  1. A cab from our hotel to the airport or the port was only around 24.00 or 25.00. Our prearranged transportation was more,  but I wasn't sure if they would take american dollars.  Our cab driver did take dollars.  They have set prices and charge 2.00 per bag.  I wasn't able to find a 120.00 room,  so it probably depends on the season.

  2. We booked at the Pearl Resort, and it was lovely for the day before the cruise and the day after. It made our vacation feel so much longer because we flew in very early in the morning. I made sure we could check in by 10 a.m. We had 2 whole pool/beach days on Tahiti on both ends. There was entertainment going on the night before we flew home (fire dancing, etc.) and made our final night that much more special.

Just booked a cab to get there from airport and port. Booked a prearranged car to take us to the airport early the day we flew out. We enjoyed this quiet laid back resort on a black sand beach. Our room was one of the renovated ones with the separate bedroom with living room and 2 bathrooms. Booked directly with the hotel.

  3. I did not see anyone but I was off of the ship most of the time doing other activities.

They had paddleboards and kayaks on the Tahaa private Motu that some people were doing. You may be able to do it off the back of the swim deck too, but we only saw people kayaking. We just lounged on the lillypads.

  4. Yes, 13:30. We dropped our luggage and went back to town and had a great meal at 3 Brasseurs just across the pier. We could have had the free buffet but wanted to enjoy local music and flavour. That is the only thing Windstar is lacking. Once on the ship, you could be in the Bahamas or Turkey, the decoration and local flavour is lacking on board. Would you believe they don't sell local Tahitian CD on board? But you could get a Turkish or Greek music cd. Mon Dieu !

Our cruise was amazing! We did not do the drift snorkel but several people whip did said it was incredible. One man got scraped up. We had a private with Lagoon Service and it was amazing. Also rented a pontoon in Bora Bora. It poured rain in Moorea but we went ATV ing anyways with Albert Tours. It was an exciting and wet day. Used my patch during the trip and was fine. What a special cruise! Loved the food and staff. We had a lively group that liked to whoop it up and enjoy life. Hope to do another Windstar in the near future. Never had a problem getting off the ship even if I didn't book my tour with the ship. I had read that someone's review. My hubby got to wear shorts to the beach party night and the bbq on the ship. He was happy. Even saw a guy wearing shorts on deck during our Candles Dinner. FYI to the person who told me to order room service every night because my hubby hates to wear pants. Lol The color of the lagoon on Bora Bora is unbelievable. Hope to return someday.

  5. One more piece of information that may be useful for people: This is not a huge cruise ship, so you will feel side -to-side rocking motion when you are at sea between the islands. Rather than risk any motion sickness, I took one Bonine whenever we left the barrier reef of an island. That means when we left Tahiti, Moorea, Taha'a, Bora Bora and Huahine. We were docked at Raiatea overnight and stayed within the barrier reef to get to Taha'a, so none was needed then. And, of course, none needed when we were anchored overnight on Bora Bora.
Thank you so much for the info! It's more than the Windstar Website told me. Maybe we will take our rental boat to the motu on Bora Bora! We booked a private snorkel tour on the first day in Bora Bora. I think it's with Lagoon Service. Will check into the drift snorkel tour. I want to but not sure if hubby does. I've read reports about people being cut up. Kind of scared us off.

  6. We are also going on this cruise for the first time and cannot wait! Thank you so much for your review because there are not that many as you mentioned. We booked a few excursions on our own and one through the cruise. We have a boat rental our 2nd day on Bora Bora. That should be interesting, but we are boaters. Were your fellow cruisers fun and easy to talk to?

  7. The biggest one I rode was a 10 footer...was doing fine and then bam....all I remember is surfacing and the other surfers around me asking if I was ok. I just got back on my board and paddled back to shore. Still to this day I am not sure what happened. 6-7 foot boards are the shortest I ride. How do you balance on the shorties? I can't...guess I am getting old!

The board is just an extension of your body. But I don't use the shorties anymore either. Wish I still could though. I'm not even good on the 7 foot one. The longer the board, I feel intimidated. When you wipe out on a huge wave you are so far under the water it's scary. Thank goodness for the leash to tell me which way is up! Have a blast on your trip! I'm still unsure whether to jet ski or do Marc's Combo Motu Picnic on Huahine. Speed or Culture? Trying for a balance. Atv tour in Moorea.

  8. I think Skitrips posted that, lol. But I'm actually a surfer girl too but in Cali. Of course there are waves in NJ, lol. I used to ride short boards, but now ride a 7 foot board. No way would I ride a 30 foot wave, as I would die. I've been in 15 foot waves here in the winter and barely survived. Fast ride though.

  9. Whenever we have taken excursions in other countries, they usually ask for tips at the end of the day. They will put out a hat when you are getting off the boat, zip line, etc. Tips are not normally expected in FP, or are they? We are taking a private Lagoon Tour/snorkeling and motu picnic.

  10. We are going on this cruise in December and first time to FP and Wind Star. My DH also has sealing issues while snorkeling so I ordered him the full face mask off Amazon. I want him to try it out in the lake to make sure it works. Will let you know. I booked a private snorkeling/motu picnic excursion in Bora Bora with Lagoon Services and it's pricey. But we may never be there again, and want it to be special. I wanted to go with Patrick's but it was too much for private. You are going before me, so you can let us know what not to miss.

  11. On a RC Cruise, a guy who wore his swim trunks on formal night to dinner in the dining room. I guess it would've been OK if his butt crack wasn't showing.

On a Carnival Cruise, the guy in line in front of us...security had to inspect his bag and pulled out a huge 10 inch machete! He said he would take it back to his car. Whoops!

My daughter saw a guy jump from one deck to another to get away from security. That was a Carnival Cruise, also. The things you see!
