  1. Not saying, but I'm just saying. You could always just take a dip in the pool.

Coming from a person whose wardrobe is 96.732% Dri-fit anyway, I just take a few outfits and wash them out in either the cabin shower or sink and let them dry. Added perk of having a balcony is the decreased drying time.

  2. Answering your question: If you ask you cabin attendant, they will bring a smallish metal bucket of ice and keep it filled twice a day when they make up the room.

My two cents: Bring your own collapsible cooler and your attendant will keep that filled instead. The metal one are likely not big enough for a bottle of wine and they also tend to sweat. This leaves the desk area covered in water.

  3. Taking a look at the pictures in the original post, I would venture to guess it has something to do with the 'promenade party' lighting.

No actual knowledge but trying to remember our Mariner and Freedom cruises.

Pretty good guess. They didn't want the promenade cruisers felling like they were getting pulled over by the police. :D

The promenade came in three groups. Of each group the top row and the end cabins were missing the louvers. All middle cabins had them.

  4. Any Rccl fans taken a running themed cruise? Ive heard a number of good things about the running cruise hosted by (cimcruise dot com) and have even had a few friends take this cruise. They all come back raving about the experience. The distances are not long and the activities are great. However, i was looking for an C&A member perspective.

When you book a cruise like this, it looks like you must book through them. Does that mean the typical Crown and Anchor benefits don't apply?

  5. Does it (prices)matter if you are signed in or not when searching for a cruise on the rccl website? I would think not, but I swear it was different every time i accessed the site (sometimes signed in, sometimes not). I just recently made diamond, so I was curious to see if they are factoring in a discount.

  6. FWIW, Just off Indy last week and was shocked at the "first day's" menu. Im guessing it was a one-off situation, but as they were hyping Chops in the Windjammer, they were repeating that would not be serving steak that evening, but lobster instead. WTH??? Who goes to a steakhouse and doesn't expect to be served steak.

In addition, they had both baked potato and mashed on the menu.

  7. Also just off the Indy and received the same bag of shortbread cookies, bottle of water, and can of diet coke. I wish I had a pic.

Truth be told, I think it was an upgrade. The previous lemon cookies were awful and the dried fruit was inedible. I was kind of pissed because I switched the warm can of DC for a cold can in the mini fridge and I was charged the $2.?? for the can. A little reminder to guest services and they removed the charge. Those bar servers are ruthless.

  8. Are we supposed to get pins on the cruise we turn diamond or the following cruise?

You always get to use your benefits on the the cruise AFTER earning them. In your case, I would talk to someone on your cruise if you will indeed earn your benefits on the first sailing. I would doubt that your status would be updated quick enough for the second to just assume they would know.

  9. If its any consolation, I didn't even have my Check-in docs when I checked in last saturday for the Independence. (oh no!) After a number of hiccups with my printer and waiting too long (they were unavailable the day of sailing) I wasn't able to print anything out. I DID check in a few weeks earlier and fill out all the info. All the attendant needed was my credit card and passport I had entered previously.

  10. WOO HOO! After receiving double cruise points on my last cruise I have officially become a Diamond member. (Thank you for you kind applause. You may be seated) It only took me 13 years, but hey, who's counting.

Obviously besides the balcony discount all the good benefits are to be used onboard, but I was wondering if RCCL sent anything out in the mail after achieving diamond status? It seems pretty hit and miss on what Crown and Anchor Society does and doesn't do anyway. I recall receiving a letter about achieving Platinum in the mail, but I thing my Emerald pin was delivered onboard. Anyway, was wondering if anyone got anything in the mail for Diamond.

  11. Wow, man. I haven't even finished my laundry and you're already posting a review. i too was on this cruise, and had a fantastic time. Im really looking forward to seeing what you thought of the cruise. As with all my vacations, being able to do things I wouldn't normally do (flowrider/curling/snuba) really made the vacation memorable.

P.S. I wonder if you had heard anything on why we were sailing SO SLOW on the last sea day. i overheard a conversation of a man overboard, but don't recall the Oscar x3 announcement. i also thought I would have heard something on cruise critic about it.

  12. A friend and I took this excursion about 2 years ago now. It was our first trip to Jamaica and we decided to do a ship sponsored tour. We had heard bad stories of what lurks "beyond the gates." Anyway, we really enjoyed the tour and would look to do something similar if we end up going back.

Tip 1: Make sure you ride "Shotgun" The view is always better out the front of the van than the side.

The ride to the other side of the island was longer than expected (45min-1hr) but it seemed that any excursion to Montego Bay or Ochos Rios would have the same issue. You get a narrated tour, so the more they talk the shorter the ride seemed.

Tip 2: Bring a waterproof camera. (I wish I would have).

The river tubing was quite fun. Think of a lazy river set in a beautiful tropical forest. You end up floating to where the river meets the ocean and right where the lunch is served. The lunch was provided at a hotel (buffet style) out on the patio overlooking the ocean. By far, the best excursion lunch I've ever had. Plenty of food and a good variety of local dishes.

Tip 3 Make sure you wear water shoes. Otherwise you'll have to rent some @ Dunn's.

After lunch, we re-boarded the van and headed to DRF. I had actually never been to Dunns before and would definitely put it on anyones Must Do List at least once while in Jamacia. The climb up the falls was longer than I though it would be, but not overly difficult (but I could see others having a hard time).

The hard part comes in with their self made buddy system. They try to make everyone hold hands going up. This assumes that if you were falling the other person could hold you up. However, this often works against you if the other person is clumsy and constantly dragging you down. Anyway, I found it easier to go the the back of the line and climb up by myself.

After the climb, you exit through a typical shopping area. What's the use of having a great attraction without dumping everyone into a gift shop at the end. The vendors were certainly all ask, but I wouldn't considering them pushy. After all, they are in the sales business. Anyway, Just keep your head low and politely decline the offers. No sense in holding up the entire bus ride for junk you can likely find on the next island.

Lastly, you board the bus to relive the 45min-1hr ride back to Falmouth.

  13. Thanks everyone for the responses. I went ahead and called RCCL and mentioned that I needed to make some changes to my reservation.

I was fully expecting the 200% supplement to be applied and had a number around $1100 needed for final payment in my head. After a few keystrokes he chimed in with $850. WHAT? Turns out the supplement was reduced to 150%, and my resident discount was still applied.

Just for S&G's I did a mock booking for the same sailing, same category and it was listing $2,560:eek:

  14. Currently booked double occupancy on RCCL @ $500pp. If i were to switch the reservation to single, would the single supplement be added to the rate I booked at? OR.... would they price it more like a new booking and add the supplement to the current rate posted ($1200)?

Wanted to ask before I called RCCL and change something I wouldn't be able to change back.

  15. Hi,:) normally with Royal, it is double....so if there is a cruise that is

500.00 per person? It would cost you 1000.00 (less the port charges)

you would only pay those for 1 person.

If you are looking at a cruise that is 1200.00 per person? Then

it would be 2400.00......less the port charges........not sure what

you are looking at though and sometimes they do have lower

    supplements...depending on the cruise.

Thats where the question lies. When I originally booked it was $500pp. Now that i need to make the changes to the reservation, the price has skyrocketed to $1200pp.
