When our cruise was cancelled, even with the 125 percent voucher we were basically breaking even, if we rebooked the same cruise direct with Viking. I luckily found out that Viking had a travel agent only promotion going on. I saved 2 thousand dollars per person for the two week ocean cruise by booking the same cruise with the travel agent. It paid for a room upgrade, tips, shore excursions, and ssbp, with some onboard credit left over. Pays to have a good TA. TAs do have access to special deals at times, plus they should give some onboard credit.

It appears that Viking has updated their Health & Safety page with what to me are additional items that somewhat answer many of the questions we have been asking each other-including is the crew fully vaccinated, what happens if we are in close contact with a positive passenger.
There is also one item that discusses their insurance which at first reading seems to say that the plan will pay for quarantining….however after reading it several times, there is at least one too many “could”s and a “help” that concerns me. We have never purchased Viking’s insurance preferring to buy others. For those that have, can you give me an idea of how much it is for the Iceland trip? Do you know if it can be purchased at this late date (don’t feel like having to sit on the phone if one of you knows the answer already)? If you have a policy could you share the paragraphs related to quarantine?

I purchased another company's insurance. From what I understand most insurance policies will cover the cost of quarantining and trip interruption for you and your travel companion if one of you tests positive for covid. Not sure what happens if someone is forced to quarantine because of contact tracing if your covid test is negative. I was quoted $519 per person by Viking. I paid about $300 per person with another company but it did not come with cancel for any reason. I'm on the July 20 Iceland cruise.

If you go to post 1464 there is a link to a pdf that lists all the excursions, times, and prices from the July 3 Iceland cruise which was provided by Viking. Helped me a lot.
