  1. I did not intentionally set out to defraud them. When I made the bid, I had been told the funds would be available to me by June 1, so I made my upgrade bids with confidence. It seems there was a hiccup on the process, which yes I should have factored into account. When the finds are finally available on Friday, I will let the upgrade ride and try to pay for it. I am not a dishonest person, and I was not trying to do anything sneaky. It just fell out this way, which is why I was loathe to publish my business, as there are some very snarky and rude people here (not you!)

Is it true they will put us in a MS for 4 or will they try to cram us into a MS for 3?

From the reams of research I have done u will get an upgrade for 4 people. They def will not cram u into a cabin for 3 if there are 4 of you.

Let us know how Friday goes with NCL accepting ur offer of payment.

  2. i booked my cruise (inside room) on 17th aug 2017 and got option to bid on 18th Aug. (final payment made 23rd April) i eventually bid back in April and i go on Sunday.

my bids for balcony and mini suite are still pending even though my boat is fully booked and has been since May.

am hoping to hear before Friday - nerves are wrecked but will be happy with our room if i am declined.

think we bid just above the "fair" line, so bottom of "good"

this is our first NCL cruise and i know the bid process is dealt with by an independent company, so nothing to do with NCL themselves but i have no idea what makes some get their bids accepted or not as i have also read that high bids have been rejected in favour of smaller bids so am hoping our names are put into a hat lol

  3. We sail on Epic out of Barcelona in September. I can now book Specialty meals and shows. How necessary is it that I do immediately? Is one more important than the other? I’m a Disney traveler and at 180 days out, you must get some restaurants booked or you will not get a reservation in them. I’d love suggestions on the specialty restaurants, though I understand it’s subjective. Thanks in advance.

we go in less than 2 weeks and i would advise that you book your shows asap - better to have them booked than not. although there are stand by queues on the night, it saves the last minute thing.

re the restaurants, take a look at the website and see what you like the look of, then book them too. the ship only release a % of bookings so people can book when you board, but again, better to have them booked as soon as you know :-)

  4. hi guys

i know there are only 2 euro sockets and 2 usa sockets in the cabins, my question is, are they really close together? like side by side or separated by a bit of a distance?

i have 2 euro converters that are double adaptors, so twice as wide as a single plug and i want to know if i can use both of them at once in the 2 euro sockets?

if the sockets are close together, this wont be possible and i will bring a single plug and a 4 plug extension lead but trying to pack as little as possible so don't want to bring both.

    can anyone help?

    thanks

    cathy

  5. Also we skipped Naples as were told by several that it`s a dirty boring city. We used Umberto and he was fantastic!!! 1st to Pompeii (splurge for a guide-you will get so much more out of it) then to the AWESOME Amalfi coast! He`ll take you to a hillside restaurant where Everything is grown just next to the place-All the food and wine/limoncello (also homemade) for $25 Euros. An hour stop at Sorrento an back to the ship. Maybe our best excursion ever!!!

Did umberto guide u round Pompeii too or just get u there and back?

  6. Any feedback from experienced cruisers on this itinerary on Epic would be very welcome! Roll Call is pretty much all people trying to join or get people to join their off-ship excursions, so not really the nuggets of wisdom I am looking for.

Sailing out of Barcelona on the Epic - first time on the Epic, and first time in the Med! Have a family all-day excursion planned off-ship for Rome to make it theee longessst day, but it is definitely packing it all in. Other than that, I was noting how much pricier the excursions are to book on the ship for seemingly just a cab ride somewhere and back, with a 20 min. ride to a destination but it's still an 8-10 hour day.

So, I am wondering what ports - Naples, Florence, Majorca, Cannes - would it be easy to take a jaunt off the ship and kind of just check things out. Or if there's anything that is a must-see at any of those places. I am all about the Neapolitan pizza, in addition to history, art and literature. I am just amazed to be going.

However, I would like to strike a balance between seeing these beautiful cities but not feeling like I have been jamming in every possible activity in each port to the detriment of having a relaxing vacation - which is also much-needed.

Thanks in advance for anything you have to contribute! :D

Hi I am also on this cruise, 2nd time in the med. you can walk round Palma, Cannes and Naples from the boat, you don't need a tour. In Palma you can get the bus to the centre from just over the wee bridge when you get off the boat (go see the cathedral). Naples there is a segway tour for 1 hour or 2 which is fab (2hr tour includes the beach).

Florence is about 1hr 20 mins from our port but there is a shuttle bus to Livorno where u can get a public bus to the train station (10 mins) then the train to Florence (Santa Maria novella) or Pisa (20 mins to Pisa centrale)

We are going to Pompeii when in Naples via train from porta no lama station (40 mins). Getting the tram from the port to the station that leaves from the port every 5 mins.

  7. About if background to this cruise. We have wanted to see these places for a while, and whilst at the next cruise ambassador on our 3 day harmony cruise last year we saw this one and had to book it. We originally went for a panoramic ocean view room, which do look pretty awesome. Around January this year, we decided to downgrade to a regular ocean view to save some money, and ended up getting about £400 back. As it came closer to the cruise I kept an eye on our prices. Final payment came and went and then I noticed prices took a nosedive. Our cabin was now significantly cheaper (£900!) but as it was after final payment they couldn't (or wouldn't) adjust the price. So I asked how much it would cost to upgrade, and was told if we upgraded to a suite guarantee (w-grade) we would get £5 refunded to us! No question in my opinion so we took the offer and are looking forward to our first stay in any kind of a suite [emoji3]

I would just like to add that I don't begrudge RCL dropping the price as I know they need to fill there ships, but maybe offering us an urge add to another cabin instead of me chasing them would have been nice. But I digress....

We've Pre booked one excursion, RC'sL 2day tour in St. Petersburg. We normally do our own thing in ports (and will be in all the others on this cruise) and are confident travellers, but for various reasons wanted the comfort of RCL's excursion in Russia. We've also booked the BOGO dining package and am going to try and get Izumi and either chops or sabor. May do the sushi making class once onboard too, but we'll see about that later.

Can't wait for the cruise to start now, one work day to go!!

  8. I am bringing magnets as the walls are metal, an over the door pocket organiser for the bathroom, this will hold loads of stuff that takes up space in our very small cabin. Also bringing a flash light or 2 as we have an interior cabin. Oh and a small collapsible box to hold mine and daughters make up bits and pieces
