It doesn’t matter who you book to do the trip to Volunteer Point with because you all travel in a convoy as only a certain number can go there each day.
What you will notice though is that the ship excursions are more expensive but as I said everyone travels together so if there are any breakdowns etc there is no problem.

I'm glad I cruised last week......weather was superb!!
Well a bit of drizzle in Ketchikan but that's normal.

There's several hours worth of spam on the Alaskan forum at the moment. I only look at the Princess Cruises and Alaska forums and it's been on both the last 2 days.

For the trip back to Skagway.... YES. Sit behind the driver to admire the better view.
Sent from my iPad using Forums
Thanks...I was fairly sure behind the driver was correct then I started to doubt myself.

The left hand side of the bus.....is that correct, is it the driver's side?

Thanks....on TripAdvisor it was ridiculous, always around this time when the powers that be were most likely asleep. Sometimes it would get to 8 - 10 pages in length and it would spread over several forums. Unfortunately once they realised they had the upper hand it became a daily occurrence.

Over the last few years TripAdvisor had a huge problem with spam. I knew how to report it there but how do members report spam here on Cruise Critic?I hope it doesn't get to the epic proportions it was there.

I am taking the Princess transfer from the Convention Center in a couple of weeks . My documentation says that the transfers begin at 12 noon.

I'd already decided some time ago.....no helicopters and no small planes

If you go to Google Maps and have a look at their entrance opposite the Lumberjack Show you will see a list of tenants.
Sorry I can't upload a photo. It says the file is too big.

I reserved a tour a few weeks ago and didn't have to pre-pay.

Another thing to remember........the further you buy in advance, the more likelihood of schedule changes.

August 2018......flights won't have been released yet.

Just a note about the Pan Pacific. There is an underground mall across the street under the Fairmont Hotel where you can find fast food of all sorts, low priced breakfasts, Subway, Greek cuisine, Asian cuisine, and other various shops for things that you forgot to bring on your cruise.
Can you tell me exactly where this mall is? I'm trying to find it on Google Maps but can't see it. I'm not staying at the Fairmont but just around the corner.

Can someone please tell me why it is so important to know well in advance when the formal nights will be? It seems to be raised on many threads and I have still to work out why people can't just wait until they get on the ship then find out. It is almost like needing to know what I am going to get for breakfast next Wednesday morning. Do I really need to know?
For me I'd like to book one of the Specialty Restaurants and would prefer to book on a non-formal night.

This may help.

A couple of things to think about.
When are you cruising ? Is it a peak month? How many ships and their capacity will be in Juneau the same day?
-
I'll be there in May. After looking at the excursions I thought that there was nothing that really stood out so have decided just to enjoy the town itself. With a little research you should be able to find lots to do.

Where do I need to look to see which dock our ship will be docking at? Thanks!
-
Thanks everyone
-
Sorry yes I can see the times there. I think I have been viewing other things through the personalise but when I just looking at the excursions I wasn't logged in.
-
The only information there is an outline of the tour and how long is spent at each place. There are no start or end times.
Oh and also the length of the tour.

I'm cruising on the Star Princess to Alaska in May. Can I find out in advance (as in weeks) what time an excursion will begin? I just want to be able to organise my day before I begin my cruise.
Thanks.

Yes I intend to be outside virtually all day. So I have to be outside well before 9.15am?
LIVE Coral Princess Jan 5 - 21 Antarctica
in Princess Cruises
Posted
I’m in the process of reading through all the posts so thought I’d ask a question while I continue to read through.
I sailed with Princess last year on the South American cruise from Buenos Aires to Santiago. Unfortunately Princess didn’t offer the Antarctica extension last year so I’m looking at that for next year. I’m assuming that with the scenic cruising along the Antarctic coastline it does not make any difference which side of the ship your cabin is on as the ship will rotate for everyone to get a good view. Is this correct or is one side better than the other?
I’ll continue reading through the posts now!!
