  1. All of our recent & upcoming cruises are free!  The first one my husband booked he called to make the payment because he was afraid it was an internet glitch.  He isn't a huge gambler, but it does like watches and jewelry. 😂 The only free cruise we have been wanting to book but haven't booked is a cruise out of Australia, and that's due to their vaccine requirements.  Enjoy!!

Shows are not showing at this time

Ah bummer!   I tried to find the info online, but no luck.  Maybe the App will update the closer they get to departure.

I can say this much, usually the shows are during dinner in the evening (same show repeated during each dinner time). Comedy shows-  there are usually 2 or 3 a night.  If they are on a bigger ship there might be other shows on the ship at different times/dates and some require reservations (no additional cost, just a reservation).

How many people order extra plates?  Most times, it’s the wait staff offering to bring more (as “better” service equals better tips).

I have never ordered a second entrée.  I have received a second lobster tail when they the waiters were trying to give them away (we cruised during H. Irma and the ship was NOT at capacity, so many cancellations, which probably contributed to them trying to give them away, lol.)

  4. I'm pretty sure I don't want to know! 🤣

We were trying to be loyal to royal, however, we've cruised a few times on Carnival simply because they are now the only cruise line that comes into Norfolk and we live 15 minutes from the terminal!  And our next two cruise on Carnival the cruise fare is free ($100 pp, then $100 OBC pp given - can't beat that and one is a 14 night cruise ☺️).

This is a bad idea to remove testing for unvaccinated passengers as this will increase the likelihood of cruise outbreaks.

    Why?

I have several family members who tested positive within the last 2 weeks, all vaccinated.

My husband had 9 coworkers all test positive last month, all vaccinated.  One of those coworkers said he felt like he just had a cold, so he came to work & he spread covid!!

So we tested... We were NEGATIVE & not vaccinated. My husband just cruised two weeks ago & tested before hand, negative.  Three members got of the same ship & tested positive, my husband didn't hang out with his inlaws (lol), he tested before returning to work, negative.

The days of testing are over.  Getting the vaccine doesn't prevent covid.

Does your husband drink enough to justify the cost of two packages? Would you drink enough specialty non-alcoholic drinks in combination with your husband's drink to justify the cost?  If not, apply the amount you expect your husband would spend to your account (cash, gift card, or Cruise Cash) and you won't have a high bar tab either.

Funny you mention that...with the alcohol drink cap it might actually make sense for us both to buy a premium drink package; we've been discussing it.  But to answer your question no I do not drink enough specialty non-alcoholic drinks to justify any drink package.  I do not drink soda or coffee (I also do not drink juice or sweet tea).  I pretty much only drink unsweetened tea and water, so I would take advantage of the bottled waters.

We are not cheating we will still pay for my drinks.  It is sad that even with medical proof that the other person will not be drinking you still have to pay for both.  The whole 3 I drank last time we cruised

By any chance did you ask to speak with a manager/supervisor?  I too, have a doctor's note so it's crazy that I'm required to purchase a drink package just so my husband can drink (without having a high bar tab!).

We have considered moving my husband to my inlaws cabin (him and his brother in one cabin, and me and sister-in-law in the other cabin), but in order to do that I'd have to pay a $125 cancellation fee.  Then there is the issue of the room keys.

  8. I did the math years ago, it's worth the purchase of the drink package. But you'll have to evaluate how much or how little you drink to make the decision as to whether it's worth it to you. It's not worth it for me, but it is for my husband, so we always get a drink package for him.

  9. I value your right to your opinion, as much as I do Captain Carnival... but until I hear from those on board who visited Cuba I'm not willing to speculate about whether they had the best time ever or were miserable the whole time! And anyone who ventures a guess at this point is doing just that- speculating!

I hope they're having a wonderful cruise, and for those onboard from the Gulf Coast, I just pray they've got something to come home to...

NOPE cruise was not miserable AT ALL! We had a great time in Havana an the weather on our 6 night cruise was awesome!

No, they've announced that they ARE going to Cuba. No cancelations/refunds/cruise credits.

Not true at all, refunds and cruise credits were still offered. I have all the letters from Carnival. We were on the 9/7 sailing to Cuba. We were safe at all times.

  10. Seriously, "not hit that hard." Anyone who lives here has been warned that while Tampa dodged a Cat 5 and things could be much worse, it was still a Cat 2 hurricane as it came through Tampa. We also knew that while there would be damage, there would also be problems from the storm's effects as it moved north (I don't have time to give a talk on the quadrants of the storm) in the forms of storm surge and river flooding.

According to the news this morning, there is still wide spread power outages, some of the rivers have crested yesterday or will be cresting today with flooding. Gasoline is still in short supply and some areas are still closed to anyone not with emergency services.

So, what is your definition of "not that hard?"

I agree what's your definition of "not that hard"? We were on the 9/7 Cuba sailing and arrived in Tampa yesterday morning. We then traveled home by car to Va Beach. So many without power, safe water, etc., plus the number of power trucks, clean up companies, salvation army trucks, red cross disaster relief trucks, etc. was surreal. Most of all exits off I95 in GA were closed with state police and national guard stopping exiting unless you had a badge for emergency response.

  11. you're all going to drive yourselves crazy talking about cruises being cancelled, highways being blocked in Florida, not able to cruise if it hits here or there .... we are all hoping for the best but all this stressing out... unless i missed something.. have they actually said its hitting Florida, and it will be this weekend?

here is the latest i have read... this is as of 22 minutes ago or 2pm EST Monday.. note it says IF it hits florida, it will likely be one week from today.. Monday. Carnival will not cancel cruises on saturday or sunday, if there is nothing happening till Monday or later. Just as this week, they will change itineraries in almost all cases. Here are two of MANY articles i have read and every one of them say.. at the moment.. we do not know

(cnn.com) Florida governor says be prepared

It's too soon to know the impact Irma could have on the continental United States, where no warnings or watches are currently in effect.

"Regardless, everyone in hurricane-prone areas should ensure that they have their hurricane plan in place, as we are now near the peak of the season," the National Hurricane Center said.

Chinchar said Irma could impact not just the eastern coast of Florida, but also farther up the east coast.

"IFthere was a US landfall, we're talking a week from today," Chinchar said Monday.

    (express.co.uk)

Meteorologist Jeff Lindner, who has been dealing with flooding in Harris County, Houston, said Florida should watch the path of Hurricane Irma.

Asked if he was concerned about Irma, he tweeted: “Not for us at the moment...but FL and the SE US should be paying attention.”

I'm not stressed - we leave for FL tomorrow night. :) I've also scheduled a doctor's appointment with a specialist on Wednesday, then board the ship on Thursday. I understand all too well it's still a little early, but that doesn't mean I'll be a disappointed if the ship is diverted or cancelled.

  12. Any one else departing from Tampa to Havana Thursday the 7th? Not looking good. Anxiously watching and waiting.

We are also on Thursday's cruise to Cuba. Anxiously awaiting any news .

We are too! I will be disappointed if the cruise is cancelled or taken to another port. I won't be disappointed in Carnival they have to do what is safe for the crew and the passengers, but the only reason we booked this cruise is to go to Cuba. Keeping my fingers crossed. (yn)
