My March 29 cruise got cancelled. Of course it was a Casino Royale comp, except for my cash part. Here is part of an email from Casino Royale:

"Unfortunately, at this time, we are not extending, or reactivating, Club Royale offers on cancelled bookings."

Well that kind of stinks. So I just lost a cruise sailing that I played in the casino to get. I didn't cancel it. YOU cancelled it.

    FWIW

You'll get more I wouldn't sweat it.  They just can't right now because they are shutdown for 30 days AT LEAST.

That is such crap because if that bet was played and won, and I double up my bet I would be earning more points on the higher bet. I would not recommend this promo to anyone if they are capped at only banking 400 points total.

I'm not sure what you mean they play as cash as far as I could tell.  I usually earn around 10K points a cruise and it turned out around that for me this trip even playing the 2200 promo.

I am thinking of purchasing the $2000 slot package for upcoming HOS. If I put $200 of that into a slot machine and play through the $200 but during that it goes up to lets say, $400. That does that turn into real $$ and I can cash that out? So essentially I put in $100 and keep turning it into cash?

Yes - Slot credits work like this:  You transfer $200 from your card to the machine... You spin for 5 dollars, win 10.  If you hit cash out a ticket for $10 will print, and $195 will remain on the machine (You can transfer any amount from your card to the machine, but once transferred only winnings can be 'cashed out'.)

I will find out on Symphony 1/5.  Pulled the trigger on 2k and UTH is the table for me.  This is a 7 night cruise with 3 sea days (AKA casino days).  Cycling through 2.2K in promotional chips will probably be done by the end of the first sea day at a $10 UTH table.

    George

I just got off the Navigator - promo chips remain promo chips when bet is won (not replaced) - all table games can be used.  Playing 25+25 a hand I burned through all 2,200 in the first night.

Once RC Casino Royale realizes there is a 7% increased advantage to the player, this promo will be dead and buried.

That is if this calculation bears any validity, and to clarify I am not doubting it either.

wouldnt surprise me that they didn’t really do the math on it (RC that is).

I have no hands on experience of this particular promo, However I totally understand it.

Having lived in Casino Royale for the past 18 years and used promo coupons over the years on the ships, these promotions come and go

if there was no limit ($2k) I would certainly take advantage of it with a cherry on top

With the Promo chips in play after a win, real chips go in wife’s pocket.

And as already quoted by the ones who understand it, playing through the promo chips on an average 4-5hr session a night at a $25/$50 table would be a breeze.

    Happy wife happy life.

    Happy Days!

Yep!  Don't forget the credit card rewards you'll get for the purchase too.  (2% cashback for me.)

I think thats where the confusion is coming from. RCI uses the wording "played through" in their T&C but then their definition of "played through" is not congruent with what the rest of the world defines as "played through". And even worse is that they define "played through" differently on the slots vs the table games. Its confusing and surely some people will felt taken advantage of because of this

Its basically the same.. On slots the 'coin in' is consumed and you either win or lose.  The difference is on table games if you win you keep the promo chip.  So table game is better, not worse than slot promo.

I understand you're going to play at least $2000, I've done that everytime. But what you're doing is giving the $2000 now. So for you to even be up, you would have to win BACK your initial $2000 first, then another $200 of the bonus.

If you go in and ONLY win $1500, you're still in the hole for $500. If you didn't buy into this scheme, that $1500 would be entirely yours. If someone in their promotions department has convinced people this is a deal, that person should get a raise or a cut of the sales.

NOBODY wins 100% of the time in a casino.  If you buy in for $1000 most people (at least I do) you "play" for around $5000 - you win and you lose. Even BlackJack is basically 50/50 and you'll get in 50-100 hands an hour based on the number of players. So if you come out ahead you still "lost" maybe half those bets... so maybe $100 in promo chips exchanged PER HOUR. Playing $5 a hand.  Its wishful thinking you'll end even day 1 or 2 with promo chips left.  (Yes you can be lucky and be up, but you aren't winning every promo bet.)

Even so, the Free Play chips can't be redeemed for cash. Let's say you have one helluva week on the tables and have $350 of your theoretical $525 purchased Free Play chips, plus $500 in real chips from winning hands left on the last night. The Free Play chips are absolutely worthless to you, yet you have $350 in real money invested in them.  You actually have $500 left from a $500 investment, a break even,  instead of having $850, a $350 profit, which should be your true bankroll. The only thing you can do is bet them until they are totally lost. Poor money management in my eyes.

