  1. I so wish they would keep the ice cream station open later. I'm not a fan of most desserts (on land or sea), but I love Celebrity's ice cream and am always too full to enjoy it with dinner. It's right next to the pizza station that stays open till 2:00 am, but last call for ice cream is 10:00.

So if you see me sneaking out of the theatre at 9:45 and dashing madly across the ship towards the buffet, I'm just making use of the jogging track when those of you who are out there at 5:00 am have already gone to bed! Yeah, that's it...

  2. I’m sure this has been asked, but I can’t find it when I search. Does anyone have a link to the current 7 day MDR menus? Specifically on the Infinity to Alaska, but are all 7 days the same with Celebrity?

  3. There isn't a lot on offer and it will depend somewhat on your ship and itinerary. Cafe al Bacio has cakes and sweets until about midnight and the buffet has pizza until about 2 am. Room service is available 24-hours but there is a $4.95 fee between 11 pm and 6 am.

    Cheers,

  4. After you rack some time in the casino you should get an invite to their Premier cruise. You get as you are getting casino cash, a reduced cruise rate or free based on play, you and a guest get a drinks on us card from day one, you get gifts throughout and play in tournaments and drawings. Should be some better players but it is always hit and miss on a cruise with folks playing for the first time etc... One down side is the casino is a bit more crowded on the Premier cruises based on the gambler's that have been invited back based on their past play.

Cheers and see you in less than three months.

Thanks for the info! The countdown is on!!!

  5. Snoot,

we will be on the same cruise as you and it will be our 5x on the Sunshine. I recommend you do the steakhouse day 1 and you get a free bottle of wine or 50% off bottle of your choice. The steakhouse food and service are far superior than the MDR and we love the MDR. We are going to be celebrating our 30th on that cruise and taking advantage of a Premier offer from the casino.

    Cheers and enjoy the cruise.

Oh how fun! We are celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary, but 13 years together! We have a ways to go before 30...congrats, that's an amazing accomplishment!

Thanks for the comparison. I liked the MDR on our first cruise, food was hit or miss, but I loved the entire experience. It's good to have something to compare to!

What exactly is the premier cruise? I keep hearing about it. We are blackjack players, in fact my husband fluked out and won the tournament on our last cruise and we eloped in Vegas 3 yrs ago! We booked this cruise on a casino deal and have fun chips waiting for us onboard, but I don't know what the premier is? I'm hoping it means better table players will be in the casinos? Last trip it could be really bad with players that didn't know how to play, but insisted they did, messing up the tables almost every time we played. I;m pretty tolerant and only there to have fun, but it got a little excessive.

  6. Couple MDR menu related questions ;)

1.This will be our first time with American Table menu. Does anyone, by chance, have photos of the Ports of Call menus from the Canada/New England itinerary? Do the POC menus actually reflect where you are or is there a standard 7 day rotation?

    2. Is the first formal night typically the first sea day or is it the 2nd night of the cruise? We are in Boston from 2-10pm on the 2nd night and our first sea day isn't until the 4th night and the 2nd sea day is night 6 (this seems quite close together for the formal nights?). Formal nights will directly affect my packing so I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into this?

    Thanks all!

  7. Hi all! We're leaving on the Sunshine on Sept 2nd for the Canada/New England cruise. This will be my 2nd cruise (both on Carnival) and my first time to the East Coast. I'm so excited!!! We sail on my anniversary and are trying to make a decision about dinner. Last cruise we ate in the MDR every night, but it was the old style menu. This time we're travelling and dining with my parents so we're not looking for a romantic dinner; we just want really great food and a good bottle of wine. I'm trying to decide between Farenheit 555, Cucina del Capitano or the MDR and upgrading to the steak and lobster (or not).

-I'm not really interested in paying $35pp for the steakhouse unless it is really, really good and wonder if the upgraded meals in the MDR are comparable for $20pp and a fuller menu to choose from?

-I've also heard really great things about the Italian place.

Anyone who has been on the Sunshine able to shed some light on which of these options has the best food? Thanks all!
