I don’t know how the OP didn’t realize what fully vaccinated meant since it’s been all over the news, Royals site, etc., but I have to agree that the pediatrician should have mentioned the second shot. I would also have a long talk with the dr.

OP, hope you get this straightened out and everything goes smoothly.

You have no idea what I did so your comment is a joke.  No need to pat myself on the back for something that is something I should be doing.  I don’t pat myself on the back for changing diapers,

reading to my kids every night, or protecting them from any major risks.  I just do it because it is normal parenting.  It is also normal parenting to know and understand the medical treatment you voluntarily subject your child to.  I didn’t need anyone at my university to present to me.   As a data scientist I did it myself.

And for the record, I did suggest people either study up or talk to their doctor.

But respectfully, you have no idea what you are taking about if you think more than a tiny percentage of practicing physicians have any ability to give you expert opinions on the vaccine results.  They have zero training in statistical methodology.  They are practitioners,

not scientists.  They are just parroting cliff notes they hear.  Very few of them do research or could come close to explaining methodology or scientific design.  They understand physiology really well and how to practice medicine, but they are not trained to do research and few could come close to being a qualified reviewer for one of these studies.  Heck, our pediatricians seemingly can’t do or recommend anything without plugging in the info in their IPad and getting a recommendation (and all of them from great medical schools).  They are almost robotic practitioners at this point with zero knowledge of the the scientific process we call research.  So frankly, I wouldn’t trust their views on new research that hasn’t been replicated or validated.  Older vaccines don’t have this issue.

For myself, I’d much prefer to see the overall methodology including sample designs, alpha and power considerations, timeframes, statistic used for testing, etc. including any limitations.  I understand these far better than any MD I’ve ever met and the topic is irrelevant when you understand methodology.  Methodology is methodology regardless of the variables being studied.

We now have both children negative with a PCR.  The window has closed to schedule for the dock side test.  Hopefully we will be able to board without issue.  Thanks for all the support!

When hubby and I got our first dose, they immediately scheduled our second before we left the office.  The same with my son, daughter and 2 grandchildren.  Did they not do that for your child?  Have you had 2 shots?  Not understanding why you’d think your child only needed one shot to be fully vaxxed  even without the cruise issue?

No they did not and they have been to their pediatrician multiple times! 😞.  This is my fault.

  3. The reason I called is there was a discrepancy in the App on my phone and the App on my iPad.  My IPad said cleared and my phone said Not cleared.  When I tried to put their vaccine information in the app on my phone, it said “We’re frustrated, too.  Thanks for your patience while we work through this issue”. That is what prompted me to call.

Hopefully it will all work out!  I’m scrambling to get in compliance now.

  4. I’m traveling with my children 10 & 11 and they have had their Covid vaccine (Pfizer in 11/21) We are leaving on June 25 on the Allure of the Seas.  I checked last week and they were cleared to board (awaiting the Rapid test with 48 hours).  Today I looked at the RCCL App and they were not clear (what changed?) HEADS UP!!!  The CDC changed the guidelines on June 19th that a fully vaccinated child requires 2 shots.  I called RCCL and they said children require a PCR test 3 days prior to sailing now, since they are no longer considered fully vaccinated!!! We sail on Saturday, it’s Wednesday night at 9….the best I can do is get a PCR tomorrow.  I’m struggling with this and want to share the information because lots of people are sailing with children.  I did not receive an email or call about this.  😞

In theory, they could have been vaccinated on the day the change was made (6/19) and still not been ok by 6/25 to travel by the new standard.

This is crazy, how many children/families will be denied at boarding.

  5. I have stayed in this cabin and it is wonderful for watching the Aquashow and if you spend a lot of time on your balcony.  It is a haul to get to the elevators so you walk off your calories.  I will caution you that it is loud, you will know anytime their is a show going on.  It didn’t bother us, but wanted to make you aware.  I love aft cabins but prefer the traditional afts vs. this type cabin.   We are going on the Allure in a few weeks in opted for mid-ship this time.

  6. No worries....I will be there in time for the cruise!

The communication from RCCL is VERY poor and inconsistent.

I had the representative go to the website and verify that it says DEPARTS but she reached out to her supervisor and they said it was a mistake and it BOARDS at 7 PM. Either way I will be at portside by 4.

It could make for a miserable day for people who arrive at the port at 10 or 11 and the boarding is delayed until 7 PM....not the way to start a cruise BUT we will all be happy in a few days.

    JMHappy....one way or the other!!!

  7. I noticed that RCCL posted a delay for my cruise on the Oasis tomorrow. Very understandable with the challenges on the the east coast of FL. I did not receive any notification from RCCL although they have my emails, home phone numbers and cell phones. I called to find out with a 7 PM "departure time" what time can we expect to board? I was told it was not STARTING the boarding process until 7 PM. Called back a second time for verification and they told me the same thing boarding starts at 7 PM. I understand there is a change, but clear communication would be very helpful.

I don't need to tell veteran cruisers that there is a BIG difference between boarding time and departure time.

I've ask for them to provide me the change in writing......I'm still waiting....

When I asked to be notified of any other changes they said, just call because it clearly isn't working!

    I'm annoyed....normally JMHappy 😏

  8. The RCCL agent told me we can't board the ship until 7 PM. It clearly says on website "departs" at 7 PM. I hung up and called back again....they said we can't BOARD until 7 PM! I asked for it in writing because I'm not getting emails or text messages with updates.

Has anyone else heard anything different.

  9. I love the Eastern best....I like more sea days and both St. Thomas and St Marteen are nice places to visit. We have done both Eastern and Western many times. If the beach is the only thing you want to do, either is excellent. If you want to do other stuff...particularly shop for jewelry, Eastern is the way to go!

  10. From what I have been told by RCCL...if you place a hold and need to add a NC, the hold is cancelled and the booking is recreated in the same cabin. That is the way it is normally handled. The representative told me it was not a normal policy to adjust the current hold.

The lesson is that I did not realize it would change the 48 hour price guarantee. Instead of 48 hours from the true decision to book it was really only 24.

I was told they would not honor the faxing because I had already passed the 48 hours.

In hindsight. I should have let the hold expire...recreated the booking with a RCCL, have all the credits applied THEN it would have been 48 hours from the time I paid in full (45 days exactly!) and I would have received the price drop.

EVERYONE JUST BEWARE AND LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.

Sometimes things just don't work out the way we would like but it's okay. ;)

  11. I wanted to share my experience. I placed a hold on a cabin for Oasis. I am a Diamond Level and I had a "Next Cruise Certificate" I needed to be added to the reservation. I called the next night to have the additional things added. At that time I paid the booking in full and was told there was a 48 hour guarantee. Two days later I contacted RCCL because there was a $200 decrease in the fare. They said it was based on when the HOLD was placed. I asked if they could provide the difference in an OBC....NO! They were willing to upgrade my cabin to another Oceanview Balcony but I already have a great cabin so that was not a benefit. I asked as a goodwill jesture if they would give us a speciality dining certificate....NO! I went all the way to dispute resolutions.

I just want everyone to know...the clock starts ticking when you place the HOLD.....and that wasn't what I was told. So much mis-information.

I'm disappointed RCCL isn't doing more.

I even have another cruise booked in August for a party of 14....I'm considering cancelling.

    JMHappy isn't so happy today!!!
