This thread has inspired me.   We live in DFW and were just planning on staying in Galveston the night before.   I know that it is an interesting place to visit, but I've been several times, and DH lived there for many years, so we have a 'been there, done that' attitude.   But, DD has never been and our cruise leaves on a Monday.  I love traveling with DD and seeing things through her eyes.

The history of Galveston is very interesting.  In its early years it was an anomaly because it wasn't really controlled by anyone.

If you are driving up I-35, you will go through West.   You need to stop for a Kolache.   Get at least a fruit and a sausage one.

Not sure how old your DD is but we just spent several days before a cruise in Galveston. We drove down, so had the car and got a map of all of the wood tree carvings in the area. Rather than cut the trees down after the hurricane (I think it was Ike??)  wood carvers went around and carved many different things into the pieces of trees that were left.  Lots of different, really cool ones to see just driving around in the neighborhoods!

  2. We sailed Disney in early December and it was very foggy both leaving and coming back in. We kept hearing the fog horn and sailed right through it in both directions.  The fog was bad enough on the way out that the reflection of my flash on the camera caused a "white out" picture!

#9415 from Venezia arrives to Ferrara at 12:27, scheduled on track 3.

#17619 starts at Ferrara and departs at 12:35 from track 1, which is adjacent to the station.

This means you will need to transit under the tracks to get from track 3 to track 1, if everything runs to plan.

Ferrara arrivals here:  Orario dei treni in arrivo nella stazione di Ferrara - RFI

Ferarra departures here:  Orario dei treni in partenza dalla stazione di Ferrara - RFI

Thanks for the train numbers, arrival and departure information!!  Unfortunately our TA did not provide those. She didn't seem to understand that's we need to find the correct train and what track it is on!!  I really appreciate you!!

If you'll give me the train times I'll look on the quadri and see what tracks they are supposed to use at Ferrara.  That doesn't guarantee they will use them, but the plan is published and as far as I know they stick to it unless there is a reason they have to deviate.

Sorry it took me so long...

    Frecciarossa 10009415 arrives Ferrara 12:27pm

Regional Ttper 17619 leaves Ferrara at 12:35pm

  5. We just booked for September 18th. Part high speed (Venice to Ferrara), part regional train (Ferrara to Ravenna). We were able to choose our seats when booking directly through the rail lines. And thanks to Euro cruiser, we now know what to expect at the transfer in Ferrara.

We just did this last week! We had 20 minutes to make the connection in Ferrara, but seven minutes would have been ok if all the trains are right on schedule (which all of ours were). It is not too big of a station. There were plenty of screens to give us the bin number for our next train and plenty of signs directing us to the right number.

Thanks for all the detail!  One less stressor!

  7. We are taking the train from Venice to Ravenna with a change of trains in Ferrara. Anyone have experience with what seems like a "tight" train connection.  We have 7 minutes to get off of one train and board another.  Is the Ferrara station station large?  Will we have difficulty finding the right track??

We specifically asked not to be routed through Bologna because of other travelers coming from there and because of the recent train strike.  We also have signed up for the $10 shuttle from the train station to the pier.  Why did Royal/Italy have to make this so difficult??

We took the 7:30am RCCL shuttle to Marco Polo Airport,  and arrived around 10:15 am. You will be fine for an afternoon flight. You can try to secure an even earlier shuttle time. The shuttle left on time and we did not have much traffic.

Thanks Jacquelyn - very reassuring! That was our plan - first/earliest shuttle.  Are they checking luggage on the ship or do you have to do that at the airport?

Yes get a 15 bus from the stop next to the green market to Znjan beach (very frequent) ask the driver for the stop near the Amphora Hotel . For the able bodied there are plenty of benches under trees for shade. For the disabled or less able, there is one of the best beaches in europe. From a jetty you have an electric chair lift and  graduated steps onto a platform in the sea. Next to it is the Elderly beach with benches and umbrellas on a concrete platform. Full wheel chair access to the beach and sea. Toilets showers and changing room. The next door beaches are all stone. There are beach bars that usually have food like pizza. Me then my husband 58680918_567735557049297_8320582937871384576_n.thumb.jpg.7a63bcfc1fd4effb6d0cbcc7f38e1e4d.jpg

Wow!! That looks perfect!  Thanks so much 🙂

I live in Split (Znjan beach) with my British husband. I answered your post because we are planning to take a walk on on the MSC Armonia in October. We take the ferry mainly to Hvar and Brac. Anything else feel free to ask.

Planning on touring old town and then heading to a beach for a few hours. The water is so clear there (in pictures, never been there myself yet).  Have a suggestion for us?  We don't mind walking and will for sure want to get in the water but also wouldn't mind shade or chairs/umbrellas because some of the beaches look like they are stones rather than sand. Would also like to grab something to eat while on the beach (or close by) as well.

    Any questions, let me know!

Both cruises were spectacular. I found Brilliance more friendly, people were talking to one another and the overall vibe was very warm. Wonder seemed to have more groups, and people kept to themselves. Covid on both ships, I think it is unavoidable. I would be glad to answer any questions.

Just curious if you knew anyone who got off Brilliance and had flights from Marco Polo Airport that afternoon.  We are already booked on a Royal bus to take us back to the airport from the ship and several agents have assured my TA that we will clear customs and make our early afternoon flight. As of right now, we thankfully do not have to worry about Covid testing to get back to the states.

I  think that they should  use the Goop products that they are so hyped on and promote.

Right!?!  What better way to advertise than customers using your product and raving about it on these boards. 😁

On the APEX they have outdoor dinning for FINECUT but the server said that it was too chilly to serve out there and the food is cold by the time the dinner takes the first bite so they closed the outdoor dinning while we were on it in January so I can’t imagine it being warmer up on the resort deck for dinner.

That was our plan as well! To ask about dining outdoors at Fine Cut also. Hopefully it will be warm enough in early March. 🙂  Don't think I would have attempted it in January. I'm a wimp in cold weather.

Can you use the dining package for the dinner on the Edge?  I know on the APEX they said no because the upcharge was $129 per person but it was also full.  Although at night it does get quite chilly and windy when we were on it so I wonder what is it like during the “cooler” nights.

Cannot use the dining package. I asked/tried because we have a dining package reserved.  Reservations are first come, first serve only once you get onboard.

I'm hoping weather will be perfect in March 🙂

I thought I saw recent posts here that the Magic Carpet was not being used for dining - at least for the time being.  Am I wrong?

People on the Apex boards have  posted about having dinner on the Magic Carpet, not to be confused with the extension of dining with Raw on 5 when the Magic Carpet is positioned on Deck 5.  I tried to make reservations for Dinner on the Edge (of Apex) and was told it had to be done onboard and yes they were doing it.  We'll see in March......

  16. BennyBrun - what a fabulous job!! And your positivity made it even better!!  We originally booked our March 5th cruise for the ship, Key West and Grand Cayman.  Now it's just the ship, and you have sold us on that 10 times over ☺️ Best review ever and some of the best food porn ever!!  What a great job!  We were sold on still going no matter what and you just made us that much more excited to go!!

No worries! I just wanted to warn people because I was not make up ready for that! 🤣🤣

No worries, you probably won't be made up when getting on and off the ship in ports anyway and that's really the only time they use the photo on your sea pass card 😂
