  1. This is my first cruise on Carnival, will be sailing on the Celebration on the May 7th voyage and really looking forward to it.

Just wanted to know from the more experienced Carnival cruisers if there is anything I need to know about Carnival Cruise Line or specifically the Celebration.

    Any tips, suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you!

  2. Favorite thing to do on the ship?

    Favorite food you ate?

Any can't miss activities on the ship?

    Biggest surprise (good or bad)

Fav thing to do: hang out and eat pizza and get the dulce de leche cheesecake from Cafe Promenade and people watch at the Royal Promenade

Fav food: tough to choose but the food at Sabor was one of my favorites

Can't miss activity: watching Fine Line and 1887. Also Quest.

Biggest Surprise: hearing stories of guests complaining about how crowded the ship was but I was surprised to never have felt that it was too crowded anywhere except at the elevators when returning from a show or returning back from a port.

  3. Hi Ipanjabi,

Glad to here your trip was great! I'm new to this site and have some questions about the lighting in the cabin on Harmony, and hoping you can help. Did the cabin have the "above curtain" lighting strip? and where is this switch located? Wondering because I like a bit of mood lighting and I have seen some pics showing it but mostly pics with without. Thanks in advance!

I don't believe it had the light strip but there are two nice lights on each side of the bed which are smaller reading lights that worked well for us at night.

  4. I'm booked for Oct. 14 on HOTS. Is the Grotto Cave/Dunns River tour something I could do with a 4 year old?

You probably can, we had a young girl in our group around that age who did the tours and didn't seem to have a problem, but since she is younger and much smaller than adult climbers, you might have to assist her a lot during the Dunns climb up. The tour guide helped our group a lot when necessary. The caves was no issue though.

  5. Thank you for the information. Glad to hear you had a great time. Looking forward to our trip September 30th doing the same itinerary. We I actually did that itinerary last year on oasis. We didn't leave the port in Falmouth. There is a margaritaville there with a pool and swim up bar. We stayed there and did a little shopping in port. Cozumel we did an all inclusive. Was ok. Not sure what we are doing this time. Surprised to hear the love and marriage game is at 5:00. Usually they do it around 10:30 because of some of the content.

I think you are really going to have a wonderful cruise! I was also surprised at the time with Love & Marriage also. Maybe it was done earlier due to it being a sea day? Not sure.

  6. We will be Sailing that Itinerary Sept 16th. Did you venture out in Falmouth, i.e. an excursion, if so which, and how was it? How is the Shopping area at the Pier in Falmouth? We have no Plans yet for Jamaica, a tad "nervous", so we may just stay at the Pier. Did you eat any Local Fare in Cozumel, any recommendations? And did you do any excursions in Cozumel, same question, which and how was it (if applicable)?

While at Labadee, which Beach were you on? How was it? We've been to Nellie's, but not at Columbus Cove which many on CC recommend. Did you do a Single Ride of Dragon Coaster? Was the walk to the Coaster Strenuous?

    Thanks

In Falmouth, we were told by many not to venture out on our own, so we stuck to a RCCL excursion. We did the Grotto Caves & Dunns River Falls, highly recommend!! For the caves, I didn't expect much but, they were better than I expected. We had a guided tour which lasted about 45 minutes I believe. Dunns Falls was fantastic beyond words. It was so much fun hiking up the falls, we had a group of about 20 of us who did the hike with a guide, and a camera man who recorded our whole trek up the falls. And then you can buy the DVD for $40. Dunns was very crowded but, it was something I would definitely do again. After the tour, we headed back the port, and shopped around a little. The port is a closed port, so, its safe. There aren't too many shops so its nicer, and since it is a newer port, its very neat and clean.

In Cozumel, we didn't do any excursions, we just went to the main street and walked around and shopped a little. We didn't eat any local food in Mexico, we ate at Hooters ;p as we had Mexican food the night before going to Cozumel on the ship at Sabor.

At Labadee, we were at the beach where you can watch the zip liners swinging by. We didn't stay for too long, as my husband did the zipline so I followed him around to the practice run, and then I waited for him trying to record him on camera. After that, we headed to the tram which took us to the other end of Labadee, where the coaster was. There was no strenuous trek to the coaster (thank goodness for that!). It starts out on pretty flat ground, and you actually glide uphill once on the coaster, and you can control the speed of it. The view was spectacular! I did the all day pass, since it was on sale and almost the same price as the single ride.

