  1. I haven't gone yet or know of anyone who has did it before, though we have a reservation next month. I had wondered the same and their FAQs say "Most of our customers show up and lie down in a bathing suit, bikini, shorts or underwear. There is no expectation of privacy on our top deck. We have a changing room if you want to change out of your clothing and can ask your therapist for a towel if you want to be nude and enjoy your massage under a large beach towel." If you want to read more, it's on their website under Service and Reservation Policy.

I'll probably do my one piece myself.

    Hi,

They have the red trucks with benches in the back and top for shade that'll hold 8 people easily. Not the smoothest ride but they are a little faster. Price should be the same as pulmonias,  Make sure to ask for Musica.. 🙂

    Will do! Thank you!!!

We did this a few years ago because we needed the space for all of us.  We had a blast!!!!  Great guys.  However translation for the way back was hard, and driver took us to wrong port , anyway we made it.  Suggest bringing a post card of your ship for communication purposes!  Fun Time!

Yay! And excellent suggestion; definitely something I would not have thought about. Thank you!

The boat to Los Arcos and getting dropped off at Medano Beach is easy.  Walking back to the tender pier is also easy.

Will it be relatively easy to obtain a water taxi or regular taxi back to the tender pier from Medano Beach? And do you happen to know how long it would take to get back to the tender pier?

  4. Hi friends! Our family is planning to take a dolphin/sea lion excursion in PV. There are two time choices: 10:15a-1:15p or 1215p-3:15p.

Can anyone advise if one time may be preferable than the other when it comes to how cold the water is and how busy? My FIL wants to go to the earlier one so he has lots of time to putter around later; but my MIL wants to go to the later excursion time because she thinks the water will be warmer.

FWIW, they are going in April on the Panorama and are in port 9a-9p. Also, it is their very first cruise.

    Thank you in advance!!

  5. On my very first cruise in 2016 on the Inspiration, we did a OV with my husband, 14 yo son, 12 yo daughter, and 6 yo daughter. I enjoyed it. Slightly crowded but I liked us being in the same room just in case (first cruise worries). Since then we've tried 2 balconies and 1 balcony/1 interior. I would totally do it again on a port heavy cruise but if there many back to back sea days or short port days, I find that getting 2 rooms gives my kids breathing room since they irritate each other. Lol.

You can get off at Medano Beach and spend the rest of the day at the beach.  There are full facilities there, good restaurants, people with jet skis, kayaks, banana floats, parasailing, etc., to rent.  When it is time to leave, you can grab a land taxi or a water taxi back to the tender dock.  Or you can walk it.

This may be a stupid question but I read a review from 10 years ago that the water taxi to Medano Beach will drop you off "in the water and you will do a short swim to shore". Does the water taxi drop you that far away that you are fully swimming in? One person in our party will be recovering from back surgery so just checking if it is a full swim in, or a hop out and walk in the water in? I hope I make sense lol

Thanks for your great review. I am researching like crazy for our April cruise and yours is the perfect amount of energy and info!! Love it.

When you left Stone Island, were there taxis or pulmonias at the ferry dock? We wanted to go to Stone Island and then grab a quick tour of Carpa Olivera and Malecon before returning to the ship? Do you think that would be doable? There are 6 of us altogether but I figure we could take 2 pulmonias if they are easily available?

Mazatlan: We went to Lety's on Stone Island. It was ok, not as good as that last few times. We had some shrimp, drinks, shots, coke, etc. Bill was about $40. Be careful here too. Carlos said I want to give you a free shot. So he gave one to me and to a friend. He then charged me 12 bucks! He then proceeds to say, oh, those double shots that I gave you. So one is free and the other is the regular fee!! What a crock and a crook! I was pissed off and told him! As we were leaving, he approached me and apologized and gave me a free one. We then headed to the golden zone, Sr. Froggs, drank at a place next door then headed back to ship. The small tour only costs us $3 pp.

  8. Hi! Read/saw that there are a lot of pulmonias at the port but does anyone know if there are also aurigas?

If I understand correctly, the pulmonias fit 2-3 but we have a party of 6 and would prefer to stay together. Thank you  in advance!!!

