  1. Is there a forum to track waitlist on a particular cruise (just like roll call).

I am waitlist #5 on Royal Princess cruise from Rome to Athens on August 19, 2017. The waitlist is for Mini-suite.

Any chances of getting this cleared?

  2. Hi,

We are taking Royal Princess from Rome to Athens in August. I was looking at the internet package pricing for the cruise and it is pretty expensive.

So wanted to ask some of the experienced travelers. What have you done for internet packages while on cruise? Are these packages worth it?

We live in US, so should we buy some kind of internet connectivity before we get on the cruise? Something that works both in Italy and Greece. Any suggestions?

Thank you for all the answers :)

  3. I got my friend on the waitlist for a Mini-Suite that fits 4 people. This is a family (two adults and two kids, 10 & 7); so they would like to have their kids stay with them in their Suite. Anyways, they are waitlist #5. I am not sure if there is a chance for them to get on the ship.

  4. Hi,

We are cruising on Royal Princess from Rome to Athens in August 2017. That cruise is now sold out. But we have a few friends who would like to join us.

When I talk to my travel agent, they told me that usually there are lot of cancellations around end of June. this is because, people have to pay up the entire booking amount, and no longer can hold them spot with refundable $100/person.

I just want to ask you all if that is true and if my friends should wait till end of June to find a spot on a sold out cruise.

    Thanks

  5. Ok, so does not look like I have much OBC left after Gratuities. Just enough for paying for drinks and other stuff :)

I have this mentioned on some of my tickets - "Complimentary specialty dining experience (valid for guests 1 through 4 per stateroom)"

I thought food is always there and free. So what is "complimentary specialty dining experience"?

  6. Thanks for the all the responses. In my ticket contract, I have the following mentioned about gratuities

"Gratuities: It is customary to extend gratuities to the shipboard staff for their services. Princess Cruise Lines will automatically add a $13.50 per person per day gratuity for standard stateroom accommodations (Inside, Ocean View, & Balcony) and $14.50 per person per day for Mini Suites and Club Class, and $15.50 per person per day for Suites. This gratuity will be shared amongst those staff who help provide and support your cruise experience, including all wait staff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, and housekeeping staff. All gratuity amounts reflect the current suggested amount by the cruise line and are subject to change without notice. Please note gratuities will be deemed undisputed unless a request to modify is received prior to disembarking the ship."

This is a little confusing. Does it mean that they have already charged me for gratuities? Or are they going to charge me once I board the ship? Thanks

  7. Hello Fellow Cruisers,

We have some Shipboard Credit from Princess cruise for our Cruise from Rome to Athens on Royal Princess in August 2017. We are wondering how to spend that Shipboard Credit, and would like your suggestions.

We were looking at Shore Excursions offered by Princess and they are not that great. We are able to find better priced excursions outside. So please suggest how we can use our Shipboard Credit.

They do mention that we lose the credit if we do not use it during our trip.

    Thanks

  8. Suggest you go online for Toms Port Guides (Free) for Rome/Civitavecchia - www.tomsportguides.com/. He has a very informative and detailed description of how to get from the train station to the port entrance where you catch your bus to the ship. We've done it and it can be done with wheeled luggage.

toms Guide is really useful. Thanks for sharing.

  9. The port is not pedestrian friendly and it really depends on what berth your ship is at and how much luggage you have. The extra 20-40 dollars (maximum I am guessing and probably far less from the station) it may cost to get you delivered directly to the ship may be well worth it. In August, it could be extremely hot and a 15-20 minute walk minimum, wheeling luggage would not be pleasant

    Thanks for the tips.

  10. We're mobile seniors & walked with our wheeled luggage from the train station to overnight at a beachside hotel. It took about 10 minutes to get there & about another 5-10 minutes the next morning to walk to the port entrance. From there it was a free mandatory bus that transported us through the port to the ship.

Great to know that we can walk to the port entrance from the train station. Thanks for sharing.:)

  11. Hello Fellow Travelers,

We are taking Princess Cruise in August 2017 from Rome(Civitavecchia) to Athens. We are 10 people (2 seniors, 4 adults, 4 kids - 15, 10, 9, 3) . We are staying in Rome before our cruise and plan on taking the train to Civitavecchia.

How do I get from Civitavecchia train station to Princess Cruise port? Is it walkable or do I need any other type of transportation? Does Princess provide a shuttle? Please let me know.

    Thank You.

  12. Hi,

We are family of 10 (2 seniors, 4 adults and 4 kids - 15, 10, 9, 3 yrs). We are looking for family friendly & Couples only excursions. Here are the ports that we are visiting:

    Sicily (Messina), Italy

    Kotor, Montenegro

    Corfu, Greece

    Crete (chania), Greece

    Mykonos, Greece

Fellow Travelers, please recommend shore excursions for us.

Shall we reserve the excursions through Princess Cruises or shall we do it on our own?

Shall we book an excursion on every port or shall we take it easy on certain ports (which ones)?

If we don't book an excursion, can we still go out and stroll the town?

Please provide details and personal experiences.

Thanks a million for helping us plan our vacation.
