  1. We will be going on the Dream over thanksgiving to the Bahamas. I was wondering about pharmacies in the Bahamas. We usually stock up on medicine in Mexico when we go to Cozumel. Does the Bahamas have pharmacies like Cozumel. We’re stopping in Nassau and Freeport. Any recommendations on where to shop?

  2. Me and the wife will be going in the breeze on July 4th. I tried to order something from the spa before the cruise and nothing is available. I can’t imagine that they have sold out every spa slot. Has anyone encountered this before?  Any ideas what might be going on?

  3. I was able to finally get someone on the phone to help me change my room number. I should have asked about the room before I gave them my credit card number. I was given a room one time directly beneath the lido. You could hear the staff dragging the loungers around a lot. It was loud. They really should have some warning on rooms like that.

  4. We just booked a cruise and the pvp said balcony and I said ok. I didn’t check the position of the room and it turns out it is directly above the casino. Has anyone had any experience getting a room directly above casino? Does it smell like smoke? Can you hear the slot machines going off all the time?

  5. When we sailed on the Dream in August they only had the sugar straws. Completely ridiculous and impractical. They really don’t work the way a straw should work. You can’t stir with it and they melt pretty quickly. I did my survey after cruising and had two major complaints. No plastic straws and no Diet Coke for the dw.

Carnival should not be bowing to the 5% of the people in this world that cry about the environment. The majority of people either are completely against it or don’t care either way. And if carnival is trying to lessen its carbon”footprint “ I’m sure they can find better ways than to aggravate the majority of its customers.

I do have a question. If you pack plastic straws will they confiscate them?  Like they do with alcohol or steamers.

  6. My wife and I  will be sailing on the vista on February 5. We are currently gold level vifp with 72 days. We will reach platinum on 75 days. This is a 7 day sailing so we will reach platinum mid way through the trip. Does anyone know if we will be given gold or platinum at the beginning of trip? Will we get gold and stay gold throughout the trip? Be given platinum at the beginning? Or possibly get issues new cards in the middle of trip?  Any expert info is appreciated.

  7. Ultimately banning you or not taking your credit card again is pretty petty or spiteful in this situation. I would expect more from a huge company like carnival. When a merchant chooses to take visa and MasterCard they assume liabilities that come with the transaction. One of these is that the consumer has additional protections afforded to them by purchasing with a credit card. If the merchant is at fault after the credit card investigation then that’s the merchants responsibility. If they don’t like it don’t blame the consumer. Blame the credit card industry. Take payments another way. Merchant agreements with credit cards usually have verbiage against retaliation.

  8. I certainly hope that US officials are certain it’s not corona that the people being taken off in stretchers have. For the sake of all Americans I think that an abundance of caution should have been exercised. I can’t believe in a million years that there letting everyone disembark that ship. I totally agree that being stuck on that ship for test results is not idea. But it is the best option so that the entire us mainland isn’t inundated with 4000 people that could possibly be carriers and can pass the disease on now. Like today as soon as they get off and stop a gas station or eat at ihop. Smh. I can’t believe that the US authorities are being so reckless. Unless they’re certain and have tested those people on board. Maybe they have. But I’m just saying this looks bad. I hope my concerns are wrong.

  9. I have noticed a little more rust on carnival ships than other ships of recent times. I’ve wondered why and chalked it up to what I think might be going on. Decreased manpower. I don’t think these ships have as much labor to do all the jobs a big ship need to have done. So I think labor gets stretched and things like general maintenance falls through the cracks. I’ve really noticed over the past 5 years or so that even small items inside the ship are broken here and there. A light shield broke or a handle busted. The corner of a table chipped. I think they are squeezing budgets. But I speculate that it might be an overall shortage of labor. I base this off of conversations with staff members on ships from waitstaff at restaurants to housekeeping to casino staff. Everyone seems stretched thin. Maybe that’s why they don’t focus as much in general maintenance and painting.

Who would want to go on this ship before it is seriously worked over and made whole?

I am supposed to go on this ship on the 29th of December. I hope we’re able to still go. I don’t care is a small bit of the dining room is messed up. I’ve got this trip planned out. I would hate to have to cancel it. A little bit of inconvenience will be ok.

  11. We are supposed to be going on the glory next Sunday the 29th. I’m curious to see what they do in the way of fixing the ship. I’m still not too sure what the damage is but it looks like from the pictures that the metal that was bent in between the two floors was the walk around area to clean the windows and of course the windows were blown out. I wonder how much damage took place on the actual deck between 3 and four?  I’m thinking they will partition that part of the dining room off and put a big curtain over the partition.

    any other ideas?

I guess they could even come in there with metal plates and weld them in as a temporary partition. That would be pretty strong.

  12. I'll repeat my question:

Why would you think those unaffected or even unaware would get compensation?

That raises a good question. I wonder how affected everyone else on the ship was. I guess for sure the guests in the 50 or so cabins, but I wonder if the displaced people having to take up other space on the ship, and the staff having to do extra cleanup caused areas to be off limits or regular services to be hindered because of the lack of staff due to the cleanup.
