IMO Royal Caribbean is a more elegant cruise line with more things to do/see. More in the way of shows (ice skating, water show, acrobatics show, broadway plays). More mature crowd.
Carnival has much better pricing for families (3rd & 4th passenger), although every once in a while RCCL will have a kids sail free deal.
OASIS class ships (ALLURE) is the best ship I've been on, hands down. The only one where 7 day cruise actually wasn't long enough to do everything I wanted to do.
