We used Romeinlimo.com for our tour of Rome and Florence. We took them from the cruise ship for an all day tour. We split it with others we found on this board. We also used ItalytoursEU for a tour in Pompeii/amalfi coast. I recommend both companies highly. They know how to get in and around these cities so well. The tours were much cheaper than the cruise ship tours and we loved them. No regrets at all!

Another vote for Rome in limo. They were fantastic for both la Spezia and Rome. We took Italy tours.EU for Pompeii/Sorrento and they were wonderful as well. We never took a RCCL tour as they were more expensive than a private tour (go figure).

We loved our tour of Pompeii, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast with Italy tours. Our driver really knew his way around! They provided a guide for Pompeii and she was wonderful! In Sorrento we got to walk around and eat lunch for about 2 hours. We really enjoyed all the little shops there. Then we headed to the outskirts of Positano. We had wonderful, picturesque views of the coast line here. It was gorgeous! We highly recommend this company for small group tours. It was cheaper and better than the cruise ship tour! (We know, we compared notes with our dinner friends who chose to do the ship tour). It was a perfect way to spend the day! I'd do it all over again with no hesitation.

PS Decision not final but perhaps Brilliance..they are still selling OV and depart 4 days later.

I'm on Brilliance right now and it's wonderful! Yes, the shower head can move up and down and is a handheld that can be taken off. The shower is small, but aren't they all? We're in a small, inside cabin but it's been just fine. Plenty of room for storage and even a loveseat in the room. We also have a small fridge and a safe. The service has been second to none. Very impressed! You'll love it!

We are planning to visit the Etruscan sites on our day port in Civitavecchia.

MSC offers an excursion to visit both cities, but I have mobility problem and can not book them.

Do you know if there are private tours available from the Port or taxis available?

You can take romeinlimo. It's a private tour that you can customize. We did one today in Florence and tomorrow for the one you're talking about. You can find their site online and email your questions. Good luck!
