My flight was at 9:40AM on Dec. 22nd (busy day) and I got to the gate over an hour before take-off. Get in line before the ship opens its doors, as mentioned, and of course have your own bags. I was flying an airline that could have accommodated me had I been late, so I wasn't too worried.

Wow, lots of info. Thank you everyone. I like to book the cheapest last minute (after final payment) deals I can find. So for my purposes, the Cruise Next is the way to go, right?

I have never used Cruise First, but have used Cruise Next a lot. The $250 per CN comes off the total, which includes base fare, taxes, port fees, etc. Is there such a thing as a seven day NCL cruise that has out the door pricing of less than $500? According to CruisePlum, the cheapest total price booking currently available on NCL is a 12 day Orlando - Rome inside cabin for one passenger at $1210.
You're right. I wasn't adding port charges.

If I have a Cruise First Certificate for $500, what happens if my cruise is less than that? Let's say the cruise is $450. (Yes, I know it has to be over 6 days long.)
And thank you for your help, Everyone.

If you usually buy inside cabins, I would recommend cruise first over cruise next. Cruise first can always be used on any cabin so just buy one or two when you see the $500 version for sale. That way, you always have a net $250 savings on your cruise. Cruise next double up is not always available on inside cabins, so you're only guaranteed to be able to use one, for a $125 savings. For the few times that they do allow double up on all cabins, then it's the same either way. One other thing to know about the cruise first.....if you cancel and rebook the same cruise that had a cruise first, you lose the extra value of the cruise first.
But if I want just the lowest price it sounds like i won't be able to use cruise first? Is there an option to buy just one add-on so it's no longer a sail away rate?
-
I always buy the cheapest cabin and rate possible. In the Cruise First fine print it says it's not applicable on Sail-Away rates. Is every basic room called Sail-Away?

Thank you for an explanation!

I'm not a slots player, but I'd play some if I thought it would get me a casino deal. Does anyone have any information on what I'd need to spend?

Cancel, rebook, and save $1000.

I can't imagine what is in all those suitcase and boxes? Please enlighten me! I take one suitcase for an up-to 45 day trip.

With all these complaints, I will be curious to see if Zuiderdam's impending drydock will bring the ship up to the standard that the "23 WC's expect. If not, the complaints herein will mushroom exponentially!
When is the planned drydock? I was ready to book the Zuiderdam 73 day Africa for 2023, but after reading this....yikes!

What did they charge for the test?

I'm sure in the past I've used my shareholder OBCs in the casino & also for the daily gratuities. But when filling out my form tonight it states "This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities." Has anyone had recent experience using the credits for either of these items? And I imagine these credits are not refundable at the end of the cruise? Thank you.

The longer the cruise the more you save!! ;-) I've got 2 15+ days starting in Sept. so I'll get $500!
-
Thank you so much everyone for clearing this up for me.

It's you buy 2 vouchers for $250 each, total of $500. They then give you $250 in obc. This makes the net cost to you $250.
If you also book a cruise on board with your vouchers they give you something additional. I believe it's an in category upgrade for free. Ie book an ID room and get upgraded to IC. It may be different now.

I don't understand, sorry. You're saying I pay $500. I get 2 certificates, each worth $250 towards the price of my next cruise. So far I'm even. Then you say I get $250 OBC--do you mean for each cert/cruise? So the price of my cruise is the same, the OBC is what I've gained?
-
I have a question about Cruise Next certificates. I understand when onboard you can buy 2 for $250, value is $500. Are there any other discount offers while onboard? Like "buy those certificates & we'll give you OBC"? Or something? I'm pretty sure the price of a cruise itself is not discounted. Help? (FYI my friend & I are in the process of booking 2 cruises NOW. But in 2 weeks she'll be onboard an NCL cruise.) Thank you!

I use a USA TA and have done for many years. The difference in pricing is often substantial. You also get the flexibility of being able to cancel and get your deposit back (not NRD rates), take advantage of price drops and move your gty cabin allocation .
What do you mean by "move your guarantee cabin allocation"? Thank you.

This is odd: Last week I called Princess & the agent told me we could bring on 2 6-pks of beer per person plus 2 6-pks of soda. I told her I had never heard about bringing on beer & she said yes, we could. Well today after starting this thread I called & asked again, & as you can imagine the answer is, of course, no beer. Should've gotten her name last week but what difference would it have made?
So my updated question is: where can I buy a couple 6-packs of soda?
TY!!

Next week we'll take Uber from the airport to the pier. Is there a place at/near the terminal where we can buy a couple 6 packs of beer & some sodas to bring onboard? Or what has your experience been asking a driver to stop somewhere along the drive?
Thank you for any info you can give us.

What's "UBD"? TY.

Arriving at the port city a day early doesn't have to cost $200. Can you say "Motel 6"?

For a long time, I thought you had to buy insurance through the cruise line. For a family of 5, the insurance was over $500. It just didn't seem to make financial sense to purchase it when it costs so much. But, then I learned (from this board) that I could insure our whole family for around $100 and get even better coverage than the cruise line offers. So, now, I do buy insurance.
I think people may not realize how inexpensive coverage can be if they shop around.
I'm wondering from what company you buy your insurance? I'd be willing to pay that kind of price. TY.
Shareholder OBCs Through HAL or CCL, not stockperks app?

I've always had my financial planner send my info to CCL. I called today to get the email address and they will only give me the stockperks app info. I've been poking around with this for an hour and I don't like it. Can I still use the old method, and what is the email address? TY!!
