  1. Pleased to see some refunds coming through so I spoke to Princess Cruise Holiday Planner today and she looked into my booking and told me my refund cheque has been triggered and should arrive this week or next week.  I asked her if she was just saying this or if she was being genuine and she assured me it was genuine.  Will post again if true but it has given me some hope.

My cruise was 5th April and cancelled by Princess on 13th March.

  2. Is anyone paying balance of cruises booked after April 15 with P&O?

We have P&O 7 night Barrier Reef cruise  06-13 June with final payment due 23 March but phoned P&O

today and got extension until 6th April to pay balance. My question is do I cancel and lose $500 deposit

or pay another $2,000 approx and if cruise is cancelled, receive all money back via refund which is

taking up to 8 weeks to process. There is talk on other boards that cruise lines may go bankrupt.

    Any advice/opinions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  3. We have Cabin C742 on Majestic Princess and I found out from these helpful boards and this cabin is not covered. Have seen photos and video of this cabin on Regal and Royal and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is any privacy at all if I sit with chair back and close to sliding door. Wishful thinking probably, but we prefer covered balcony for privacy and sun shelter and have the option of changing to D724 which is covered but on the side of the ship. We prefer aft facing location. Does it have even a small overhang and can all decks above look down or just Baja deck? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

  4. We were on a guarantee booking for a suite on our last cruise on the Aria. I phoned P&O and put in a request for one up the front. They put the request on our booking but then I was told that the computer randomly assigns the cabins.....Was pleasantly surprised when we got suite 10006 up the front.

Not sure if my request helped but it's worth a try.

For what it's worth, I haven't read anything on the boards about noise issue for cabins under the pool deck on the Aria or Eden, so I think you will be okay, whatever suite you get allocated.

  5. This happened to me once, when the other passenger could not make the cruise due to illness.

My advice is if you are going alone, advise P&O. You will get a refund of port taxes for person not cruising.

You can take another person up to 48 hours before departure. Advise P&O of new person's name.

Travel insurance may re-imburse the cost but for valid reason, i.e. illness, etc. Not change of mind.

There will be no penalty and you will have the cabin to yourself as you have already paid for 2.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  6. The suites on Aria are great. Very spacious cabin and balcony.

You can make coffee and tea in the room.

Room service menu is free - including lunch and dinner.

Afternoon tea is available in the suite, must be pre-ordered the night before.

Fruit bowl is supplied and replenished.

Invitation to Meet the Officers cocktail party.

Priority dinner reservations when booking a table.

    Priority check-in and tender tickets.

The king size bed is very comfortable.

DVD movie list supplied and ipod station.

    Binoculars in cupboard.

    Fluffy robes, slippers and towels.

    Enjoy the suite...it's awesome.

p.s. We always try to book a suite at the front so as not to be under the pool deck.

Not sure if there is a noise issue on the Aria/Eden but we have experienced this in the past on the Pacific Dawn,so play safe now and avoid being under the pool deck.

  7. Apparently the reason I was charged $80 was that this was money spent on bingo/casino which does not come off OBC. On querying how I was supposed to know this, I was told it is on their website in the terms and conditions. Who reads through all this? I said that surely there was a better way of bringing this to people's attention and on other cruise lines including Princess who is owned by the same company, that every time I have had OBC, I have been able to use it for bingo/casino. I also asked them why was I given a final statement the last morning that showed $200 OBC, total spend including bingo/casino $199.93 with a balance of 7c credit clearly shown. Nowhere was it stated that my bill came to $80 and that this would be debited from my credit card, and nowhere did it show that I still had this $80 available in OBC. If I had know, I would have gotten a couple of photos or something to use it up. Showed the statement to a few people at my office and without exception they all read it as owing nothing the way it was presented. Needless to say after talking to a supervisor they are adamant I have to pay it - well actually they already have it. But maybe not for long hopefully - I have now lodged a payment dispute with my credit card company so we shall see what happens.

    Hi Datone,

Just wondering, did you spend money on bingo tickets or in the casino poker machines or tables? This happened to me on a past cruise with P&O. My bingo ticket purchases came off my OBC but on the last night when I went to check my account I was told that the bingo purchases were reversed. I paid my account in cash and then had to spend the $90 OBC in the shops. Luckily for me I found this out in time on the last night.

I can see how OBC can be cashed in on poker machines but bingo tickets are like purchases and cannot be cashed in.

I suggested that P&O should not allow bingo/casino spends to come off OBC in the first place. I was also told that it's in the fine print.

Apparently this happens quite a lot and passengers miss out on using all their OBC.

  8. Just got back today from Australia Day cruise.

A few days before we left we also contacted P&O re compensation and were told that the pax who got extra $100 OBC was because of 'other issues'.

I replied that this seemed incorrect as others were given OBC because of change of itinerary. Received email from Customer Service Supervisor who only offered full refund. I replied stating that we were disappointed in the way P&O gave to some and not everyone and we were given the extra $200. I guess it pays to keep contacting them to get a reply as it was only a couple of days before sail date.

We were asked to keep it private and off social media as no more OBC were being offered.

  9. Have sailed on both QV and QE and had a theatre box every night at no cost.

The boxes are set up with glasses and ice bucket if they're booked for the night and we found on our 16 night voyage only one or two boxes were booked about 3 times during the cruise. So there was no problem getting one.

We did go early (at least half hour before the show).

The waiters come around to the boxes so you can order a drink if you wish.

No need to book and pay the $55.00 charge unless you wanted the half bottle of champagne and chocolates.

We found the best view (for 2 people boxes) were the lower row and we preferred the second or third from the stage. The first from the stage was a more sideways view.

  10. Hi Dan,

We were booked on same cruise and opted to change to 21 July, 2017 cruise to keep same itinerary to North Qld.

We did not have to pay extra even though the fares have risen.

P&O just changed our date and the cost remained the same.

We also received an extra $25.00 pp OBC.

Kept the same cabin as well.

We booked this cruise on $1.00 deposit promotion and now don't have to pay balance of deposit until 22 January and final balance in May 2017.

  11. thank you for that and i have booked marked it

did they get busy with the people off the ship

We did the first tour at 10.30am with Brad and his wife was at the Marina taking further bookings as they do a tour every 2 hours, so not sure how busy.

Brad did say he will go out with only 2 passengers but I think he probably had no trouble getting 8 at a time on cruise days.

  12. Recently cruised to Port Douglas and we did a 90 min river cruise with Waterbird Cruises.

The boat has an electric motor and is whisper quiet.

Cost is $35.00 and includes bubbly, wine or beer beverages. It takes maximum of 8 passengers and we had a lovely time and saw some crocodiles as well as birdlife. Promised the new husband and wife operators I would mention the tour and I thoroughly recommend it. Great value.

You can book at the Marina where the ship tenders drop you off.
