  1. As others have mentioned, it's what works out best for you. For us, we always take the drink package if it's a perk. And we upgrade to premium. It's just very nice to be able to try different things and not really be concerned about the cost or having to sign each time.

I will drink a lot of Evian water during the day...along with my cocktails:p. Some great coffees from the cafe in the morning. Wine with dinner, and then cocktails or some beer at night.

My wife is not much of a drinker, but even she gets value from the non aloholic drinks, then a few drinks by the pool during the day, a pre dinner martini, and then a glass of wine with dinner. I know her, she would not want to spend the money if we are being charged for each drink.

  2. $175 per person per night ...category 1C...but with hotel stay, drink package, pre-paid gratuities , $300 PNC...we won’t be spending much extra $...not sure if OBC is refundable.

The OBC won't be refundable. Last cruise we got a similar deal. Ended up using the OBC for massages

Enjoy it! You got a great deal. The hotel stay is a great savings. I've never seen that.

going on 7 day cruise this Saturday. We took the classic drink package and $550OBC(some was from our TA). It paid for premium drink package upgrade, gratuities, excursions. Probably use the balance on massages again or dining. We will book again onboard if there are similar deals available. I find them hard to pass up.

You can use the OBC for lots of things except the casino and some shops I believe.

  3. So, if I have the premium non-alcoholic package and decide I’d like a shot of rum in my Pina Colada, do I just pay for the shot since the virgin frozen drink is included in the package?

I would suppose that if the bartender rang in a virgin colada that was included in your package, and also rang in a shot of rum, you'd just be charged for the rum. They seem to be pretty good about letting you maximize your package

Not sure what the price difference is of a shot of rum and a Pina colada.

  4. The only thing I've never been on a cruise is bored. Sometimes I feel like chilling out and sometimes the pool, sometimes the bar.

I don't count on the cruise to entertain me. I enjoy being with friends... And making new ones. If there is some activity we enjoyable, it's a bonus

  5. What types of shows do you get on the Equinox? Do you have to make reservations?

How often are the comedy shows?

I believe there were 2 comedians so 2 nights of that.

    No reservations were needed

There was a Beatles tribute, Broadway tribute, Motown. There was karaoke, some game show... dating game I think.

  6. We did a Silhouette cruise last March and doing a Equinox in a few weeks. We had a fantastic time last year. Everything was great. We found it much better than the Carnival ones we've been on.

Food was excellent. We did late dining, our waiter was top notch. Portions are not an issue for me as I can simply order more if I want.

I found the value to be very good. With the premium drink package costing nothing(our onboard credits paid for the upgrade), We spent next to nothing and enjoyed 7 the 7 days. I couldn't stay at a hotel in my hometown for 7 days, and eat and drink for what I paid for the trip.

I don't live in a tropical tourist destination either.

    Excellent value.

  7. I was on the sister ship of the equinox last march, (silhouette, I think) and am going on the equinox March 3rd. Went the same week last year. There were not a ton of spring breakers. Some, but not many. I think they tend to do the Carnival thing. We did the late dining and every show we went to afterwards had tons of room.
