I think your agenda is pretty obvious now and continually quoting other people instead of what your personal beef is making that crystal clear. I'm aware you were on the cruise, and your own threats about posting comments on FB. Maybe that wasn't a sensible thing to do?

BTW, the tender incident was actually the worst thing mentioned (IMHO) in that it was completely and willfully wrong. However, if SS would like to take a tender I had been waiting for and give me 25% in compensation on a future cruise, I'd be more than gratified. I'd certainly be interested in which CL you think is more generous.

Well since I have cruised on 7 other cruise lines and have never had as bad of a trip as this one then my answer is all of them are better.  I have posted on numerous threads here about my experience on this cruise as I’m sure you have read them since I remember you participating! As for my personal agenda, it’s simple the cruise was a disaster, the rooms were not ready, the AC did not work, the shops were closed, 1 of the restaurants was closed for most of the cruise, the French restaurant which had an up charge had flickering lights all night long. Shall I continue? This is my personal agenda, my 10 year anniversary was canceled, I was offered a cruise on a ship that was not ready and a 25% future cruise discount is not the answer! This is a ultra luxury cruise line if the ship was not ready then I should have had to pay the full price. I totally understand if the ship was ready to go and my problem was I did not like some part of the cruise then sure they can give me a future cruise credit or say sorry but the ship was not ready, it’s as simple as that. It was not worth the full price of the cruise plain and simple!

Just curious    were you on that cruise so do you have first hand knowledge ..... or is this fluff and banter

I was on this cruise. I actually had silversea cancel my 10 yr anniversary cruise and sell me this cruise that I took.
We had a silver suite with no AC all week. If I may ask were you on this cruise?

Silversea let the OP down, I'm not sure why you're asking if members think it's ok, because clearly it wasn't and I don't think anyone suggests otherwise. Or have I missed something?

This thread was posted 16 months ago about a first voyage after a refit. I can confirm firsthand that I saw electrical problems being fixed. It happens. No CL is immune, particularly after a major refit.

Silversea acknowledged the voyage wasn't up to their expected standards and compensation was given. Most CL would not have been so generous.

The OP has since travelled on a further SS cruise and has I believe posted he had a thoroughly good time. No one can change the unfortunate events of a maiden voyage, but the OP has now moved on and fairly confident if he still felt the same way it would have been him making the reminder comments he'd previously posted, not you.

I have no idea who the Facebook rant Travel Agents are, but can confirm after reading further I won't be using them. I can also confirm I have 42 days booked on future cruises and today will be adding a further cruise, so my confidence in SS is certainly different to yours.

I'm pleased this forum allows exchanges of views and experiences, good and bad, but unsure what the purpose of introducing to a "dead thread" an unrelated rant on Facebook from a TA who appears unable to behave in an appropriate way, so thank you for bringing them to my attention.

I’m glad you chose to sail again on cruise line that had their CEO walk past an entire group of seniors standing in the heat to board a empty tender to take him the ship. Also if you think offering a 25% future cruise certificate is enough it is not! Lastly there are members on this forum in this group that were threatened by silversea as I’m sure you have seen their posts. All this paints a picture of the mgmt of silversea that is not to pretty! If you want to keep defending them be my guest, I on the other hand will sail with a company that actually values its guests. Take care, I’m out!

Yes we were offered a 25% discount against a future cruise. The same 25% as the people that were not inconvenienced in any way at all.

Considering that this was my first holiday in over 10 years and we wern't told when we booked about the stretch.

Considering that as soon as I found out about the stretch and called Silversea and we were reassured that the ship wouldn't sail if she wasn't perfect.

Considering that we had no lights in our bathroom, closet or passageway for the first 3 days.

Considering that it took 2 days to even get a flashlight in order to use our bathroom (The batteries ran out after 5 minutes).

Considering that we had no phone to report problems, no tv and no safe.

Considering that it took 18 hours each time to send an electrician.

Considering that we were given 2 led tealights to shave by.

Considering that our 4th day was completely messed up due to incompetence with the tenders.

Considering that our 2 spa appointments were completely messed up and we were then overcharged for both, one by over $100.

Considering we couldn't get any answers to when our problems would be solved.

Considering that Guest Relations Shoreside is even worse than onboard.

Do you really believe that I'll be using that voucher any time soon?

I guess people think the FB TA is out of line?

hiw about silversea I guess you think this is how a ultra premium cruise line should behave?

I Looked up the aforementioned on facebook after reading the above. What a vile little man. I've never known such an unprofessional "professional" in all my life. I Really can't see how he has any customers carrying on like that.

I have no affiliation with him and thought I would share this with the people that went through the nightmare that was silversea spirit right after the dry dock. By chance were you on this cruise

It would appear that Affluent Journeys is a travel agency that has been having a squabble with Silversea.  To take it public like this and urge a boycott would be reason enough for me to avoid an agency like this.  Add to that the oft-repeated statements in their Facebook posts, etc., that they will entertain "serious inquiries only."  I also have limited respect for people who put such credit on awards like Conde Nast.  Such "competitions" are so easily manipulated by providers.  I was on another luxury line that provided inducements of real value to onboard guests who participated in the survey.  It was assumed they would vote for the cruise line.

You obviously were not on the spirit sailing that was the first after dry dock. This was meant for those people that experienced the nightmare called silver sea  plus silver sea  customer service!

  7. Let me start off by saying that I have been on Carnival, Rccl x3, Disney, Norwegian x2 and silver sea cruises. This was the first Celebrity cruise we have taken and by far our Worst. First the ship was actually not bad at all. The infinity looks well taken care of and is in really nice shape. The room steward was really attentive and kept the room clean. Unfortunately that’s the end of the good.

