  1. We will be in Cozumel on July 4th, with our 17 and 11 years old daughters.  My 17 year old loves swimming in pools, especially with deep ends.  My husband does not drink, so no need for AI option.

Looking for best option for pool and beach day.

Which option has the best pool for my 17 year old to enjoy swimming?

Paradise Beach, Nachi, Mr. Sanchos? or should we look at one of the Resorts for a Day options?

Allegro looks like it has nice pools, anyone been there recently?

What about some of the other Resort for a Day Options?

We are one the same cruise.  They will be showing NFL at the bar by the Casino, Craft Social, and in your room.  It will probably be shown on the big screen near the Roof Top Grill also.  😊

Thanks!!!  I just found the Roll Call thread also!

  3. Is there any hope I will be able to watch the NFL playoff games this Sunday (the 14th) on our departure day on Ascent?

I have read that there are some small TV's in the Craft Social Spot on deck 4.  Are there any TVs on Deck 15 that may be showing the NFL games on departure day?  Any other place that I may now know about (other than my cabin...) that I will be able to watch in the afternoon?

    Thank you!

I know..... I am going on a cruise and should not be worried about watching football as soon as we board, but did not expect "needing" to watch the 1pm game on Sunday 🙂

  4. For this Friday - there are three ships - estimated passengers - Disney Wish (4,000), Carnival Liberty (3,000), and RC Independence (4375).

My "plan" is to drop the other 4 people and all our luggage I am traveling with at the port at 10:30 am and then return the rental car to AVIS.  I guess if there is not a shuttle right there, I can take an Uber to the terminal?  We have 11 am bording time.

On Monday when we return - all the same ships as Friday plus Carnival Freedom (3,000) - Hopefully AVIS shuttle will be available when we get off the ship... - if not I can take an Uber to AVIS?

  5. There will be 5 ladies next Thursday night staying at the Holiday Inn Vacation Club.  We will have a rental car.  We will be celebrating a birthday - what is a good restaurant on the water that would have "non fried" seafood?  Any other suggestion for on the water restaurant that is not "beach bar food"?

We like Home2Suites rented a car in Orlando used Budget rental drop off near hotel free shuttle to pier With rental you can drive to restaurants. On return we booked a shuttle back to Orlando.

Did you have any delays when you dropped your rental car off at Budget the morning of the cruise?  I have been reading such horrible reviews about how long it took to retun the car.

We loved our OTW cabana last week.  We were in #13 and our attendant was great!  My comment to my husband was that I wouldn't want to be in the beach cabana's on that side because they all stared at the OTW cabanas and didn't have an open ocean view.  There was a bathroom partway up the path to the Beach Club.  We waited until about 2:00 to go up to the pool when lots of people with the day pass were headed back to the ship.  We stayed until 4:00 to get as much use as possible out of our day because I doubt I will ever see a deal like I got again!

Thanks for the information, can't believe the OTW is only $2299 - with tax it was around $2500.  I know I will never be able to enjoy something like that in the future.

Did you pick #13 or was that assigned?  I plan on going to the Shore Excursion desk to select one of the ones in the "front"

We plan on staying in the Cabana all day until we get kicked out 🙂

  8. I booked the OTW cabana and then saw the price dropped even more this week.  It was only $100 more than what I originally paid for the beach cabana.  Price for the OTW is almost half what it was in November when I booked the beach cabana. Probably since it is only a 3 day cruise, people are not looking to spend a lot of extra money.  Glad it worked out for us and a great way to celebrate my "Big Birthday" next week.  I will probably not get another change to enjoy it.  The cost is over $4,000 during our Spring Break cruise on the Odessy in 2024.

I was treated to both by a generous family member (I wouldn't pay for either but that wasn't your question).

I thought the OTW cabana was much nicer, beautiful view of the ocean, hammock over the water to lounge in, you can jump into the ocean or use the slide, snorkel right off the side, it has a shower to rinse off in, etc. You can still walk to the pool (my young nieces did), it's just a bit farther.

A lot of my family actually preferred the beach cabana because it was closer to the beach club and pool. Your food & drinks will come a bit quicker if that matters but a good server will take care of you either way. They ride big tricycles out to the OTW cabanas.