  7. How was embarkation/disembarkation? DH and I will be going on Harmony out of FLL in May 2018 and we've never been to that port or airport, so I'm just curious about the logistics. It looks like the airport and cruise port are pretty close to each other. Last year we flew into Orlando the day before the cruise (out of Port Canaveral), is it doable to fly in the morning of the cruise, or do you think it's better to fly in a day before again?

Embark took about 30 minutes at the most. But keep in mind that we went to the port at a high traffic hour, around noon. Even though it was a while, it went pretty smoothly and the lines moved quick. Disembark also took about 30-40 minutes, and moved quick as well but again, there were some long lines at US immigration. Yes, FLL cruise terminal and FLL Airport are about 10 minutes away from each other, so pretty near by. It is definitely doable to fly in the morning of your cruise, but, I would recommend a very early flight getting into FLL. If you are like me, I would still choose to fly in a day before (just in case of flight delays or cancellations).

  8. How wonderful. Great to hear you had such an amazing time. What cabin did you stay in? I sail with her this weekend so look forward to having the same amazing experience as you. Recommendations for speciality restaurants,? I have tried some before but quality/service seems to vary by ship. Anything that really stands out for you that is a "must do"? Thanks you.

If you are like me, as soon as I get back I start thinking and planning my next trip if I can! Lol

I stayed in a Central Park view cabin #10231, loved it. It was my first time in an Oasis class ship, and of course my first time staying in a CP cabin. Other than the fact that you always had to shut your drapes closed when changing clothes etc, it was perfectly fine. I loved waking up to the sunlight. Specialty restaurants, we only did a few as with religious restrictions, we don't eat beef/steak etc. We ate at Sabor (highly recommend! - food was great and service was great), Izumi Hibachi (it was good, not great, but it was especially fun to watch the chef cook in front of you), and we also visited Johnny Rockets (as part of CP balconies, you get a free lunch here or at Jamie's Italian), I had a veggie burger and husband had a chicken burger, both were great. The service here was fabulous, Mona was our waitress.

Must do's - any activity that interests you. We played mini golf, table tennis, husband did zipline, the Abyss slide, we waded in the pools and hot tubs as well. I highly recommend watching 1887 Ice show, The Fine Line, and Grease, I missed out on Columbus The Musical though. Go to the deck where Solarium is and walk out to the glass platform, its beautiful while sailing out there. We also loved people watching in the nights, when we were tired of walking around this ginormous ship. We often visited the casino as well for some small slot play. And my favorite spot was always sitting on the Royal Promenade deck, and eating at Cafe Promenade or Sorrento's. I hope you have fun!

  9. Glad you had a good time. We will be on Harmony Sept 23, going to san juan, labadee, and st. thomas.

Did you go to these ports and what excursions did you do (if you went to these)

What days were formal nights and what nights were the Quest, Love and Marriage Game?

I went to Labadee, Falmouth Jamaica and Cozumel Mexico. In Labadee my husband did the Dragons Breath flight line - zip line which he said was great (he never had zip lined before) and I did the Dragons Coaster which was fun!

Formal nights were night 2 which was at sea day and night 5 which was also at sea day.

Quest was on night 6 which was Cozumel night and took place at 11:30 pm. Love and Marriage game show was on night 7 at sea at 5:00 pm.

  11. I usually don't gamble much but I'm curious. I've heard in some casinos at blackjack you are allowed to use the credit card sized table with the blackjack hints on what to play with each hand. Does anyone know if cruise ships allows this? Harmony of the seas in particular? Any insight on this will be helpful. Thank you.

  12. Hello cruisers!

So I live in Nassau, Bahamas, and Allure was just here on Monday August 7. The inside news is that there is an engine down right now, so the ship will be leaving its visiting ports an hour early to make up the time getting to the next port. They left Nassau an hour early on Monday, and their next port, St.Thomas they said will be cut down an hour as well. Not sure if that will also apply to the St.Kitts visit but apparently it will continue like this till next year when they go to dry dock and solve the engine issue.

    Hope this helps.