The Capt was nonexistent, the only time you saw the capt was when he and was dropping off or picking up just kid from kids club and would not even look at you or say hello. The food was on par with fast food. The buffet was nothing to write home about, there would be empty trays of food that were not restocked. They had excursions that left really early and arrived late and only gave you 30 min on each end to grab some food. (That includes time to viewed the ship, get ready and go eat. The specialty restaurants were no better. The n the main dining room service was slow, orders mixed up and if you wanted to order a drink you had to wait fir a bartender that was working the entire main restaurant. That resulted in waiting over 30 min for a drink that sometimes never even showed up.  Nobody monitored adult only areas or pool and stuff seemed put out if you asked a question.  Guest service was no better often talking right past you.

The hope this was just a glitch because I have heard great things about Celebrity cruises.

  8. Only in the form of an email attachment 737. Naturally I have informed them that I won’t be taking advantage of their “very generous offer” have you not had any response from them?

I have not. Every post they have put on FB I have answered with our experience and pictures of lights dangling from the cieling in my silver suite. They actually sent me a message via FB messenger but have since stopped communicating with me. I am going to call tomorrow about the credit.

  9. I’m really sorry to hear that 737swapilot. What an absolute shambles this company is.

I emailed Peter Shanks today and he has responded saying he’ll look into it and get back to me tomorrow.

I’ve also reported it to the BBC’s Watchdog programme that we have over here. I’m not going to be fobbed off by them any more. I’m so appalled that Guest relations have blocked my email.

By the time I’m through with them I’ll be on the same block list as you :)

  10. I had a silver suite cabinwith no air flow at all for the entire cruise. The cieling lights were not properly installed and were hanging from the cieling plus never mind the fact that I watched the CEO take a tender by himself while about 20 of us paying pax watched while waiting for another boat in Cannes!

I have also contacted Silversea in Florida and supplied them with pics but have had no response so far.

  11. This really does not sounds like the Silversea I know - I do hope they sort this out to your satisfaction. I feel for you since this is your first holiday in such a long time. I would do the same as Jeff suggested above but I hope you can start to enjoy yourself at least for the last few days

We just disembarked from the Spirit this morning, I will try and post some pics when I have a good internet connection. We ended up having no air conditioning for the entire cruise and several light fixtures we not installed correctly.

My big problem is that the room STILL is not fixed. I spoke with the front desk 4 times and nothing has been done.

I almost forgot we had diner in La Dam and one of the windows had a light that was flickering the WHOLE night, apparently nobody cared!

Not really sure if I will end using the voucher, I think a lot will depend on the response I receive from Silversea

  12. As we leave on Sunday I doubt everything will be fully operational by then as finishing touches are still being made and paint splashes need to be removed from a number of places. The masking tape is still in position round the balcony lights so it is mainly little jobs like that rather than anything major.

Some things can not be helped and many of the problems are just small finishing details now however SS have done the decent thing and will issue a cruise credit of 25%of fare paid to each passenger. Most reasonable and credit to them.

However today I witnessed the other side of SS and a major PR gaffe. We are in Cannes and been blessed with good sunshine so it was quite hot on the quayside and we were unluck to just miss a tender. As another was on the way over we thought not to worry only a few minutes for the next one. When it arrived people got off but no one was allowed on and we all just stood around waiting in the heat. After about 25 minutes 4 people came through and boarded their own private tender leaving the next tender in to take the fare paying passengers in the fullest load I have ever seen. It turns out the private tender was ordered for the SS CEO and marketing director who are giving a spiel in the theatre this evening. Somebody has made a spectacular error in making this decision leaving what must have been close to 100 passengers standing around and a journey of just a few minutes taking the best part of an hour.

I do not suppose the CEO and market director asked for this but somebody at a very high level need to be educated.

Holly cow I was there too. I was talking about this to my wife the other day. I actually got a look at the CEO as he was escorted by everybody on the other side of the fence and then stuck his head out of the boat and got a good look at everybody!

  13. Agree with swapilot that growing pains are most evident but I think it will be worth it in the end. The standout improvement is without doubt the pool deck space and the only question mark I have is the cafe which is much better than Muse outside on deck but less so inside due to the choice of seating making it less comfortable.

I booked this cruise with eyes wide open and knew there would inevitably be problems but I am fascinated by the logistics of the whole operation and have had the chance to talk to a number of the crew who were on board for the last few weeks. So it is more out of interest than frustration that I am noting various problems. The TV is now working but with 12 inch picture on a 42 inch screen. There is now no need to have a 3pin UK adaptor as the sockets now take UK plugs and provide 240v but not all sockets are working. The door bell still does not work but AC has been fine from the start. Water flow and temperature is hit and miss but with patience you get there. We are only a couple of cabins away from the cut which may have an effect. Don't get me wrong, we are still thoroughly enjoying the cruise but these are some of the problems we are encountering but make it interesting in some ways.

Believe it or not we went to Atlantide last night at 8.25 and had absolutely no problem in getting a table. So was I lucky on here or unlucky on Muse?

We are going to possibly try Atlantide tonight at 8

  14. So far so good. La terraza for breakfast was really good, no wait and service was spot on.

HOWEVER I have heard people complaining to the service desk that they have NO hot water, internet or AC! I’m pretty sure our AC is not working but the weather is cool so it is not a problem right now! Our internet works fine and the butler service has been fantastic. The ship is definitely going through growing pains! I still would not hesitate to book another cruise on silver spirit!

  15. We are onboard the refurbished Silver Spirit! Check in was very smoth and quick and everybody has gone out of their way to be nice and helpful. The ship looks amazing (first timer here).

Service is fantastic. We had lunch in La Teraza and the food was fantastic along with the presentation!

I will try and take pictures when I can.
