  1. FWIW, I had the premium package on Sunshine last month and placed a ton of VOIP and video calls with no problem. I was in 9151, but I heard stories from people three decks below me who had poor quality.

I think it might also depend on where you are on the ship at any given time.

  2. Looking forward to a relaxing day at the Club O beach during our stop there in early May. Is the beach safe for barefeet or is there a lot of debris in the sand from the storm? They used to due a really nice job of raking the sand early in the morning before cruisers arrived. Glad to hear about Perch Lite and that there are bathrooms. Should be a great day.

I was there a month ago and it was safe to walk. There were two kids out there in the morning removing the weeds and other junk that washed up overnight.

Most of the debris that remains are the ruins of the buildings and don’t affect the actual beachfront by the water.

  3. At Orient Beach you will find only the beach, no bars, restaurants, etc. Celebrity switched our shorex to Kim Sha Beach. All past cruises always go to the OB

Not quite- the Club Orient area had a bar, booze, and food. I ate grilled grouper, had a few Caribs, and enjoyed the whole day.

That being said, yes... Club Orient is pretty much completely destroyed to the foundations. There is a covered bar/restaurant area, two bathrooms, and plenty of chairs and umbrellas for visitors.

  4. We are planning on going to Orient Beach on the 27th. It is a little concerning that there are not a bunch of taxis waiting to take you back. You never know what can happen but that is the chances you take. The nude beach does not concern us and I personally think people should do their own research before going down and causing problems for them.

I was just at Orient this week and had no issues with a return taxi. The biggest holdup in the Taxi situation is waiting for enough capacity that it will leave.

  5. There is no customs in Cozumel. The only time you will need your BC is boarding

Is that something that has changed in the last 10 years? My last time out of the States was a Caribbean cruise in 2005 and I went without a passport or BC to Cozumel, Jamaica, and Grand Caymen.

Maybe this is the change by Clinton talked about earlier.

  6. I applied for my passport last week and it took 7 days to have it printed- that was on regular service, not expedited. Start to finish will be 2 weeks including USPS mail delivery.

If necessary, they could still get one even though it’s crunch time with your departure date but I’ll defer to the people saying a BC will still work on a closed loop.

Good luck with the trip! Hope that everything goes well.

  7. Where can these magical gift cards be found? Especially if I have cell service with AT&T and car insurance with Progressive and I'm not old enough to be in AARP?

You can get points from AllState with the Drivewise app or go onto AARP and set up a free account (haven't been on AARP).

You don't need to be a subscriber for those to earn points like Verizon.

  8. Correction - I just looked and it does say that email is an option on Verizon but I can also only select mail.

That's news to me- I got some two weeks ago from Verizon and they were snail mail only. If I could have gotten them via email I'd be all over it.

I don't think I've read anyone post that they've gotten Verizon cards by email.

  9. Oh, well that's not a lot at all. There was a user who had posted several times in a couple of the other threads and made it sound like it drained quite a bit of data, but maybe they never looked at the actual numbers.

My issue with the app isn't that it uses data so much as it has my GPS sending my position all the time. Privacy aside, that can chew up battery more than data.

  10. Just received 5 of the $100 denomination cards via UPS. Ordered another 5 of the $100 denomination cards and the shipping confirmation said they have been shipped via UPS.

Both times they were sent "signature required", I was able to overcome that impediment by rerouting them to a UPS service center across the street from my work.

Good call. I rerouted mine to my retired parents. Next time I'm going to try Allstate or AARP; I hear they email you the codes.