  9. Hello!! For anyone who has done this excursion, is the ride there and any walking involved really strenuous? DH had lumbar back surgery in April. We don't sail until next April so it would be a one year post op but as of right now, he still uses a walking cane when he overexerts himself. He's definitely getting better and I'm pretty sure he would be able to do it but if it is super strenuous, then I'm not sure if the excursion would be worth doing. FWIW, we'll be going with our four children aged 20-10.

As a side note, if we don't do The Rhythms of the Night, we were considering Las Caletas. But if I understand correctly, it is at the same place? So would it be the same concerns?

Any thoughts would be so greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks!

Where exactly do I find the Fly2fun on the Carnival website?

I am in my booking and cannot see it anywhere.

I went into my manager and clicked on the 'Categories' drop down menu on top left hand side.  Fly2Fun will be the last option.  However, when you click on it, the page that (I assume) takes you to the flight options has not been able to load. I'm thinking I still need to call them directly?

What do you mean by luck?  We booked our flights for our upcoming march '20 cruise through fly2fun.  We had 4 rooms booked 3 different ways (2 different TA's, and a pvp).  We all called in and got it taken care of pretty simply.  The price was about 10% more than the quoted price from Delta, but we were able to use carnival gift cards that we got for 10% off, negating the price difference.  We also got to pick our seats immediately, even though the rate from Delta did not allow for that.  Add in the guarantee, free changes, and delayed payment, and it was overall a no-brainer to me.

Thank you for posting this as this is the exact same dilemma we are in!  We aren't even sure what if the price is comparable but we had eliminated the option only because Carnival's website states "Although Carnival will share your requests for flight seat assignments, dietary restrictions and special assistance with your airline, we can’t guarantee that the airline will honor them. To make sure you get what you need, we recommend you (or your travel agent) contact the airline directly for confirmation."

We have children so we wanted to make sure that we could pick our seats together.  Are your seats confirmed and did you have to call Delta afterwards?

    Thank you in advance!!

    Hi!

Will be arriving at the airport at 3 in the morning... Would you have a hotel to recommend that you know for sure has late (early?) check-in?

I have found a few still available with 24hr reception but in the note it says check-in ends at 1am or 3 am... I have found one in OSJ that ends check-in at 5:00am but what if the plane is late or it takes forever to get our luggage or find a taxi... will my daughters and I be stuck in the streets until we can board?

Your comments and suggestions are much appreciated! Thank you!

Not sure if you secured a hotel yet, but after you posted, I sent an email to Decanter hotel (which is one of the hotels we have on our short list).  They responded saying that they are staffed 24/7 so check in for early am would not be a problem at all.  They did advise to just double check to ensure you reserve the room for the previous night and not the arriving day.

I have also seen people arrive by taxi "A" and leave by using taxi "B" thereby stiffing taxi "A" the fare.

Definitely learning so much here...Couple of questions though:

How is return set up?  What if you don't know when you want to return?  Would it be smart/feasible to pay one way and locate a 'random' return taxi?  FWIW, I think we have narrowed it down to Shipwreck, with the Marriott as Plan B.

My apologies, I have no suggestions as I am still trying to wrap my head around this messed up thought process.  Ugh.

I have never been to OSJ or PR myself (hence me stalking these boards lol),  but I work at a hotel in Las Vegas.  For what its worth, the policy here is that a typical reservation ends (or is forfeited) at 2am when night audit kicks in for forecasting and to charge for no-shows.  However, if a guest lets us know that they will be checking in later for whatever reason, a guaranteed reservation will be held.  That can be done either through the comment area if the reservation is made online or followed up with a phone call once reservation is confirmed.  I would highly recommend doing both for two reasons.  One, the comment is written on the emailed receipt; and two, you have the name of the person who received the call.

Again, though, I am unsure if the same policies would apply there.  Also, my organization is a very large one here so that could also play a factor in our SOPs.  I would definitely call/email the hotel directly to be sure.

Sorry I wasn't a huge help but hopefully someone can you a definitive answer!
