Just a couple of people boarded the ship (traveling with a large group) a few weeks ago that were already sick but due to policy could NOT CANCEL the cruise so they got others infected, hence the CDC report. this is very common. No matter what ship or line this can happen HENCE always wash your hands for 20 seconds . lots of soap and water and dont touch your face and you will be fine.

As of now. All was perfect

I also just got off this ship, same time.

Everything normal.

Has to be the cleanest ship on the fleet now. Super clean. Only report of sickness was several Sea Sickness and one Swimmers ear according to a nurse I ran into off the record.

Just walked on the Crown Nov 13 th sailing. Everything normal on the buffet. They had pre made sandwitches and rolls.

There was the standard health letter in my door about be sure to wash your hands and they also have a tv channel show on how to wash your hands. Normal stuff

Ice make in the very back in the buffet was broken. Other wise perfect so far. It is sunny and hot in port

It is a fact. You can only get Noro if it enters your body.

This means dont touch your face and dont touch your food and then eat it. For example dont get a dinner roll and touch it and then eat it. If you have Noro on your hands it then gets on the roll, then you eat it.

Wiping your room helps with other virus but only some to none with Noro as you need stronger cleaners like Bleach or an other cleaner (I forgot the name).

This is why only a few ever get Noro on Ships, but they have to report it at such small numbers like 13 to 30 people depending on the size of the ship. If that is say out of 3,300 people we are talking just a small percentage, same percentage you get on land but they dont have to report it.

In other words, dont touch your face and you cant get it so dont worry, this is all just hype and bad press.

This by far would be my vote for First Place if we could vote or rank them.

Was on it Aug 2017. Been on a a lot of Ships. This by far is the best one yet.

Most dont come here and post positive things so there could be 10,000 Positive posters but they never post here, only 10 negative posters there and then everything thinks the ship is bad. I would not rely on counts of yes or no here.

I wanted to present an other way of looking at this as starting now, it is a totally different ship now. There is a reason the Northern cruises get Noro more.

The sailing with the outbreak was on a North Easter Fall Cruise far up north to look at the fall leaves.

Typically older people with an average age of 60 is on board. They have stats on this.

Seems like the older you are the more that chance of getting sick due to a compromised emune system.

Also it was up north and cold , everyone in side.

North the ship will be for the Caribbean down South where its warm with younger customers outside drinking a lot at the pools.

Fact is the future sailing are a totally different ship as in there is different customer ages and more are out side.

Think what they say about flue shots, the elderly need it first for a reason so do the very young, also you dont get the flue as much in warmer weather as everyone is out side.

I am sure this ship will be fine. I am on it in Nov 13 also. I will bring wipes and hand sanitizer like everyone else. We will be fine.

TIP: use hand sanitizer BEFORE and AFTER going through the buffet line. Before in case your about to get sick and dont know it yet, and after for after you touched the spoons and scopes. It just use hand sanitizer at your table as you bring your food back. What ever you do dont touch your face thats how it get in your system

This is real but only for few. I think it is over now as it was for a limited amount of rooms they needed to fill ASAP.

Carnival does this also from the Casino department. Carnival and Princess are the same company.

The computer has a formula to get players back into the casino ASAP. It is not base on $$$$ . played in the past only that you did play.

Some if this is a Lottery as the computer just picks casino players that the formula thinks they will come back.

P.S. I only gambled $40 on slots, but they were $1 slots . that got me in the system.

Most likely they will offer this again next November as there seems to be a pattern to this, mixed in with Hurricanes.

IT WAS LIKE CAMPING, I told everyone except with a real nice Shower and a free buffet. . .

Did it in August with 4, not a problem as there is plenty of room under each bed for two full size suit cases. I just left my stuff in the suite case. Others used the drawers and I did hang up my shirts.

We only used the room to sleep so was not a problem. Sat out side on the deck most of the time

Was on a Princess Cruise which is owned by Carnival Corp.

Last month the ship was late leaving. Then about 20 mins after the time we were to leave FOUR yes 4 buses showed up from a large excursion.

Everyone took their time getting on board. It was a Cruise line book exclusion so there was no way they were leaving with out them as per their policy they (Carnival Corp) would of had to pay to get them to the next port.

I got the calculator out, for the date and ship I wont, no matter how I do it the Labor day sale is more. What a gimmic.

Last years labor day sale everyone got a sale price AND $50 on board credit (I checked using that waybackmaching dot comm web site where you can enter in past dates)

So everyone new , either use a travel agent or watch out for those miss leading Carnival Sales that are not really sales. The other promos may be better so be sure to click that show option button and get the calculator out.

I just check and it looks like the price went up $30 compared to last week.

Here is a tip on how to check this to make sure you are getting a sale price in case some do not know how.

You have to be careful on their web site, or better yet call a Travel Agent as the Web Site will try to trick you and make it look like they are running out of rooms when in fact they are not, they just only show so many rooms at a time. Travel agents can seem more, but downside to agents is you are then locked into them for any minor change or upgrades (they then own your reservation), the trade off is you may get a lower price and they get a commision (win win for both I guess).

On the main web page price out your Cruise, pick the type, and select Pick your Cabin.

For example select the Cabin and the Date and say a Balcony for $xxx

Then select CHOOSE FROM OPTIONS

Enter how many rooms and people

Select State if prompted

Choose Room Type again

Select let me choose room

HERE IS THE KEY- then select MORE OPTIONS . here you will sell Carnival pricing reg, sale, past sale customer pricing everything. Then you will know if the Sale is really a sale price, if you see other lower prices it most likely is not a sale at all or worse like this weeks sale, the price went up.

