Another vote for Greys Tours - we had the privilege of having Mr. Grey lead us on our first visit to St Kitts - it was hands down the best tour I've ever taken. He is awesome, a life long local very proud of his island and eager to show it off. He took his time, slowed and stopped often for pictures, relayed lots of fascinating stories about the island, even passed around photos of his family. Check out the reviews on trip advisor, do yourself a favor and book the grand tour, you will not regret it!
^^^^^ Agreed! He even brought mangos from his home garden for us to eat on the ride back and sang for us. There are also other excursions available besides the grand tour.

I prefer the bed by the balcony because it makes it easier to get in the closet and seems more spacious to me.

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for your replies!

I agree that it is better to have too much information than be denied boarding.
I would also make sure that their birth certificates are original and not just photo copies. Also, assume that their state ID is a photo ID if they don’t have a driver’s license.
You didn’t ask but seeing as this is their first cruise I hope they have purchased medical insurance. Sometimes first time cruisers overlook insurance and it’s very important. Medicare does not cover them.
Excellent point about the medical insurance, but additionally make sure it includes sufficient medical evacuation coverage. Hopefully evacuation would not be necessary, but if it is, I have read that it could conceivably cost over $50,000.

This is something I posted elsewhere:
Hopefully helpful hint for those who may not know:
For reasons unknown to me, Royal does not show all available cabins when you go to book on the North American website but they do on the UK site. As an example, they showed 1 cabin on each of 3 decks available for an Oceanview Balcony cabin on particular sailing on the US site, but the same sailing on the UK site showed about 40 available cabins of the same type on 4 decks.
So if you are on the North American site and think the cabin type or location you want is not available, that may not actually be the case. You can check the UK site here.
https://www.royalcaribbean.co.uk
If you see a cabin you want on the UK site and you are in North America, you’d have to call Royal or a travel agent instead of booking on line.

My favorite method is to just hide them in the sand. I usually have a ziplock baggy for my cell phone to keep it dry. I just put credit card and cash in with the phone and burry it about 1" deep in the sand. Out of sight, out of mind. If they want my clothes or towel, they can have them because they must really need them more than me.
That's actually a good idea, but not for me....I'd probably forget and leave it all buried!😀

New carpet is better than nothing!

We were in an oceanview balcony cabin in May and had new carpeting, drapes, mattress, bedding and artwork so, depending on your cabin, you may be very pleasantly surprised.

We have a Kyss bag and I absolutely love it. Yes, someone could cut thru the bag with a knife but I don't think that's likely. I just loop the chain thru the chair or a nearby tree and lock the zipper. I have the large size and it holds plenty.
Agreed that it's unlikely a thief would take the time to cut through a bag rather than just scooping up any loose bags they can find. Glad you love it--we are looking forward to receiving ours. They say on the website that lead time is 3-5 weeks..

Wondering what you recommend to keep valuables safe when at the beach? We have a family cruise coming up in one month and the kids all love swimming in the ocean. I don’t want to worry about our valuables being safe back at the chairs as we swim. Thanks!
Enough people have recommended this locking bag that we just ordered one. Seems like a great solution. We ordered the large which some have said holds 2 towels, snorkel gear and more.

Quote: We like to have the sofa by balcony so to have a better view outside from it during the day time when sitting on it or when at the desk.
At night when in bed we have the curtains closed so there isn't a view anyway. Even when resting on bed during the day one really isn't looking outside as you have your eyes closed most of the time.

On Oasis and Allure when the bed is by the closet it does not leave very much space between the closet and the bed and accessing the closet is awkward. It is mainly this reason that people prefer the bed by the balcony. On Harmony and Symphony the cabin is configured differently with wardrobes beside the bed and no closet per se so it is not issue.
Thanks Steve, Bob and Ken for your insight and opinions. You all make sense and we should all still have happy sailing no matter where the bed is!

This is not at all meant to be sarcastic. I am curious as to why some people prefer one side to the other. We have had bed placement on both balcony and bathroom sides and actually have no preference. Are we missing something? Thanks.

10264 by bathroom and 10262 by balcony.
Thank you!

10264 and 10262 please. Thanks!

Thank you. But I cannot take credit for the blog and scopes. I have a good mentor. He knows who he is [emoji6]
I am glad you enjoyed following!

Many of us know who he is, but much like "Hubby", we don't know his real name!:D Actually, if I am not mistaken, you blew it in one post way back when and I think I know Hubby's name (but I won't bet on it).:D
Mentor or not, you did a fantastic job. Also very happy you got home safely.

I will also post the rest of the daily programs tomorrow or Sunday after I get home. I have not forgotten that I am behind on that.

26 pages, 500+ posts and 30+ Periscopes....the only thing you forgot was taking some "me" time. This was the best shared vacation ever! I hope hubby forgives you. GREAT JOB!!!

How were you able to upload more than 6 pictures?
Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I'm not as tech savvy as others and I actually didn't know until a few days ago that there was a 6 picture limit. My guess is that I happened to attach links instead of embedding the pictures.

After the belly flop contest, we decided to have lunch indoors as the sun was out in full force today. Lunch was at the Top Sail Restaurant of course where Arthur was a hoot as usual. Today there was no water or dessert for anyone who guessed that he older than he really wasRigatoni: their pasta has been absolutely delicious this cruise. Both in the restaurant and up at the grill.

Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone. You've made us jealous AND hungry!
(Sorry-I was able to delete all the pictures except the menu (???)

I also doubt all the dust could accumulate shortly after a complete multimillion dollar refurbishment.
If I am wrong, Please accept my apology in advance.

We were on Adventure in May, only 3 months after the refurb and can vouch for the dust. We were in a refurbished balcony cabin. Not only was there dust in every corner cabinet corner, but most places on board. You were able to carve your name in the dust on the piano in the Schooner bar.
We loved our cruise, but the dust factor is real. We gave generally good scores on the survey, but did highlight this in the comments. Complaining on about it on board did help a little.
Audra--so sorry for your issues and hope you have a great next vacation, whether on land or sea.

Loving your blog and scopes. Through all of it, MUST give a shout out to hubby--the man has the patience of a saint!

Glad you are settling in and getting to the relaxing "hey I'm on a cruise" part. Question: Does MSC have a cruise planner similar to Royal? Were you able to reserve shows, activities, excursions, etc. before hand?
-
Yay it's cruise day!!!! You're just getting on and we are on page 5 already. :D
Was just thinking the same thing. It must be the teacher in her. Hey, S., I hope you don't give your students that much homework!😁

Our current situation...
It's 10pm, leaving the house in 10 hours...this is Hubby's suitcase...

Have a fantastic and safe cruise. Looking forward to your blog.

Looking forward to hearing about your adventures! We are scheduled for 8/10 and can’t wait! If possible, could you post the menus? No rush-even if you wait until you are back home? Just curious what the meals will be like!
These are the menus after our May cruise on Adventure.

Casino Smoke
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted · Edited by skid10
We also love the Schooner Bar but it was not without issues from smoke when we were on Adventure last May. The casino is located right next to the Schooner Bar on Deck 4. Deck 3 does not go through forward to aft so to avoid walking through the casino we had to go to deck 5, walk through and go down. There are six or so tables in the Schooner Bar that are right at the edge of the casino and if you don't like the smell of smoke you cannot sit there.
