  1. Hi All

I have read that there are sometimes offers for booking one of the select dining restaurants on the 1st night, but wondering if anyone knew if we would still be entitled to these if we pre-book on the cruise personaliser?

We are on our honeymoon in October so thought it would be nice to go to the Epicurean to start the holiday :)

    Thanks!

  2. Booked onto a Transatlantic on Britannia in October and was wondering if anyone knew from experience if it's worthwhile upgrading the flight back from Barbados to Gatwick? It's with Thomson, I've only ever been on a charter with Thomas Cook to Barbados back in 2010.

    Anyoughts or experiences appreciated 😀

  3. Don't want to upset you but October is mid hurricane season in the Caribbean with the high winds crossing the Atlantic. Been there and have the T shirt, never again. Best time is Christmas through to June, while July August and September can be iffy. Sorry!

Ah don't worry, I'll still be going anyway it wouldn't put me off lol!

Think I need to mentally prepare myself, was on a cruise about 9 years ago with a couple who told me about the time they were on the bay of Biscay - let's just say I think I would be scarred for life. They said everyone was confined to their rooms for x amount of days etc. Not even sure if our itinerary passes through there or not, if anything it'll just be an excuse for an extra bottle of wine if the seas are rough!

  4. Would it be usual to get rough seas on TA crossings? We are booked for October, leaving Southampton then onto Madeira then across to Caribbean.

Don't think I'd cope very well in a rough crossing 😥😂

  5. Exactly! You will have a fabulous time irrespective of balloons! Which ship are you on? We are on Britannia on 30th Sept for my husbands 50th if it's the same cruise I will put a banner on your door [emoji854]

We are on Britannia also but 27th October sailing from Southampton! Awww that's really kind thank you lol!! :D:D:D Have you been on Britannia before?! Where is the ship heading in September?

  6. I think in years gone by they did do so, but despite the TA taking details that a cruise last year was for our 25th and we were in a suite (I kind of imagined the Butler might at least get a balloon) there was nothing. Apparently it's not policy to do this anymore. Having said that we dined lots in the Ocean Grill, we had a photo on our anniversary night and when they knew why they wrote 'happy anniversary' on the dessert plate in icing. Maybe others on the board have had a different experience recently but my advice would be not to hold your breath [emoji6]

Thanks for your reply Florry! Will keep my fingers crossed but wont hold my breath as you say ;)

There seems to be plenty onboard to make it abit special anyway - currently on looking at sample menus for some of the speciality restaurants, my mouth is watering

  7. Just booked a TA cruise for our Honeymoon in October this year ;p

I was wondering if P&O provide any "extras" because its a honeymoon (not expecting upgrades or credit or anything like that) but just something maybe in the cabin congratulating us?

    Anyone had any experiences?

    Thanks!