To further see price, do this again but log off if you logged on, pricing will change again, most of the time it goes up more, sometimes it shows rooms that were not there before.

Tricky sale system.

I have been tracking prices for a month now for a Cruise in September.

There is a web site called the Wayback Machine dot comm that records the front page of every web site going back years.

I noticed a pattern that Carnival always has a sale on Labor Day.

Last year it was $50 On Board Credit plus sale price.

This Year, strange thing is the Sale Price More than Reg Price and NO credit. How can this be sale?

I got to wonder if they raised prices so all those with cancel credits dont get as much for their credit.

Increase is averaging $30 more per room type.

I noticed drink prices seem higher at sail away. Watch out for those with trays of drinks.

I always wait. Then I can drink more for the money.

Remember every time you buy something at a cash register a VERY large photo of you shows up on the screen. So if someone took your card they need to look like you.

The hand scanners also have a photo of you but it is smaller, even the scanner at the doc to get on and off has a photo of you.

think of it as like a finger print.

Plus if someone took your card, just report it missing or stolen, customer service will then eval all charges to see if someone did something.

Check in time was super fast using the mail box method. Saves them hours.

I got one planned in a few weeks , too late to buy insurance.

Then I got a text form some one at sea now, said they ran out of Eggs for Breakfast and no longer have some meats on the buffet as they are running out of fresh foods.

Then I read this that said they are going to an other port for more supplies.

Yep, next time I will get insurance.

You have seen the warnings about Mexico (also in the USA NewsPaper) and also often the cruise lines even warn you.

Beware of any strange mixed drinks on shore. Drugged or Spiked, you just never know.

For us it was . Spiked or Drugged Rum Mixtures sold near the North Terminal at Grand Cayman.

Dont remember where as the Four of Us barely made it back to the boat after just Two Drinks it was very very close to the North Terminal at Goerge Two (Carnival Freedom docs there sometimes).

Something was just not right for it to impact all Four of us (Two couples).

It was so bad we were actually the very Last ones back on the ship, none of us remember much but we know how bad we were from the accounts from others already back on the ship. We just remember having 2 drinks. Other friends not drink already back on board had to help us get to our rooms, they say they could of done anything to us as we were so out of it.

So just a reminder, all those warnings you get, they are true, try to ONLY drink from a Can and dont let any place in a strange town mix up some kind of drink or rum punch mixer.

YesI know there were a lot of I told you so warnings out there, but for some reason we all forgot about the warnings that day and messed up.

Almost caused us to miss the boat . PLUS we slept it off for the next day so its like missing a whole day of the cruise.

Got to wonder if this is just for gathering phone numbers so they can spam you.

I just find it strange, that they are all the SAME company and they could do these very minor changes to make things better, do the two cruise lines talk to each other? Same company its all Carnival Corp.

Here is my Review , I did Carnival in April and just got off a Princess Cruise.

Carnival and Princess is own by the same company (Carnival Corp). It is my hope that Carnival Corp reads this and hires a few extra people to fix some of the concerns so it is fixed by my next Carnival cruise in December (yes 3 cruises this year).

I noticed Princess seems to charge a little more on the base rates. Labor Counts impacts Profit and pricing. I wonder if it is because they hire more people to help with the following:

GERMS

===========

1. Princess has a person stationed at EACH Buffet and Dinning room entry point , they make you use hand sanitizer or go and wash your hands BEFORE they hand you a plate. You can not enter the buffet line until you do this. This helps prevent the spread of the Norovirus and other Germs.

Once in the buffet you touch every scope handle, if someone before you had the Norovirus and you then touch your mouth later as you eat, you now have it

On Carnival any one can walk in, yes they do have the hand sanitizer there but no one uses it. They do not hire someone to watch the entry line or hand you a platte.

2. Princess hands you the platte and silver ware to prevent you from touching the other plates as you grab yours. Again think about that Virus that spreads on cruise ships.

On carnival you grab a platte, but when you do you hand touches the next platte in the stack. Same for the napkin.

BOARDING OFF BOARDING

3. Getting on the ship for Princess they had a lot more staff to help get you though, but telling you where and when to go to what line and place and to help with luggage, then at the counter , there was double the staff processing check ing.

The getting on board took us Half the time as it did on Carnival ad we boarding at the same time slot

On princess they had a Desk with a person sitting there all day to help with the getting off the ship the day before, you could change your off boarding time. ON Carnival there was no dedicated person there to help, again labor cuts.

4. Getting off the Ship, same thing, lots of extra staff telling your where and when to go. It was so fast I though maybe I missed a step.

ENTERTAINMENT

5. Same thing again, LABOR. I noticed on Princess in the Main theater they would have a live Band (a full band), for music for the shows, on Carnival they always used recorded music. Again Labor cuts on the band (there is none)

ROOM STEWARDS

6. Our room steward at 16 rooms, yet he would still do service TWICE a day.

On carnival, he also had 16 rooms but said they now only do Once a day.

My guess is Princess is using assistant room stewards to help with the main room steward so he can do 16 room, again all comes to labor cost.

EVERYTHING ELSE

For everything else the Two ships were the same from Food to shopping to wait staff, after all they are the SAME company Carnival Corp.

CONCLUSION

Carnival should hire more people to at least fix the GERM concerns.
