  1. I'm happy to answer! We were booked at the Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal, Il Lugano. It was on the intracoastal waterway so I'm sure that had something to do with their flooding.

I will say, I wasn't very pleased with the lady calling, though I should cut her some slack for what she was dealing with (stupid Irma). I felt like she was belittling me. After she told me of the cancellation, I told her we have a block of rooms and asked if for some reason they were able to make the repairs prior to the date of our reservation, if our reservation would be reinstated. With a [special] tone, she said something to the idea of, 'in case you didn't know, we are experiencing an extremely large hurricane right now'. I told her that I was well aware, that I have family down the street from their hotel and that another person that lives down the street from the hotel flew to Ohio to come stay at our house to get away from the hurricane. I asked again about the possibility of their hotel reopening and she said they were having some flooding and will be closed until an undetermined time but she thought it'd be a week or so. When I got off the phone, the 4 people in the room with me were asking me why she was being so rude to me. They could hear her on the phone and heard her harsh tone. Oh well. We are all booked up at a different Residence Inn now. The cruise port location. They offer free airport transportation, which the other hotel didn't, so that's a bonus.

Now on to the next hurdle, since we had plans to go to dinner as a group of 35+ at the restaurant (Bokampers) next to the hotel, my task first thing tomorrow is to make new arrangements - if that's even possible. I'll do much better with everything once we know the overall damage that Irma caused in the Fort Lauderdale area. Time will tell.

I just booked 2 rooms there at the same Residence Inn Cruise port. The hotel has no power as of now, and no idea when they are getting it obviously. I'm flying down tomorrow morning with my infant baby for our postponed cruise and don't want to being an infant to a bad situation with no power. Have you heard anything/.

  2. You might be interested in Christa's posts about the Residence: They told her they must Cx her 12 rooms! She moved to the port Marriot Residence. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2541402&page=4 post 62

I'm already at the Residence Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port, she's talking about the one on the Intracoastal. I originally had a room at the Renaissance on the intracoastal, but it is currently closed due to floodiing.

I should have just booked flights in Wednesday morning, but I was afraid that we could miss the ship if there was any flight delay or took longer than usual to get to the port. Last I read, the PE could open up at any time. If it's not open by this evening I'm just going to rebook.

  3. I'm supposed to fly in tomorrow (Tuesday) for the Allure now 9/13 departure on Wednesday. I'm bringing my infant daughter, and I just called the Marriott residence Inn and they said still no power and no idea when coming back online. I'm thinking maybe best to just cancel the trip. I don't want to show up and 1. find out I have no room, or 2. have no power with a baby there.

  4. I'm on board of Allure of the seas

Captain has announced right now that we are going to Cozumel again next Monday.

We are in Falmouth today. Great weather here

Haiti has been cancelled and we will go to Costa Maya on Saturday

Still have you back in Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday morning?

  5. Waiting until Friday to make a decision for us doesn't help as we fly out to tampa on Thursday so what are we suppose to do? Cancel and lose $$$ on everything, thats what Royal told me today when I called. this is ridiculous!

Nothing ridiculous. They are not waiting until Friday to make a decision. Read it. They are making the decisions today for Friday's cruises. Later this evening and tomorrow for Sunday's.

  6. On the Allure at Cozumel. Weather is perfect. No one on the ship this morning that I spoke with is discussing Irma. Doubt we would try to make way for an early disembarkation Thursday but also can't imagine going to Falmouth and Labadee yet.

If the port is closed Sunday we will stick with the ship if an alternate final port is picked.

Only bad thing this entire cruise so far is the coffee. Worst coffee I've ever had on RCI. Not sure what beans they're using but it's pure dirt. Hurricane doesn't worry me but bad coffee does!

Labadee has already been cancelled for your cruise. That was announced yesterday. We are out on the 9/10 Allure so still waiting to see here.

  7. We are out in the Allure on the 10th as well. I'll be in Florida for work, but my wife, daughter, and mother in law fly in Sunday morning. Probably going to change that to Saturday. I lived in South Florida for 12 years and most of these turn north, but you never know. Only concern now is getting the Allure back to port on the 10th for our departure.