Ah that's a point I haven't considered yet.  Thank You!  The idea of me going on a 3-7 day heater where I would win that much in relation to my stake is just something I would never consider - lol.

The way I'm reading this is that you are purchasing ALL Free Play chips. If that is the case, and it is a typical casino Lucky Buck promotion, it isn't worth a dime. The way most Free Play / Lucky Buck promotions work is like this. You bet your Free Play chip. If you win the hand, they give you a live chip, and take your Free Play chip. You lose the hand, they take the chip. This, my friends, is a lose-lose for the player, and this is why.

Let's say I buy the $500.00 package, and get my $525 in Free Play chips. I bet $25 per hand, and win all 21 hands ($525 divided by $25=21) remembering to replace the "won" live chip with a new Free Play chip every hand. At the end of 21 "winning" hands I have $525 sitting in front of me. Just what I started out with!

Let's say I buy in at the table for $525 in LIVE action and win the same 21 hands in a row, at $25 per hand. At the end of the 21 hands I have $1050 sitting in front of me. TWICE the amount for the same work!!!

Ummmm, you don't have to be a Rocket Scientist or a Mathematician to figure this one out.

FreePlay Bonus Offer (“Offer”) applies to purchases made via Cruise Planner no less than three days prior to cruise departure. Offer provides bonus FreePlay in addition to the value of FreePlay purchased, and a scratch-off card. Amount of bonus FreePlay and value of scratch-off card varies by FreePlay value purchased: a $25 FreePlay bonus for purchase of $500 for a total of $525 in FreePlay, with a $5 scratch off card; a $75 FreePlay bonus for purchase of $1,000 for a total of $1075 in FreePlay, with a $10 scratch off card; and a $200 FreePlay bonus for purchase of $2,000 for a total of $2,200 in FreePlay, with a $20 scratch off card. FreePlay issued as promotional chips. Price shown at time of purchase reflects discount and is in USD.

I agree but other posters have said the promo play chips are not lost on a win.  Give it a week or two and we'll know for certain.  (They are going on recent cruises.)

We just got off of Allure yesterday (Great cruise!) but one of the people in our group was unable to find her bag when she got off of the ship at the new terminal.  She filed a missing bag report and the person that she talked to said that they would contact her, but so far, no word.  She was told that they had 4 lost bags on the previous cruise and all of them were found.  Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if you knew what her chances of getting it back are.  If she does not get it back, does RCCL compensate her in any way?  Thanks for your replies!

I lost my ID on a cruise in September - I was contacted by RC at the end of October (about 3-4 weeks) and they shipped it to me after I paid for shipping.

As I said.  I have used the promo chips (albeit acquired as free play from points earned) in Royal's casinos in the last month.  They are wagered, and stay on the betting spot when you win just like cash chips do.  They work like regular cash chips in every other regard except that you cannot exchange them for cash.

Keep wagering them until you lose.

    Okay that works.  Thanks.

  12. The biggest question that is NOT in the fine print is how promo chips work.  If you win your wager and you still lose your promo chip, then this deal is NOT worth it because if you win you break even until you've 'played through' all your chips.  I would NEVER play a game where if you lose you lose, and you win you tie.  Also, that is how promo chips have worked in every casino I've been in, but I've never had the option of purchasing them.

  13. I noticed now that most cruiselines use the electronic bingo where the cruise staff presses a button and the computer generates the numbers. I remember when they used the ping pong balls and the machine spit out the balls. They even had someone come up to the stage to verify that all the bingo balls were there. I also remember on the last day on the cruise EVERYONE played because the Jackpot MUST go and people would win thousands of dollars. Now it seems like you have to get full card Bingo within a certain amount of balls called. Usually 45 or less. In the old fashion way, yes this is possible because it is totally random and a computer is not "calling" the balls. On my recent cruise, I noticed that a lot of the Bs Is Ns and Os were called but very few Gs were called. When it came up to the 45th ball, there were only 4Gs called which meant no Jackpot Bingo was possible. And you guessed it, yes the 46th ball it was a G and the next 5 balls after.

To me I hate how Bingos are fixed this way. I know people play for the fun of it and people do win $$ but I just feel that it is wrong to advertise and say you will give away thousands of dollars when they know no one will ever win the Jackpot. Its also sad to see them push and upsell even more and sell last minute Jackpot cards to upsell and make people think they can win.

I wonder if the people nowadays playing are first time cruisers who get suckered into this scam. My advice--better luck of winning in the casino at the table betting on red or black on roulette.lol

Nope, casino is probably rigged.. It's international waters after all, no agency to verify gaming isn't fixed.
