My cruise is 45 days out today, so, naturally, I'm right there to check-in, just after midnight. I enter my info (passport, photo, contact, credit card) and then it tells me:
"! We're not quite ready for you. Check back closer to your cruise to select an arrival time and complete check-in." HUH? I've always been able to select a boarding time at check-in, but not today. 😞 I checked my roll-call and no one is able to select a boarding time. I contacted RCCL by phone, but it seems they don't know either. I got the answer: "There is a glitch and to keep trying", another cruiser contacted them and was told "It will be available by 24 hours before departure." I think the customer service reps were guessing and trying to give us and answer that would satisfy us.Why would this cruise be different than any other cruise check-in? It is a repositioning cruise, but I still need to select my boarding time.Anyone else have this problem? Thanks, -

Your travel agent either isn't very good at their job, or they were lying.
Refundable deposits are still a thing unless you book a suite. If you have a non-suite balcony, you should have been able to book a refundable rate.My TA rebooked today with the refundable deposit. It's just smart while navigating these waters with the virus restrictions and changes.
Here's what she said: "Sorry about that. I had to argue and explain I specifically asked the refundable question and was told no. I took it to the Resolution Department, the booking had to be canceled and rebooked in order for them to change to a Refundable deposit. The good news is, it's done, same cabin."

I contacted my travel agent today and asked her to check again for the refundable deposit, because that's what we would prefer... especially in these uncertain times.

I've missed cruising, too. I just booked Freedom of the Seas (Miami) Bahamas & Cococay for Sept, 2022. I sailed Liberty last year (January) right before everything shut down, and I was on Radiance in 2019 for Alaska. Looking forward to enjoying cruise-life, again.
It's 13 months away, and I hope that the virus isn't still making it so difficult to get onboard. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I was surprised that I wasn't able to book with a refundable deposit. My travel agent said RCCL said that it wasn't available. I booked anyway and risked the $. I booked an Aft Balcony cabin.

Anyone know if your TA gets commission on the bid?
The last question on this FAQ is:
- Are the RoyalUp℠ upcharges commissionable?
I don't know if that means a travel agent's commission.

I received a "Royal Up" offer for our Alaska Cruise in June, but once I realized that our gratuity would also be charged more, than it is less appealing.
"Q. If my client is upgraded to a higher category stateroom with RoyalUp, will they have to pay a gratuity amount based on the new upgraded category? A. Yes, by upgrading to a higher stateroom category, each guest in the booking may be subject to a higher gratuity amount. The Offer Amount does not include the higher gratuity. If the Offer is accepted, the difference between the original and upgraded stateroom gratuities (if applicable) will be automatically applied to all guests (the “Additional Charges”)."

Or you can use the free ship's app to do the same thing, saving hundreds of dollars.
Surely I am missing something?
We used the app on Carnival in 2017, but we are on Royal Caribbean this year and the roll out of their app has not reached our ship, so no using an app for communicating. I'll be in Alaska, with a land portion before the cruise and Alaska doesn't always have cell service everywhere. Also will be in and out of Canada and taking both Amtrak and the Alaska Railroad, so I'll be bringing 2 GoTenna Mesh units and will see if they will be useful. I've tested them at home and they work, but similar to walkie-talkies, so not very far.

Captain Marek announced on Nov 5 that he has a new assignment. Do you know who is replacing him on Radiance OTS?
<From Cap. Marek: I guess I can share the news officially now and admit that I will be saying goodbye to my Radiance Family in few weeks after 5 beautiful years on here. My next assignment is set on board the Odyssey of the Seas and I'm scheduled from Feb 25 - May 5 and then July 14 - Sept 22 for 2024. Looking forward to new challenges and new features.>