So I'd say it's personal preference. The food and service were identical. We even requested our amazing server from a year ago last month and our request was granted.

Thank you!  What is the server's name?  Do you have a specific OTW cabana number that I should try to reserve when we embark?  I read to avoid #1 because people asked to use their slide...

Thanks for your feedback - I know this is the cheapest option I will ever see for an OTW cabana, so I am going to make the change today.

  10. We are a group of eight "middle age" ladies that have a Cabana booked at the Beach Club for a cruise in a few weeks.  It seems Cabanas are not selling out on our cruise and prices have dropped.  I can reserve an Over the Water Cababana for "only" $300 more than what we paid for the Beach Club Cabana.

I have never rented a cabana before and would like to ask which cabana would be better for our group.

The views look amazing for OTW, but location wise is it better for the Beach cabana to be closer to the pool and better to be "on the beach"?

Should I book an OTW cabana or should we stay with the beach cabana?

  11. Traveling in a few weeks as a group of 8 middle age ladies.  We already have a Cabana at the Beach Club at Coco Cay reserved.  I just check the RC app, and the Over the Water Cabanas have gone down in price and are around $200ish more than what we paid for the Beach Cabana at the Beach Clob.

Should we book the Over the Water Cabana since it is almost the same price?

Which Cabana is better for a group of ladies?  I thought it might be better to be on the sand and easily walk to the infinitley pool, but the OTW views look nice and the slide looks fun.

Since our cruise is at the end of July, and I assume super hot, which Cabana is a better option at the Beach Club?

  12. Renting a car one way from MCO to Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area at end of July.  Is taking the trolley an option from or to the port from either Budget or Avis rental car offices?  I understand the Trolley runs counter clock-wise, so maybe from our return after the cruise it can be taken to pick up rental car?

I will be dropping eveyone and all luggage off at the port the day our cruse leaves and then will drop off rental car.  I may just take an Uber back to port as the quickest option?

What about when we arrive back at Port Canaveral?  Can I take the trolley to the rental car location?  After I get the rental car, I can go back to port to pick everyone up?

  13. Thank you - We will be docked at Crown Bay

Definitley need restrooms!  We will eat an early lunch on the ship and maybe by after lunch Megan's Bay or Sapphire will be less crowded.  We do not have to snorkle, my husband does not want to do it, but I know my two girls and I would enjoy it.  Any snorkling we do, will have to be not too far from the shore and not in rough waters.

@blue_water - I grew up on the western part of the Fingers Lakes 🙂 - very close to Conesus Lake

  14. We will be in St. Thomas the first week of April, 2022.  As of today there are 7 cruise ships on the schedule to be in St. Thomas on the day we are scheduled to be there.  We have been on so many cruises, but surprisingly we have never been to St. Thomas.

We will be docked at Crown Bay

Right now (of course subject to change) we will be in port from 11 am - 7pm

We have two daughters, 15 and 9.

Since there are options to go snorkling from the beach either in St. Thomas or St. John, we are considering snorkling at this port (we are not comfortable snorkling with our children from a boat anchored not at shore)

I have started researching beach options and since there are so many, and of course some will be more crowded, I wanted to get some opinions from fellow cruisers as to which beaches I should consider (and not consider) for our day at St. Thomas.

Black Beard's Castle, 99 steps and the Ft. Christian museum also look like options to include in our day.  We are not interested in shopping, and since we do not have to spend "all day" at the beach, wanting to find out if a good option to check out these locations and then go to beach later in the afternoon.

Always appreciate the advice and information on these forums!

  15. I know the fear that you experienced with your DD. I had a similar experience on an airplane when mine was 3 1/2 months old. She is 11 months old now. She actually vomited and asphyxiated while I was holding her. Thank God there were 2 pediatricians on board and a RN that necessitated her and saved her life. It was very scary getting back on a plane with her, but we have done it. It was considered an "acute, life threatening situation" we had her on a monitor when she slept just for our own piece of mind until she was 9 months old.

Also by reading your posts, I am not going to leave my child while I am at port

Thanks for all your advice. I can't wait to take her on her first cruise in 7 weeks!![/color]
