I would not be surprised if Celebrity would start serving hors d'oeuvres in some of the bars.  Or course there would be some kind of add-on such as $9.99 (+18%_ for a cocktail hotdog :).  Or perhaps they would include it as a new "perk" and have a $20 per passenger day "fare adjustment" for those that want the little dogs.  A crispy cocktail egg roll would only cost $14.95 (+ 18%) with probably an extra 20% surcharge if you want it hot.

We usually take OBC and the Classic Alc perk, if 2 are offered. They are making booking a cruise like a trip to the dentist!

Will it be worth it to pay  $28 extrac for two daily  for  someone like me who has no more than one alcoholic drink a day, if that...but enjoys special  tea, water, and  club soda. Dh might  have 2 beers and a scotch, max,,,  I think serious drinkers almost aways move up to the Premium..We have been  happy with the Classic.

. We  will now have to do a  spreadsheet type analysis.  Would the cost/ value of our drink expense equal  $28 extra  per day ?  We can carry on waters & sodas, 2 btls of wine for the cabin , buy dh a btl of scotch from the online  gifts  and get on board freebies at the Elite hour..  spoiled by not having to sign chits for all we order but it may come back to that,..

Could take OBC and use that to cover a dining package or specialty fining  instead,,,

We have 4 cruises already booked so  who knows what will hapoen by our next booking???

For our children, we get OBC and Tips paid; originally, their drinks package offered was only the classic non-alcoholic and they only drink the frozen virgin drinks (which isn't covered). It's cheaper for us to pay for that out-of-pocket.

DH and I get the classic (upgrade to Premium) and OBCs. We maximize the use of the drink package in all facets available. (Teas, Sparkling Water, Bottled Drinks, Premium Alcohol)  🤣

: Each of the first two guests in a qualifying inside, ocean view, veranda, Concierge Class, or AquaClass stateroom are eligible to receive two amenities with the choice of a “Two Perks Included” rate: Classic Beverage Package, Unlimited Internet Package, $150 per person onboard credit (“OBC”), or Prepaid Gratuities. Selecting the Beverage Package Perk will result in an increase to the price of cruise fare; amount varies by length of sailing

Terms and conditions comes from the current "deal" flyer http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/CEL_October_Offer_OBC_Plus_KidsSailFree_Non_Editable.pdf

They are also back to requiring a non-refundable deposit to be able to book with no perks.

    So....

Is this going to be applied to new bookings, or should I expect to shell out $252 in November on our 9- night out of Port Everglades, for my husband and me? (Why not factor this new fee into the rate so I don't kick off my cruise already in the hole?)

Thanks for the update. I had not expected to use half of my OBC towards fees that I didn't expect.

  4. Friends,

A nasty rumor is going around that recently (yesterday) there was a release from Celebrity to TAs that all Perk Drink Packages, will now have a $14/day surcharge charge, added upon embarkation.

This amount is not a "tip", or an amount to upgrade the package to Premium, but a daily fee associated to having the perk.

Have any of you heard of this? I'm hoping this is simply a rumor, but the rumor spreader seemed fixed in their declaration and concluded with it was "in X's plans to implement" once they introduced the Premium Plus Package (which should be completely independent of this discussion).

Thanks to any help you all may be! This may change our future decisions on perks.

A few years ago, DW and I had a beverage package issue that we were unable to resolve onboard, and guest services were unable to get Miami to resolve it either. Upon our return home, I sent an email to Michael Bailey, then President and CEO of Celebrity, expressing my disappointment with the manner in which the situation had been handled. Once it hit the office of Mr. Bailey, the issue was resolved quickly and to our complete satisfaction.

While the details of your case are somewhat different, there is a similar inherent lack of logic to Celebrity's stance. Given the fact that they are paying a full adult fare, but are still minors, they should be given the premium non-alcoholic package automatically as the closest in price to the perk they'd receive if they were older. There should be no need for them to upgrade, it should be an entitlement. While you could wait until you board and try to get some satisfaction, you might want to try engaging the office of Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, current President and CEO well in advance of your cruise to see if you can make a sufficiently strong argument. If you can't convince them that the kids should automatically get the premium package, perhaps you can at least get agreement that an upgrade is reasonable.

    Good luck.

Thank you for your posting! I will do just as you suggested!  I know to some, my posting may seem frivolous; however, I agree my children are entitled to similar/like perks as we are paying full fare for both of them.

  6. I'm jumpstarting this thread again:

Last year on our Equinox sailing, I tried (very nicely, each time) through Captain's Club (we're Elite) 800#; Front Desk; Captain's Club on-board Rep; and Concierge, and was told they could not upgrade DD nor DS's beverage package. I guess I'll try on our Thanksgiving sailing on the Equinox, this year.

Anyone had any success recently in getting their full-fare, minor child's, beverage package upgraded to Premium Non-alcoholic?

    Thanks!

  7. Hello All,

We are experienced cruisers and have been on Celebrity quite a few times. Our daughter was born in March and we are considering taking her on her first cruise. We are currently thinking about either the Reflection or the Silhouette on Dec. 3rd or 4th.

My question is this. Has anyone done a Celebrity Cruise with a young baby? Is there stuff to do? I know she is too young for the youth centers, but I'm wondering if there are any other activities that she would enjoy.

Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Both of our babies were exactly 6- months old when we cruised with them. We had a great time with them; start their travels early and they will be excellent travelers as they mature. We started our babies out on RCCL, but I know that Celebrity will do an amazing job taking care of you and your family!

