  1. Thanks to everyone for the information, and to Miched for the Bushwacker recipe - sounds yummy!  We have not yet made a decision on a fall 2020 cruise.  We are looking at the Summit to New England or a Princess New England followed by a road trip. Although we usually cruise with Princess I have been intrigued by Celebrity for a while and am trying to find out as much as I can to facilitate the decision.  Both lines have a martini bar so that’s good 😀👍

  2. Regarding the difference in drink prices, should I assume that a bourbon and seven would be covered under the classic package, but a Makers and seven, or Woodford Reserve (basically, if I select a particular liquor) and seven, would cost more and it would be better to have the premium package?  Similarly, are martinis, Moscow mules, pina coladas, etc. covered under the classic package if you don’t request a particular brand of alcohol?

  3. Hello!  What is your experience with the classic versus premium beverage package on Celebrity?  Is the extra cost for the premium package worth it or does the lower(I believe $8 limit) classic package cover most cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks?  We are not big drinkers, but do purchase the premium package on Princess as we enjoy coffee, sparkling water and like to try different cocktails while on vacation (maybe 1-3 a day, rarely 4). The cost to upgrade the package is $840 total, which also includes unlimited WiFi. Would love to hear your thoughts on this question and/or the Celebrity Summit.  Thanks!

  4. Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions - very helpful. We have booked the cruise for this fall and are very excited. Although we have not had this many sea days on a cruise in the past, we are looking forward to them and especially to seeing all of the islands. Have been to Maui and Oahu previously, but that was a looooonnnng time ago.  Anxious to visit there again and to see the other islands. It’s great to share thoughts with other cruisers; definitely part of the pre-cruise fun.

  5. Thanks everyone for your comments, and nf5894 for posting your super video - looks like your family had a great time. This cruise is very tempting. I believe we would be on the Star if we take it the end of this year. We are going on a 12-night Alaska journey in a few months and that will give us an idea about how we like a large number of sea days. I am hesitant to wait until after we return to book a Hawaii trip for fear the cabin location we want won’t be available or the price will go up. All that said, we are looking forward to  hearing everything our fellow cruisers want to share.

  6. Thanks everyone!  You are very kind to take the time to offer your thoughts, insights and suggestions. We are still considering as there are pros on both sides. I like the idea of being able to cruise to Quebec (on Celebrity) without having to fly to there or home from there as the cost of airfare is prohibitive for us. Also like the longer itinerary and am intrigued by trying a smaller ship. That said, we very much like Princess (it is my husbands preference for this trip) and know what to expect on their ships. I would say we are a very good fit for their model with regard to age, expectations of quality and service, and preference for activities and entertainment. Although I have been to New York, my husband has not and I think a day or two there before the cruise would be nice.  BatbinMich mentioned the International Cafe on Princess - we love that place!

Your comments are helpful as we look to book in the next month or so. I have noticed that both lines are filling up their New England cruises at a good pace.

    Thnaks again fellow cruisers.

  7. We are iin our early sixties and nterested in a New England cruise next fall and are considering the Princess Regal or Celebrity Summit. We prefer the Summit’s itinerary and length, but have not been on Celebrity before and other than hearing they are on a par with Princess, we don’t know much about the general atmosphere and quality of a balcony room, service, dining, shows and activities. We know what to expect with Princess Club Class. For those who have been on both, what do you see as the major differences or pros/cons?  If we select the shorter itinerary we ould probably go in a few days early to tour New York. Thanks in advance!

  9. Hello Fellow Cruisers,

We are considering a cruise to Canada/New England next fall and wondering what those of you who have sailed Adventure of the Seas think about it - ship condition, atmosphere, dining, etc. Is there a big difference between a balcony, spacious balcony, and junior suite, particularly in the size of the bathroom?

Although we have taken other cruises on Princess and one on Carnival, this would be our first time on Royal Caribbean. While RC seems to have a reputation as a more 'active' cruise line with a generally younger guest, we are willing to give it a try as long as the amenities and service are similar to Princess. Btw, the Princess schedule for Canada/New England does not work for our time frame or we would likely stay with them.

    Thank you!

  10. Wow, thank you so much for replying to my post. You have all given us things to think about and some ideas we had not considered. When the last cruise ended we felt like we had a super time, and while we knew we had to go home, we also, felt sadness at the end of a fantastic week. I tend to think the extra days would be wonderful and will be doing some research on itineraries this week. Thank you again.

  11. We recently returned from a 7-day Alaska cruise, my third cruise and my husband's first. We both loved the trip and are ready to go back. One of the cruises we are considering is a 12-day to Alaska out of Los Angeles and the second is the same 7-day to Alaska we did this year. We are not sure about the jump from 7 to 12 days and are wondering what any of you who have done this think about the extra time. Did you love it as much as a shorter cruise, or were you longing for home on day 9? Would appreciate hearing your thoughts and experiences. Thanks!
