  1. Absolutely great advice! Last year my son (14) came back to the cabin because they were going to play 'ice breakers' and he didnt like that game.... i said it's not a board game! lol He went right back and missed that part but thankfully was able to still make friends and hung out with them most of the cruise. When we sail again next month he said he will definitely be there first night!

  2. Cruised last year for the first time with just my 14 year old. I researched EVERYTHING ahead of time and this place gave me everything I needed to know!

In cozumel we booked Nachi Cocum and grabbed a taxi right in the port. They requested one for us on the way back with no issues. Taxi was a set price so no surprises. Nachi was nice as it was all inclusive and i didn't have to worry about anything however it was a slow day there and had i not added on extra excursions through them i wonder if my son would have been bored?

My son is not normally a big soda drinker however I did get him the bubbles package and it seemed to work out. When he was off on his own he didn't have to worry about running back to the room for a drink but i did order a case of water for the room and it was there from the start for us when we needed it. Nothing went to waste.

Hidden charges.... HaHa. We visited the arcade early on and i gave him the speech about not going overboard. I wasn't paying close enough attention (knowing i was not really spending anything and he kept saying he only played a few games here and there) those few games were $150. He was upset when I told him the amount. I wasn't angry and i laughed that it was a good lesson for the casino one day, I knew he felt bad enough and as this was our first cruise together alone I'm glad it wasn't worse and that we enjoyed ourselves.

He wasn't sure about the ocean club at first but he ended up finding some kids to hang out with and it worked out for both of us. The first night they had a meet a greet. My rule was that we ate our meals together. It was funny how many times we still ran into each other on the ship throughout the day.

If you have the hub app on your phone you can keep up with all the activities that are happening (and if you like them it gives you a reminder). We coordinated ours and knew what we wanted to do together each day and where to be.

I don't plan on changing much with our cruise this Aug. Have fun!

  3. Until 5pm (local time) unless you arrive after noon (local time, which depends on ship, time of year and where you are sailing from) in which case it says 6.30pm.

We were at Nachi on Wednesday. I booked it because of the time (we were on victory into port at 12 and their website says they stay open till 6:30 on those days) I will say that although we had a nice time they closed at 5 and the kitchen closes at 3 local. I asked about the later closing time and they said yes sometimes they stay open late.... and sometimes they don't.

  4. HI All,

On the victory next week with my 14yr old son. We get in at noon (still trying to figure out an excursion) but my thought it so do something that ends around 6ish or so and then do some shopping and dinner. We leave at 10pm. His birthday is sept 3rd so we will be celebrating also:D. Any recommendations for something that is not too far away from the ship (since we will be cabbing it back at night) that is good food and a fun atmosphere but not necessarily a chain?

  5. I visited Xcaret about 10 years ago and had a great time. My son and i are sailing 8-28 and i looked into this and Xplor (his pick) as well. We are also on the extended port time and realized by the time we get in (noon) and the time it takes to get there we would have limited time so I called to verify if there are different pay schedules or extended hours. The woman was very nice but explained that they close at 5 and by the time we get there we would definitely be limited in the number of activities we could do. Not sure if that helps at all.

  6. Hi All, We are cruising on the Victory and will be in port Aug 30th. It is myself and 14 year old son. We have been researching the different excursions and he came across these 2. I know Xenses is rather new and don't see too many reviews but it does look interesting. He really liked the look of Xplor and I was about to book when i realized the times. We arrive at 12 noon and leave 10pm... It looks like Xplor closes at 5:30 so im thinking at about 200pp (with photos) by the time we get there, we wont have time to do much so it may not be worth it. I'm thinking now we will probably run into the same thing with many of the excursions. Has anyone done either of these on this short about of time? Any other recommendations that would be fun?

  7. Any major complaints on this one? I just got a rate of $81 for the night before the cruise (I was orig thinking we would stay in FLL near the airport and uber to miami on the day of) but for the price im thinking convenience alone is worth it. We don't land until 6:30 at night so wont have much time to enjoy the area but is it easy and convenient enough to some good restaurants with a 14yr old?

  8. Folks next to us a while back added on the snorkeling and thought it was good and worth their time/$$

We have stopped at the Money bar for an hour or two of good snorkeling form the shore, enjoyed a drink while we dried off, and then taxied to another beach club for the rest of the day. You might look at that option.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will look into it. Is this is a safe option just us?

  9. HI All,

I will be on the carnival victory 8/28 visiting Cozumel with my 14 yr old son. We were going back and forth between the secret river or nacho cocum. I've read great things for both places. Was wondering if anyone has ever added on the snorkeling at Nachi? Is it worth it? I thought maybe if we do Nachi Cocum and add snorkeling it might give us a little bit of everything? Any other suggestions are appreciated also :D
