Wondering why January departure has been offered £100 obc and I have been offered £25 for March 12 departure. Anyone else had an offer for that one?🤔

We are off January 8th,  £100 obc each plus £100 each off next cruise.  don't know if that will happen any time soon though after this fiasco.

  2. We received or survey/ questionnaire today

Poorly constructed/worded and questionions that bore no relevance to the experience of cruising with Marella/ ships like standard of ship, staff, food, drinks package and entertainment etc etc

Totally agree with you and I thought at least there would have been a page at the end to add your own comments, however I think that Marella would have been inundated and they knew that.

  3. IMO you come on TA to get help with your travels,I really don't see a point in asking whether or not people have had troubles on the way,the number of times we have had fantastic stays at hotels where TA posters haven't a good word to say about are many,we are all different, some people will whinge about anything,no matter how petty or ridiculous, some people will just have bad luck, take it all with a pinch of salt!

    Well said Snaefell

  4. We are on Marella Explorer in June 2018 (first time cruisers). This might be a silly question, so please go easy on me !

Are we allowed to purchase bottles of wine or spirits (or even water) in port for consumption in our cabin. Also would we be allowed to purchase snacks such as crisps, biscuits, again for consumption in our cabin ? Both alcohol and snacks would be unopened and sealed.

We are just off Discovery1 and I like glass of white wine when getting ready for dinner our mini bar only had red and i asked the steward for white who advised that they only supply red which I found very strange indeed. however on the next port bought two bottles of white and put them in the mini bar problem solved. they were put through the scanner when coming back on board with no questions asked.

  5. I too was on the Discovery inaugural sailing and the MDR was their failing they completely forgot to beep for us on the last night and eventually when we went back to the desk we had to have what was left in a nearly empty dining room, however that said it has not put us off we are back on her Sunday 19th November for two weeks. Hopefully no hiccups this time.

  6. You will be able to board and use all facilities and your cabin should be ready we have never had to wait, only for luggage we normally take a change of clothing in the hand luggage don't forget you get 7kg.

Sent from my VF-895N using Forums mobile app

I just got my e-tickets through for my cruise and hand luggage is down to 5Kg, I had heard this before then I seen your quote however we checked the website and it still says 7kg !!!!

  7. Some of my forum friends buy a collapsible hanging rail, like one in a dress shop, so they can hang their cruise clothes on it in a spare room when they're deciding which ones to pack...a free standing one which they can put away afterwards. It's the sort of thing you see near the front of a shop, with bargain T shirts on ! :)

good idea since my son and daughter moved out we now have a cruise room and a golf room ;p

  8. FIFE 1 This happened to our party last year (Glasgow flight) on the inaugural sailing of the Discovery from Palma, changed us to a French Airline no baggage upgrade allowed one Thomson Flight Attendant, the rest were French attendants. The plane was actually a Freight airline with seats that can be removed. Not a good move on Thomson's part. back on Discovery in November meant to be the Dreamliner Glasgow to Barbados, premium booked hope they dont let me down this time.

  9. Have been on Thomson Dream 5 times, Thomson Spirit once and Thomson Majesty twice - all 8 cruises have been excellent but, although still most enjoyable, Dream is definitely now showing her age and the other 2 leave the Thomson fleet at the end of this Summer (such a shame as Majesty is by far our favourite ship). We generally stay in 4 or 5 star hotels but, although cabins may be a little more basic than top quality hotel rooms, have never felt that we have been missing out even though we always book basic cabins as we prefer to put the money charged for cabin upgrades towards a future cruise.

This year we are trying the new to Thomson Discovery 2 in May.

Thomson ships may not be the most 'posh' but you certainly cannot beat them for crew, entertainment, passengers and itineraries. I personally think the quote of 'glorified ferries' in an earlier post is an insult to the Thomson fleet.

Give them a try and I am sure you will have a wonderful time. - i agree that "glorified ferries" is an insult
