Then there's all the people who don't wash their hands after using the bathroom, or don't sanitize before going to eat. Where's the policing, fines, kicking off ship related to that! Ladies... if only you knew how many of your husbands don't wash their hands in the bathroom, you'd be mortified! Those are the people causing imminent danger. Not the smokers!!

Haha... this is the easiest fishing I've ever done. I Know that people are concerned about the environment... just not willing to make personal sacrifices. Don't see anyone willing to give up all the things I mentioned. The fall analogy was just a ridiculous comparison. It got you fired up though. I doubt anyone has TRUE concerns for their health from second hand smoke on a ship... otherwise they wouldn't go on one! People just like to complain about others. Again... hate fueled

There's lots of things that smell bad really! I won't go into detail, but should we ban them? Or people responsible for them?

Do you think it would be a fair compromise to have NO smoking indoors, but unlimited smoking outdoors?

No red herring intended. I'm using analogies that are equally ridiculous to the overblown reaction against smoking on a cruise.

Environmental issues are killing everyone and the planet. I don't see many angry villagers complaining about using too many dishes, cleaning their sheets, using plastic on the ship, eliminating laundry. This doesn't even touch on the "legal" waste a ship dumps at sea. Telling you... every smoking related thread is fueled by judgement and gang pack hate.

But at the same time, the post is asking a rhetorical question. OF COURSE non smokers would book an all non smoking cruise! Certainly you didn't believe the question would be free of debate! And my analogies are good ones. People have their own perspectives and those who are dissatisfied will likely always be dissatisfied with something. Most people on this board have been cruising for years. None of those years have been smoke free cruises. Why change what everyone loves? [emoji3]

The most common and dangerous thing on a cruise ship is falling. Would you book a cruise that guarantees no movement? Maybe doesn't even leave port! Would you pay more for it? There seems to be a lot of hyper focussed venom regarding the issue of smoking on a cruise. It really should be much lower on people's list of concerns.

Thanks! I found this hot topic on the trending section and couldn't resist. I would be for paying more to have a "smokers package." It's $200 more, only rear third of ship on upper decks. Includes carton of cigs, souvenir ashtray. Allows smoking on balcony. I don't buy the whole fire thing! There have been far more kitchen and electrical fires than smoking fires on ships. I don't see them eliminating kitchens and electronics. Good news for the cruise lines: non smokers would pay more. Smokers would pay more. Makes a good case for smoking and non smoking cabins - at higher prices for all of us as our punishment for not being able to get along!

And as far as the casino... cruise ship casinos operate like those land based. They cater to gamblers, and many gamblers smoke. If you THINK you're a gambler and the casino cares about your smoking opinion you're wrong unless you:
Happily budget to lose $1000/day for everyday of the cruise on slots
Play the tables for 4+ hours per day at a $50/hand minimum.
If you play less than the above, you may as well just go to the kids arcade. Oh... and it's non-smoking there! A win for everyone!

No way! Smokers have only the casino. Non smokers have the rest of the ship! Want non smoking sections in casino, fine! Make smoking cabins, a smoking section in the theater, dining room, lounges, etc. I'll tell you, many non smokers can be militant, irrational and down right rude. Shocking that US citizens seem to be the only ones who have magically developed instant "allergies" over the past 10 years. Europeans, asians, South Americans don't fan the air and cough when they walk by. Madness!

If NCL offered completely non-smoking cruises, would you book?

I suppose it would be okay as a "themed" cruise. Just like a gay cruise, new kids on the block cruise, psychic cruise etc. There's all kinds of odd little niches out there. I suppose a militant non smoking cruise would be appropriate [emoji3]
