This is what we did. We had 25-30 people show up. And I did check the most recent dailies I could find to make sure we weren’t going to run into NCL planned activities...

 

“The pub crawl is going to be on the first sea day, so day 2 of the cruise. In order to give those with small children time to get them to the kids club, we will meet at 2:15 at the Spice H2O bar on deck 16 aft. I will have mardi gras beads for everyone so we can identify our group. We will plan on spending 20-30 minutes at each bar, with Sugarcane possibly taking longer just because of the handmade drinks. I have fun things planned at each stop with prizes at the end. No worries, no crazy drinking games!

 

From Spice H2O, our route is as follows (arrival times to each bar are approximate in case anyone needs to meet up with us mid-crawl):

 

Chill Out Bar, deck 16 aft - 2:35-2:40

 

O'Sheehan's, deck 7 mid - 3:10-3:15

 

Sugarcane Mojito Bar, deck 8 mid - 3:40-3:45

 

Sunset Bar on the Waterfront, deck 8 mid - 4:15-4:20”

I am responsible for planning one for our cruise and never even have been to one. Can you share what type of games (fun things) and prizes you had?

I never did get an answer so I booked an Aft Penthouse which wasn't even on my original list.

I just got off the Dawn on Wednesday and was in an Owner's Suite. Our first day after embarkation was a port day. Our cruise was not normal though. We had 6 straight port days then 3 sea days. Our social was held from 6:30 to 7:30 on Day 2 (the day after embarkation).

I retired yesterday. Going to Mexico in the morning for a week to spend Christmas. 16 days from now I have a 10 day Caribbean cruise booked. Retirement should be fun!

We got our credit yesterday. It took less than 48 hours. It was very easy and a smooth process.

Glad to hear that it went so well. Did you email it in or send it by mail? I emailed mine in on Saturday and got a reply that they received it and I would hear something within 1 business day. Still nothing. I know that it is only a day and a half.

Yes, you can use it on sea days and in port. Although many ports we are going to have free wifi available somewhere.

I am on the same cruise and will have an internet package. I could always log you in on mine if you need it for a few minutes.

I almost added in the Southwest thing. If doing SW, this is one time I would pay for the advance checkin.

 

I am lifetime Silver at Delta and still take advantage of that when it works. We fly Southwest often. They do a great job and often have nonstop where we need them. Actually, we just got two southwest credit cards and should have companion pass in Jan or Feb and will be using that for 2018 and 2019 for plenty of flights.

I am also lifetime Silver with Delta working on lifetime Gold. I am also currently Diamond for this year and next. So I get unlimited upgrades to F/C, although we normally buy F/C tickets now. I am an hour and a half due south of you and we do not have Southwest here at all. We only have the 3 major airlines here. I would have to drive to BNA or BHM to fly Southwest.

They do have a per minute option.

 

Side note - you usually do not HAVE to check in the day before. You could check in that morning, or even when you get to the airport.

 

And, for most people, printing out a boarding pass is a waste of money. You can get that when you get to the airport.

Unless they are flying Southwest and want a decent seat or be able to sit together. That is 1 of the reasons that I will never fly Southwest again.

Jenteso, congratulations on your early retirement at 56. I just retired this year at the age of 74 (people think I look younger than what I am) from a large corporate office, but I loved my job, and they were moving, and I didn't want to move, as I lived so close to my job. That is wonderful that you can retire at this early age.

Thank you beshears! I am actually quite blessed and fortunate to be able to retire now and start my second journey.

I called about my Hilton reservation 2 weeks ago (Condado Hilton) for January 6th. They told me that everything was confirmed and resent me an email confirmation. Last week, I was sent an email telling me that my reservation was cancelled and was out of luck. I had to scramble to find another hotel. So much for being Lifetime Diamond with Hilton! CALL every week to verify and have a backup reservation somewhere.

How long after booking a cruise can you purchase insurance from a third party? I am still 7 months from the cruise but bought the cruise in June of this year.

They have shown those games in the past but (disclaimer) that is not a guarantee that they will show them in the future.

 

If I were I betting man though, I would say that it will be shown.

I am sailing on the Dawn in January. Does anyone know if they would be showing any of the college football games, specifically, the National Championship game? Most of the games, including the championship game are on ESPN. Thanks.
