  1. Man what a nightmare. I’m so sorry for everyone involved. I’m big on the Howie Mandel train of thought when it comes to touching public surfaces. Elevator buttons, hand rails, restroom handles, escalator handrails, door handles, etc. Use your elbow; a portion of your knuckle, a piece of your shirt; the corner of a credit card; a pen …… things like that. Hell I’ll even ask someone else to press the elevator button LOL. If restrooms don’t have a trash can by the exit door (a lot do these days), use a piece of tissue or hand towel to open the door and drop it on the floor. I’ll risk being a litterbug in lieu of grabbing a door handle then going back to my lunch table and enjoying my french fries 🤷🏽

  2. Notice I said it may not be on a cruise ship. I didn’t want to spill the beans but I did. momsays…. thank you for your uplifting, kind words. You’re right mom…. I’m not a cruise ship designer and i’m a dumbass. I guess just like the retard who thought about a gokart track on a ship; or a surf style flow ride getup; or rock climbing, or a central park, or a live tree or a real lawn….. such idiots……. who in their right mind would think that would ever work?? well Hey Mom….. dreams come true…. don’t be afraid to take a chance in life and never ever squash other people’s dreams. ever.

  3. OK- here’s my big idea. Work with me here… maybe not even on a ship; Vegas? All Inclusive? Disney?

Virtual snorkeling. ThinkThe Vegas Sphere… then think Imax/MetaQuest VR meets snorkeling in a 3ft deep warm pool.

Imagine you’re in this heated/temperate pool… you put your face in the water… and the ENTIRE pool bottom and sides are transformed into some

kind of giant 3D video/led/projection screen.

Imagine snorkeling the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor, or snorkeling with whales, sharks; or over the Titanic wreck…… all while floating in 3 feet of water. It could be licensed to Universal…. now picture snorkeling over the famous Ben Gardner’s Boat from JAWS…. Or snorkeling with your kids with Nemo, or with Winter the Clearwater Dolphin.  Or the underwater world from Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars. Or snorkeling with Octopus or Crabs….. almost anything that’s under water.

The technology would have to be perfected… but remember where you heard it first!!!!

VIRTUAL SNORKELING….. coming to a Mega Ship in 2028 LOLOL

Dont tell me I’m nuts - because I already know that.

  4. Has anyone ever through of an idea of something that should be offered or featured on a ship? What’s the best way to get an idea to the right people?

Crazy as it may sound, I have come up with an amazing idea… can’t say it here though. These companies and ship builders are always trying to out-do each other….. all dreams start somewhere!

  5. We just got off the Norwegian SKY last week out of MIA on a Bahama 5 day. Yes, it was 85% kids. Having said that, it was pretty crazy; very different than any cruise we took before. The 2:30am screaming in the halls, throwing up, and the most disturbing thing was the swearing. Language. F words. From GIRLS. At dinner, in the specialty restaraunts even. WTH is wrong with kids today? Is there NO respect or dignity? In the main dining room - F bombs. Is that the norm now, to talk like that?

The lines for drinks and food were insane. There are several measures cruise companies could take to help this.

We noticed that if you sit down at the bar, rather than stand inline behind 15 22-year olds, the bar servers would help us right away. Plus, the servers and crew were visibly frustrated with the kids. It was a treat for them to serve us, and to get a thank you or a short conversation from us. They should make some of the restaraunts and lounges "designated apparel only"; so you don't get thong bikinis and shorts in what is normally a dark, quiet whiskey or martini lounge. Or perhaps had a designated "over 40" cabin deck.

The trip did not suck. Would I book it again? probably not. I'm sure a 7 day trip weeds out alot of these issues. But it is absolutley a different experience.

  6. Well, to update everyone, I've decided to nix the idea based on some of your comments. I've pretty much decided that I'm going to "do it" privately at sunset the evening before we embark. One glimmer of hope - I did reach out to my reservations person and they actually forwarded my request directly to the Guest Services director who is onboard the boat! She responded saying to be sure to specifically ask for her when we get on board! I thought that was very cool. Hopefully she will hook us up in some form or fashion !!

  7. Some good comments here; thanks. I was certainly thinking along the lines of "hey Mr. Crewmember, I see nobody's around; you seem like a nice guy, can you do me favor..." type of thing. I only ask this because I've been in some "no access" places like this before, in a variety of circumstances. Never trespassing or "illegally" mind you. Once, I was on a popular boat (not a cruise ship), I asked a front line employee if they allow visits to the bridge. I was immediately told no, it's a coast guard and homeland security rule. I plotted my next approach, eventually found some other crew members on break, got chatting - and bingo - I'm on the bridge, shaking the Captain's hand on as we're underway. And I have it on video LOL My point being, usually, in some situations - things can be made to happen.

  8. I'm sure this has been discussed before. Are there any real, legitimate stories here about marriage proposals which took place on the bow of a cruise ship? I am extremely interested in this. This being my first real inquiry, I'm sure it's generally not allowed, and it is a crew-only area. However - rules were made to be broken and there's usually a way to make anything happen, in my experience.

    - Can this be ever done while underway? Does it matter what waters you're in or what flag the ship is flying?

    - Can I "tip" someone onboard to make this happen?

    - Many ships have webcams on the bow. Could this be done out of sight of the webcam so nobody sees anything?

    - Worst case I would even consider doing it while at the dock. Does that make it any easier?

This is serious. I'm not looking to hang over the bow like Leonardo DeCaprio and Kate did. All I need is to be taken out to the bow, with someone who can take a video of it using my phone. 10 minutes tops. I kneel down, ask her, give her the ring, hug & kiss.... then we're done. End of story. Don't tell me this can't happen.. somehow.

    Anybody got any suggestions?
