupts things. I assume 3 days ahead would mean testing on Wednesday if sailing on Saturday. If that is the case it is a possibility if we could order the kits in plenty of time. Are all these tests done with a video link and results emailed?

I've just booked with DocHQ this morning.  Test kits delivered within 5 working days, and have booked a video slot for observed test next Thursday.  Results should be available by email shortly after.  £38.50 for the two of us, they give you a 30% discount once you have set up your account.

  4. Thanks for all your replies.

I have decided to pre-book my test on the Thursday before, to be on the safe side.

Used DocHQ, once you log-in they give you a 30% discount.  Therefore only £38.50 for the two of us.

Hope this info may be of use to others.

As of this morning, Princess has updated their faqs again for sailings from the uk.   last week the faq stated they would only test those that had proof they got a test and the results did not come back.  Today, it has changed back to prior wording.  I do see that it also says the number of test are limited, which would scare me if they should run out.  There are a couple local testing centers in Southampton if you are spending the night before the cruise and there is also the proctored online testing option.  We are going to try that the night before our cruise.

We recommend guests take a medically observed viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) prior to leaving home to avoid queues and travel disruptions associated with a possible positive result on the day of embarkation. We understand that this may not be possible based on your travel plans. For fully vaccinated guests, we will be able to provide a limited number of antigen tests that meet our requirements, at or near the terminal. For those that wish to take advantage of this convenience, a fee of $60 USD per person will apply as a stateroom folio charge to cover our internal costs.

We are travelling down by train in the morning, so won't have time to do one at Southampton.

    Thanks for your reply.

  6. Hi,  Can you still get tested when you arrive to check in at Southampton port?  I know it was $60 each, but it's just going to be easier to get it done then. I'm planning to test at home before I go to put my mind at ease, although I know the home tests aren't always accurate.  Has anyone done this and is it straightforward?  This is for Sky Princess cruise 28th May.

    Thank you

    Hi there,

I have booked S217 on the Canary Islands cruise in March 2022.  I am experienced Princess cruiser and know what pitfalls are with cabin choice.  If you look at YouTube's various Sky Princess reviews you can see the set up.  "Sky Princess FULL Cruise Ship tour and review" is one example and at 1.21 they show the Retreat Pool area.  This pool is adults only and has a bar at one end,  either side are floor to ceiling windows and behind those the corridors outside the cabins to which you refer.   I think you want a cabin directly opposite the pool area.  It wont be too noisy without children and handy for the bar.  Public toilets are fairly near but not too near  if you have a cabin occupant that hogs the cabin shower/toilet.  There are a couple of hot tubs along on this deck which look as though most people will use the ones on the deck below where the lido pools are.  I do not think they will be walking upstairs when plenty of tubs are on the Lido Deck.   I think it is a good choice.

    Regards John

    Thank you for your reply

I have been reading these posts re vaccine requirements in order to cruise with interest as we are due to go on Sky Princess 26th May 2021.

However unlike the US we in the UK have to wait to be called for a vaccine.

My dilemma is that my husband who is due in group 4 will have had his but as I am younger I am in group 7 so may not have had mine.

Do we still make our final payment which is due soon?

I can't see any cruises leaving from the UK until autumn earliest. I think any 2021 cruises will be lucky.

  9. I think there will be further cancellations for UK cruises after the 14th May.  We will not finish vaccinating our adult population till probably the end of summer early autumn if all goes smoothly.  We also have similar entry requirements as Canada.  Must have a negative Covid test less than 72 hours before boarding a flight to UK plus 10 day isolation if not on a travel corridor with UK.

I personally feel the UK should only allow entry if you have prove of having a Covid vaccination.

    No vaccine, no entry.

  10. I'm booked on British Isles cruise for 2nd May.  I'm doubtful it will go, and if I haven't been vaccinated I don't fancy going.  I'm a UK citizen and in group 9 Aged 50 and over, and I don't think we will get it until June earliest.  It's not just having enough vaccines but logistics and people to administer it. Let's hope I'm wrong and it happens quicker.  I do think it should be a requirement before being allowed aboard.

I regularly get emails from a personal cruise specialist in Southampton and her email address is ***********@ princesscruises.co.uk.

Thank you, I'll try that.  Not had a reply from the US one.
