Although I've not posted on this thread for ages, due to no internet at home and having to use this Micky mouse phone, I have kept in touch with goings on. So would like to add my best wishes to everyone involved in the recovery and also to everyone on here that's made this a great place to be kept up to date with what's been going on.

It's fascinating how much that accommodation barge moves around.
-
Interesting pics, looking at the angle of the seabed (rockface) it's a miracle the ship didn't slide under the waves on that January night 2012.
-
Lots of activity today:)
-
The site today looks clearer than it's been for months:confused:
-
Thanks for the link, it's amazing stuff!

Looks like a really bad day to be in Giglio:(
-
It almost looks like they've replaced part of the funnel this morning:confused:
-
The top part of the funnel was removed some time ago, I did wonder then why they only took the top part off assuming there must be technical difficulties in removing the rest.
-
My thoughts on the "caissons" are just the opposite. I thought they were going to fill them with water as a counter ballast to help pull the ship upright, as and when the time is right they would be pumped out to float the ship?
I may be wrong (nothing new there then) but if right, the weight of these on the hull portside is what might cause the problems as the hull wasn't designed to bear that kind of load on the side, hence all the strengthening beams that have been attached to her portside:confused:
-
I know this isn't a poll, but I think the salvage operation will succeed:) so much money, time, technology and planning has gone into it, I think the only thing that could jeopardize the operation would be should the structural integrity of the concordia fail.
-
They are moving in some sort of steel frames to the sea side of the vessel (right now). Difficult to see what they are, but clearly not the cassions (yet). Could be part of the underwater frames.
Yup, I reckon that's what they are.
-
Could have moved off due to the poor weather.
-
WOW fantastic image, thanks for posting:)
-
Well whatever it is, it's lit up like a christmas tree:)
-
OK here's the pic I got yesterday. Just to point out that this picture is taken from the Giglio news webcam and such remains their property.:)
-
Another huge chunk of floating equipment arrived today, I grabbed the picture off the webcam but daren't post it here due to the statement on the webcam page:(
-
Welcome back Clive.
Noah, whilst I appreciate your info on Chrome that is something I will not use on my puter. I tried it out once and it messed up everything on my puter with a virus.
Same here:(

It's back! Micoperi 30, that is:D
As for the pics above, I have to wonder if they are the anchor straps that are there to secure the ship from slipping further under when the writing process begins. They seem to pass under the ship.
-
Micoperi 30 is heading north to the nearby port of Piombino, no idea why though:confused:

When I type the name Norwegian Dream into the AIS website it comes up with "no record found" so her name and old call sign must now be history.
It will be good to know what name they give her.
-
I've just found this and copied it from "cruise industry news" website.
Norwegian Dream Update Friday, 10 June 2011 | Written by CIN Staff Since lingering in Greece and reportedly having been tied up in legal matters, the Norwegian Dream has moved to Asia.
The ship was heading east in April, and docked at Sembawang Shipyard before being anchored off Singapore. Port officials confirmed to Cruise Industry News that the ship was anchored there, but had no plans to berth.
Despite rumors of a sale, charter, or the possibility operating for Star Cruises, the Norwegian Dream continues to be a question mark.
In a statement prepared for Cruise Industry News, Genting Hong Kong (which owns Star Cruises, the owner of the ship) said: “We can confirm that Norwegian Dream was docked at Sembawang Shipyard for technical dry-dock last month.”
-
Well it looks like she finally made it to Singapore. I suspect her identity will be very soon changed.:(
-
The Dream sailed from Piraeus about 4 weeks ago now, she went through the Suez canal, down the red sea and into the gulf of Aden, at which point she disappeared off the ship tracking site and not been seen since:(
The info should appear in this link along with lots of pics of her
