We purchased about $70 worth of lite beer during the week, generally and mostly as a reward for my 1-1.5 hour walks on the outdoor top walking / running track that is my tradition and $40 bottle of Pinot Noir from Eden. We brought two bottles of my favorite on board.

Hi! I just wanted to clarify with you. Are you saying you spent $110 for the week on alcohol without the beverage package but will be purchasing a beverage package for the next cruise, which is about $1200 for two people, solely based on the service you received?

Or am I reading that wrong?

Wow! Ascent is lovely. I arrived at 11:15 and was onboard at 11:30. S1 10123 is a fantastic location right behind the forward elevators right up to the retreat decks. Met my retreat host Ivan and the head butler Miljan. Asked to make sure I was signed up for Go Green ( which I did pre cruise online). I need those points to get to Elite after this trip. I'm not actually having my cabin serviced although Miljan said Ivan could wear a mask and come do it if I wanted. I got a short sleeve light hot weather robe and a kettle to heat up the water for my eye mask in the morning. Luminae is putting my meals with covers to go and I'm bringing up to the retreat deck bar area on my tray. Had to eat in the more covered part tonight after the rain went through this afternoon and wet down all the uncovered chairs at the tables. I had the halibut with potatoes for lunch (didn't like the veggie sides) and the poached lobster and red snapper for dinner. Then went back down and brought up dessert. The chocolate palet was so good! And I'm chocolated out as Cafe al Bacio had my favorite chocolate tartlets today and I ate three... and have 2 in the fridge for later as they might not show up again this cruise. Laura in the Retreat Lounge kindly rustled up a bottle of late harvest wine for me from Luminae to keep in the lounge. $19 a glass so only $2 extra pay for me. Says there's a Canadian ice wine shot size for $48 which I plan to try tomorrow. Will get that in Luminae.

I visited Blu about 4:30 and was told no issues eating there during the cruise. I stopped there first just past 5:30 and they put me in the far back corner. I tried the appetizer macadamia nut-crusted sea scallop (which was better on paper) and the creamy crab bisque, taking a few bites and putting my mask back on while I ate. No one was near me at that early time.

    Yes, I like seafood!

I wandered the whole ship several times. The rooftop garden area is pretty. I was unimpressed with the horribly uncomfortable chairs along the back of Eden and the hanging swinging chairs with the backs right against the walls so you can't actually swing.

Thought The Cosmopolitan was the prettiest of the 4 main dining rooms.

The shower combo unit in the suite bathtub is wonderful. I made the water super hot. Can have come from the big overhead shower or out the two horitzontal jets or out the shower wand or out the spout into the tub.

Did you just hijack her review? Or did this thread just become a review-a-thon? 🤣🤣

Funny. I do not work for MSC and all cruise lines have problems. I am just stating that people need to get over the little things. MSC is not the only one with problems. People are complaining about Celebrity's night buffet has been cut down to one line also. Geez.

This is why I don't do reviews. Would you rather me come on here and harp on everything that went wrong and only review the bad even though I had a great time?

The OP gave a review with only negatives. I went on the same ship and showed where she just needed to walk a few feet to correct her problem.

Hence the laughing emoji. Take a joke guys..

I just got off of an 11 day cruise on the Meraviglia this past Thursday and just feel the need to respond to some of your comments. I read your review before I left and since I have read so many people rethinking their MSC cruise because of this I decided to check these problems out myself.  I have never written a review but this review made me rethink that.

Below in red is my responses to what I found. I only answered the things that I knew about or dealt with during the cruise.

Spent our honeymoon on meraviglia for a Christmas cruise

I've cruised RC and Carnival thought we would try MSC - Big mistake

ship was pretty - balcony cabin very nice -  that's about it....

buffet was bland Food is subjective and everyone is different. We did not find the buffet food bland at all. Lots of variety.

Specialty dining - not worth the cost I did have the Butchers Cut, was Diamond Meal but the food was awesome. Had the Lamb Chops that were cooked to perfection and so tender. Paid extra for the Seafood Tier and WOW, so much food and it was great.

