    So thinking of more questions...

Where's a good place to rent a car?

Blue, do you usually take any groceries with you to ST? I learned my lesson after my first land vacation to Aruba...take non-perishables with you in a suitcase to save $$

What are some good excursions to do when there? We LOVE the beach, so will be beach hopping most days, but would love other things to do as well to break up the beach days. Is there a zoo? Caves? Parasailing? Dune Buggies? Give me some ideas please.

Also, what airlines is the cheapest and best to use to get there from the states? We ALWAYS travel with Southwest because we have tons and tons of points and fly free, but SW doesn't fly there. So, looking at other alternatives. I've never been on another airline and know they work differently.

I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go along and I really appreciate everyone's knowledge and thoughts.

OH>>>> do they still have the Sapphire Beach webcam? I used to watch that all the time and dream. 😉

Thats the Sapphire beach webcam on Youtube. I watch it all the time. We have been going to Sapphire beach now for 3 years and love it there. Try to get a condo in building A, B or C. The other buildings are far from the swimming area and the coffee bar which they added last year. we always stay in Building A and rent from VRBO. Check out Kathis Condo rentals on facebook and if hers isnt available she can help you find one. We have fun driving on the left. Its crazy and not easy to get used too so I let my husband drive..lol. Food you can pick up nearby at Moes Market. Just realize its at least twice the cost of the states as everything has to be shipped in. Sapphire marina rents jetskiis or daysailing. The east end is the best place to rent because its near all the best beaches and Red Hook with lots of great restaurants. Be sure to catch Lobster Wednesdays ta Duffys Love Shack. Also the ferry dock is in Red Hook to take a day trip to St John which is NOT to be missed. We are booked for the week of Nov 14th and cannot wait.

  2. I would take a taxi to gorgeous sapphire Beach and sit at the new bar, have some great food and cocktails and take a dip in the water there. They are open until 8pm on weekdays..later on weekends with music . Kids can play on the beach and also there is an area for families to sit

  3. Having done multiple cruises on both western and eastern Caribbean hands down the Eastern Caribbean. We are beach people and find most of the western beaches a bit rocky and not very calm, where as in the Eastern Caribbean they are much more calm. We have fallen in love with the beaches on St Thomas so much so that we are booked for a week on the island in a beach front condo

  4. Thank you !!

How long does it take from the pier to the beach (NCL Bliss)? Does it have restaurants and bathrooms ? Any entrance fees ? Chair and lounges?

Also, I've read somewhere that Corki beach is also very nice! Does anyone have any idea how long does it take to get there from the pier ? (NCL BLISS) and the cost ? Thanks

Coki beach is very close to sapphire so the cost should be the same

  5. Hi, we are going on our first cruise in December...family of 4 (2 kids under 12). We will be going to Nassau and Freeport. We'd like to do one of the dolphin excursions off the Carnival Ecstasy. My kids aren't good swimmers though. Are they provided life jackets for these type of excursions? If not, can we bring our own or rent them? Anyone been there then? Is the water super cold at that time? Wondering about wetsuits for the kids....they have their hearts set on the dolphins!

No worries. They provide life jackets and everyone is required to wear one. They ARE VERY SAFETY CONSCIOUS . The water is warm year round so no wet suits needed

  6. St Thomas and St Maarten are my two favorite ports. In fact we have a week booked for St Thomas in Sept. Coki Beach and Sapphire beach are beautiful clear calm water where you can see all the beautiful tropical fish swim around you. You can rent chairs there and get snacks. bring a towel. In St Maarten there are many gorgeous beaches, Just google them, We like to rent chairs right by the port in front of all the shopping. Beautiful beach there. I envy you!! Have fun

  7. Royal Caribbean. I have a five year old. Snorkeling would be good. Our itenirary was changed from Irma, so I'm last minute planning.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Definitely Chankanaab with a five year old. Everything there including as sea lion show. Nice kids beach, snorkeling ect

  8. Hello,

    Few facts:

    -Never been on a cruise

-Wife and two boys (9 and 6)

-Live in California but do not want to go on Mexico cruise from Long Beach.

-No budget but would prefer to stay below $5K including flight.

-5 to 6 days sound good.

-No destination in mind but somewhere young kids will enjoy.

-Maybe travel this December or January.

I'm thinking Florida departure but don't know.

    Please recommend Itinerary and Ship.

    Many thanks!

Just checked Carnival Sunshine as its great for kids and has some of the best water slides at sea. There is a cruise 6 days Dec 17th out of Port Canaveral which is a easy port to sail out of and Orlando usually has good rates on flights. There is ONE scenic ocean view room left. They are new at at the front and have floor to ceiling windows!ports are Amber Cove (new port)..Grand Turk (amazing water and beach by ship) and Nassau for $2733

GRAB IT !! Have fun whatever you choose! :D
