Good to know! Last week, we spontaneously changed from the Breakaway in April 2019 to the Getaway this year! We're planning to get Vibe passes. It'll be our anniversary week, and Vibe had always intrigued us, so why not? I'd seen it mentioned in a different thread earlier this week that someone thought passes could be purchased in Headliners, so great to have additional confirmation. We're quickly trying to learn as much about the Getaway as we can. :)

 

Were passes $129? $99? That's the only thing I'm not sure on.

They will revoke your drink package saw it happen twice on the Getaway when they were caught! Shut down their Free at Sea drinks faster than I can type this - was not pretty! Don't think they would kick you off but they would take the package away!

We had this happen and it was a so called friend! Got to the point that we went out of the way to avoid him and his wife!! Could not believe that he would even ask and keep asking! Flat out told them no can do!!

I am not flaming you. However I take issue with your statement "people impacted are truly suffering." OMG, really? We have a different definition of the word suffering. Inconvenienced? YES. Suffering? No. The crew member and his family are suffering. Children of the world starving are suffering. People trapped in abusive relationships are suffering. Parents of dying children are suffering. I don't think missing a flight qualifies as suffering IMHO. Life is full of mishaps that cause delay or pause. All the late passengers will make it home safe and sound. Its a bit dramatic to call their plight suffering. I have not see any demean them either. I think some straight talk sounds demeaning to some. If missing a flight can cause your world to tailspin and suffer its best to never travel anywhere ever. Today all of their lives go back to normal. Not the same of a family on vacation who has a car accident and a loved one is killed. Think about it. First world problems.

Expensive - $118.00 for the bottle - mixers and garnish! So can promise this - if we have any left at the end of the cruise it will be coming home with me :cool:

Was able to purchase via 800 number very smooth and easy!!

It's been about a year since I did this, but you can call customer service to purchase a bottle of Vodka. The mixers come with and will be delivered by the cabin steward. If you are in a Suite then you can call the onshore concierge to order the Vodka and specify which mixers you want.

Is it possible to pre-puchase a bottle of Vodka and mixers to have in your cabin? I know that I have done this before but it was a couple of years ago and on another cruise line :D

You can but they may or may not insist on opening it at the table. If so insist on getting the cork.

 

We find the free bottle worth what we paid for it. In future would do the 50% off bottle

We did this and the FREE bottle of wine that we got was not corked but a screw top and the wine was not all that great!

No I don't post them. I suggest you just keep track yourself. I'd suggest making a routine to check daily.

 

Yes they did late drop the single supplement last year, and actually I think that Dec cruise was a 12 day??? For $399.

 

It pays to be patient and wait it out. Especially if you need a single supplement drop, these are occurring much later than in the past. Some only days prior. I just got off the Dawn booked 2 days prior then when on the ship, again , booked 2 days prior staying on the ship. These were the bottom fares seen, and could have booked several days prior for higher fares. I am very flexible and like picking up a bargain, BUT it has to be an itinerary I like, I don't cruise just to cruise. Reason why the current Breakaway price dumps would have to pay me to go on. :)

Keep in mind those rates will not include the Free at Sea promo - normally they are last minute rates with out any promotions!

Quiet Stateroom? – Cabin is not as described - only 160 sq ft if that - no couch - no chair - Cabin in bad shape

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Aft View

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Balcony was to be extended but smaller than other extended balcony cabins in this class. Balcony dirty and divider hinges broken and need of repair

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Plumbing in bathroom did not work - lamp shades dirty, stained and nasty. Sheets on bed had holes and no couch or chair. Cabin is much smaller than standard Carnival balcony size of 185.

Any other comments? - If you want an Aft View cabin on this ship book any other cabin but this one

While perhaps there was a location system calibration, it's very improbable that it was GPS. Any "calibration" is done via a stationary "soak" averaging the location over a period of time. Key word here is "stationary".

 

Wristworn sports GPS watches achieve 10 meter accuracy in a few seconds of standing still, and surveyor's GPS equipment achieves 1 centimeter accuracy again standing still. Surely whatever is aboard a ship is as good or better than either.

It is a Fam trip with nothing but travel agents onboard - 2 days

Walking directions??

We walked out of the port and up the street to the main road, went to the right over the bridge and about 3 or 4 blocks up the Boat yard is on the right side. Took us about 20 mins to get to :)

Can anyone tell me where and how much the cab ride would be to the Boatyard Beach Club in Barbados.

We actually walked to the Boat Yard but if you would like to take a cab you can find them right outside the cruise port. I think the cost is around $5.00 and the Boat Yard actually provides you with a ride back.