EIther a surcharge or limited choices on menu I don't understand the surprise since most people look at the menu before they purchase the package.

service was inadequate - seemed wherever we were on the ship, bars or restaurants "didn't have" many items on their menu We were on the cruise for 11 days and rarely found this issue.

    Hola - no guacamole

gelato and crepes - no crepes

Irish pub - several beers unavailable We did not try all the beers on tap but found they had everyone we asked for. They did run out of Blue Moon on tap the next to last day but had it in bottles.

buffet- ice machine not working Due to this comment, I decided to count the ice machines in the buffet. There was 8 different machines that I counted, I may have missed some. Maybe one ice machine might not have been working but all of them?? Did you not walk around to the next station?

always out of juice Wow, very surprised because with 8 drink stations I found lots of juice, Cranberry, OJ, Apple, Pineapple, Strawberry Kiwi, Tea, Fruit Punch and Lemonade to name some.  If one was out, the next station had several different types.

guest relations were rude - had a strange $300 charge on our account - they told me to come back tomorrow - and was annoyed w me for even asking

on and on and on.... I am sorry you had a problem. I also had a problem and went to GS. I was very nice and patient and after a short while my problem was solved. I find with MSC CS, you get more action by being nice when trying to solve a problem.

Heard on last day they were short 500 crew members - unacceptable!

    won't cruise MSC again !

Sounds like someone who works for MSC 😂.

  5. So sorry this is happening. I hope you can still enjoy it. I hate traveling with groups. We have 2 other couples traveling with us next month and they are all first time cruisers. They basically changed everything we suggested including the ship, cruise length and excursions. I'm going to make the best of it. But, no more group cruises for us.

Look forward to hearing about your experience.   Enjoy!!

Well I'm back. Just had the chance to log back in to CC. I will have to eat my words. I will not be back on MSC if I'm not in YC. Lines everywhere. The best part was being on OC. But, couldn't get a drink or food at the buffet on the island. The MDR wasn't too bad. Just average. But we stood in line over 30 mins to be seated. The bars all over the ship were either understaffed or the staff was super slow. The room was comfortable and our cabin steward was awesome. However,  we did have to ask for washcloths, a bathmat and water from the minibar - which you can't serve yourself. Oh and don't get me started on embarkation. We stood outside for almost 2 hrs. The arrival times mean nothing. Lesson learned. I don't know how MSC can fix it. I'm in YC this fall. If it doesn't live up to my expectations, I'm done with MSC. I know I sound like sour grapes. I don't blame anyone who makes fun of me. 😂

  7. I'm cruising on the Meraviglia this coming weekend. My husband and I have only cruised YC with MSC and chose this short weekend cruise in regular class because we have an RCL booked in February and wanted a quick getaway. Also, we wanted to see what it's like outside of YC. I love cruising so, I'm going to have fun no matter what. But, these reviews are something else. Did people research the cruise line before embarkation? Are some just complaining to complain? I'm optimistic about this coming weekend, especially since we have not cruised since 2019. Sometimes, (or always) you get what you pay for. It seems like people want more for less. Maybe spend a little more money or stick with Carnival 🤷.

  8. My husband and I were on the same cruise and agree with ALL of Morgsmoms comments thus far. Inconsistent and just bad service offered by sullen, overworked employees does not make for a relaxing cruise experience. This was our 3rd MSC cruise, so not newbies - but also our last.

Hopefully you're idea of going all out will mean you booked the Yacht Club, otherwise Morgsmoms review is a cautionary tale.

I really meant we don't mind paying $7.50 for coffee. Or paying for specialty restaurants, movies, arcades and excursions. We usually try them all.

BUT , I did upgrade to YC yesterday. I don't want to take any chances.

I never understood why people complain about spending money on a cruise. It's still the best deal for a vacation.

  9. I wonder if the negative posters actually work for MSC...j/k

Their reviews made me go back and change my booking to the Yacht Club.

There are still too many bad reviews and I have never sailed MSC.

I want to enjoy my vacation. Also,

When you take into account what you save on drinks and the onboard credits, it just made more sense for me to pay a little more and get better service, amenities and food (apparently).