Ignore those "anti-children" posts. Enjoy yourselves but pack smartly. I have lots of tips. Feel free to message me with any questions!!

  8. We are experienced cruisers and are thinking of trying Celebrity. Is this a good line to try with children ages 11 and 18? Thank you.
Our children prefer Celebrity over RCCL. We always give them a choice and it's always Celebrity. They are (now) 12 & 8, but our daughter has loved Celebrity since she was 3. We used to cruise RCCL a lot, so our daughter is Diamond/Elite on her own, but she always exclaims Celebrity when they're offered the choice.

Our son enjoys Celebrity because they have video game systems in the Kid's Club, as well as better food. [emoji14]

  9. I know Sparks. I understand prices fluctuate and marketing strategies come into play but I was surprised the new better promotion was offered only one day after I booked my cruise. If the new deal had come out sometime later I wouldnt have complain but only one day later?
This is why you *never* break the cardinal rule of cruise procurement: NEVER check on a price after you have fully paid it. It will kill your soul; but you can't blame the cruise line. They're in it to sell rooms - but like other posters mentioned, most likely the "sale" really isn't a sale.

  10. I am guessing you have a military saving rate which is combinable with perks while a military rate normally isn't.
    My two yen.....

This thread piqued my interest in my Go Better Perks Package (OBC & Drink Package) combined with "Military Savings". I never knew there was a difference between "Military Rate" vs. "Military Savings".

  11. Yes, I like rums so I know what Zacapa, Barcardi 8, Flor de Cana and Pyrat taste like so I can tell if I am ordering from a bartender. Vodka is more difficult but it has a bite yo it I know is not grey goose.
Your 100% correct. I can detect when they use Absolute vs Grey Goose - I'm not a fan of Absolute at all.

  13. If you have the Premium package you absolutely have to specify the alcohol brand you want or it will be made with the well brands. People assume that the sticker on your card denoting PAL would automatically mean your pours were call brands but we have found that is not the case more often than not....
This is an excellent suggestion; I guess I'll have to create a listing and maintain it on my mobile devices. Even then, unless I go to the bar myself, I can't guarantee they'll use the liquor I request unless I can tell the difference.

  14. I was going to say the same thing. We always did this and it worked well....although we usually upgraded them to the premium non alcohol package, but at least they were able to get the classic as a perk.
We always book them in their own room on RCCL; Celebrity changes the rooms for the kiddos at the Port. It's in "the notes" - kiddos in their room; DH and I in our's. Our rooms are connected by balcony (along with 6 other reservations that are traveling with us).

    Thanks for the heads-up!

    Cherrel.

  15. Absolutely no flaming. DD cruises with us all the time. Yes - press for the premium non alcoholic package. They can get anything they want anywhere without issue (Not alcohol of course!). The classic one doesn't include things like ice tea or - as you discovered - the virgin cocktails. DD has had the premium pack since our first cruise and we have always managed to get it complimentary one way or another. Through the TA or booking through future cruises. Not scamming it! As adults we have the premium pack too...
Thanks so much for the quick reply! I will press for the Premium Package for the kids, then. I felt I should have last cruise, but I'm not one to cause any ruckus aboard ship.

DH and I dont mind the $130 upgrade to Premium Alcohol Package, per adult. We take full advantage of the upgraded liquors and mixed drinks.

  16. My husband and I always book on-board for future cruises to take advantage of the OBCs offered by X or RCCL.

My minor daughter and I are in one stateroom and my minor son and husband are in another. One of the perks we received was the Alcoholic Beverage Package. Last year, we had the same perk but they only gave us the Soda Package for our minor, full-fare children. We ended up upgrading both of their packages to the Premium Non-alcoholic Package so they could have virgin frozen drinks.

Should I press for a better non-alco for our minor children? I felt they only receiving the soda package as a perk was not on par for what they "could" have recieved had they been adults; or is the soda package a standard even for non-alco consuming adults?

Please, no flaming for bringing my well behaved, full-fared children with me on vacation.

    Thanks Much!

    Cherrel.

  17. My friend is on a cruise in October. She and her friend have been planning this cruise for over a year and they are about to buy insurance for it. (Past Final Payment)

They did not purchase insurance but plan to, today. Her friend has recently developed health issues (not diagnosed) and plans to visit the doctor this week. She's worried her condition may prohibit her from going.

    Questions:

    1. If she buys insurance prior to the diagnoses and the doctor recommends NOT to cruise I'm assuming she'll get her money back. Do most plans require a certain number of days purchased prior to the plan paying the person back? (Example: Buys policy today; finds out this week she has an issue and can't cruise. Or is there a minimum number of days she must have the plan active?)

    2. Since one of the original PAX still plans to go, could she just swap another person to take her friend's place. I am assuming there would be a "name change" fee.

    3. My friend just goes by herself and does not tell the Port her friend isn't coming. Would she incur the single supplement penalty?

    4. My friend wants to go on the cruise regardless if her friend goes or not. If her friend gets reimbursed by insurance, would my friend get her money back or would she able to cruise without her? (And not pay the Single Supplement?)

    Thanks Much!

  18. Celebrity has recently changed their website. I'm trying to find out what is the minimum age to "self-checkout" of the kids area on Celebrity. I thought I had read you must be 12-years old; however, I'm unable to find this information anymore.

I know on Royal Caribbean, the minimum age is 10-years old.

    Thanks so much!
