  2. Just back from Seward to Vancouver on RC Radiance of the Seas. So glad we had a balcony (deck 10, port side) despite several cold/cool and damp days. Mornings in port (in our PJs) were magical...eagle watching in Juneau and Ketchikan, magical views after dinner (10-11 p.m. in our PJs) of snow capped mountains, a glass of wine at sail away - need I say more! We were up on deck 12 for Hubbard Glacier viewing...cold, windy, FABULOUS! But the time in our cabin with the drapes wide open just watching the gorgeous views was well worth the difference in cost.

  3. I cruise to unplug, to wake up early to catch a sunrise, to travel, to have lots of Saturdays in a row, to dress fancy,.... I think it’s the whole gestalt. If one has never actually been on a cruise, all the speculation on Earth won’t come close to the actual experience.

  4. 1. I have never heard of a room service delivery being left on the floor outside the cabin.

    2. Your neighbor ate food that was sitting on the floor??!?!??!:o:o

They said it was delivered on time. When we left our room we saw the bones of our breakfast on a tray outside our neighbor’s door. Seriously! By that time we had eaten our second ordered breakfast and had enjoyed Hubbard Glacier from our balcony.

  5. The last time we ordered room service was on the Radiance of the Seas July 2017 in Alaska on our Hubbard Glacier morning. They didn’t let us know our food was sitting on the floor outside our room and our neighbor ate it. So we re-ordered. It came relatively quickly and without the associated cost due to our inconvenience.

  6. I have always taken my flat iron in my carry-on with no issues. That included RCI and MSC. I’m going on a Celebrity in October and asked a service rep the question. She said no flat irons or curling irons. That was on speaker with my TA listening in. After the call my TA said she must be new and that I should pack my flat iron. My hair is short and my bangs, well, ...I don’t feel pretty without ironed bangs. I’ll take it and hope for the best. I’ll also take the salt water spray as a plan B.

  7. I know this is an old thread. I am sailing on Celebrity Infinity in October. I asked one of their customer service reps if I could bring my hair appliance flat iron and she told me no. She said no curling irons, no flat irons, no blow dryers. She said I could use the provided blow dryer. I’m not happy about this. I’ll be bringing it. If they take it away, I’ll have a plan B by then.

  8. The HAL suites seem tailor made for 3 people with a sofa bed, 3 closets, and 3 deck chairs. We’ve been looking since we want to take our granddaughter on an Alaska cruise in 2019.

  9. Typically, regular balcony rooms are small. There is enough room for one person to pass between the bed and desk. If you are lucky, you’ll get a small sofa and a chair. It would be fine for 2 adults and 2 small children, but very tight for 4 adults.

  10. Try for two rooms with a door between and the potential of sharing one balcony. Your room steward can remove the balcony’s divider.

  11. I’ve been looking at HAL suites for 3 of us next July. It looks like the Oosterdam is affordable. The suites have 3 closets, 3 chairs on the balcony. Princess goes to Glacier Bay quite a bit, so we were looking at that too. We have been looking lately at the RCI Ovation of the Seas Jr. Suite. Do your comparisons.

  12. I loved having a balcony, especially on the Hubbard Glacier morning. We even got up really early one morning to watch the sunrise. It was a little chilly out there sometimes, but well worth it!IMG_0762.thumb.JPG.e6244895b19ff9d7ea58368ab1e50ebf.JPG
