  1. Were you booked on inaugural cruise?

If not then those problems get resolved fast. I bad things happened on Carnival in Europe. I believe it was Sunshine (when they changed it from Destiny). My friends said that works were going on when they boarded ... many venues were closed etc.

We have a rule never to book first cruises.

One year before, I had inaugural cruise with Majestic Princess and MSC Meraviglia

  2. I noticed on another thread that not even tap water was free, nor juice. I am wondering if it depends on the actual ship. We are going on fantasia in September around the med for 10 nights.

Tap water, juices, coffee and tea are free 24h only at the buffet

  3. We cancelled our Seaside cruise. Just too many question marks for us especially after reading reviews of Meraviglia and all of the issues. No balcony furniture. If I am paying for a balcony I expect furniture. People being relegated to the buffet for dinner because there is not enough seating in the MDR. This was a huge NO from my mom. I can't even believe they would do this to people who paid for their vacation expecting the MDR to be included. I don't care if it's the same menu, it is not the same ambiance or experience. Maybe Europeans will just suck it up and take it but they better get their act together if they want the US money.

I was onboard and I can say that it's the first cruise of the ship and problems are inevitable. I agree there was many issues, but no one that can't fixed with the time. The dining at the buffet is not a huge problem for me, because the food and the service is the same as you are in the mdr. Also I was in YC and never suffered any issues during the cruise.

  4. My experience on MSC Divina is that they are gorgeous ships, but in a more refined but still flashy way. As compared to Carnival? Dining will be much the same, but you will have free ice water at meals, and in the buffet. Most announcements will be in English only, there will be a larger variety of entertainment, all aimed in English at the American/North American passenger. Service will be similar to Princess. Unless you book a cruise that is longer than a week, you will have a good mix of passenger ages. EM

How is the quality of the food?

  5. Have not cruised with MSC. But you mentioned Costa. I tried Costa after multiple Carnival cruises. I thought I would love the food because it's an Italian line. Nope. Carnival's was much better IMO. Also, the beds on the Costa cruise I took were awful. I felt the staff was far less engaged and friendly. Maybe it was a one-off, but feel no need to do that again.

I agree that the quality of the food on Costa is not the best.

  6. On MSC Pizza is not really good, it's served in the buffet. In Costa there's the Pummidoro pizzeria but I'm not into paying for a pizza when I can eat better in the restaurant. I'm more interested in the quality of service and what is included in the price. I had a cruise onboard the Majestic Princess and I loved the style of the service, different from the European style.

  7. I recently priced up a 22 night cruise for Christmas 2018 on MSC I got quoted $2400 for an inside cabin for me and my wife on the US website. When I went to book was told via popup that I must use the Irish website as i live there. Fair enough same cabin for same cruise (no airfares) was quoted at €4,500 almost €2,500 more when factoring in exchanges rates

Rang MSC and was told pricing was correct and that different markets have different pricing structures. Anybody else ever come across this situation. I'd live with a small price difference but not that much. Was the same high price also for the UK Site.

do they really think customers do not do their homework and will just allow themselves to be ripped off ?

There are many differences in prices between different countries. Also different offers and cruise that sells only in a specific country. I'm in Italy and sometimes I buy in Germany because they have cheaper prices especially for cruises in Northern Europe

  8. MDRs = Waves, Panorama, L 'Olivo d'oro, L 'Oliva doree,

Question...are you assigned an MDR for your seating? Can you switch around if you like?

You can ask the maitre to change your turn, but only with fantastica experience at least. At the moment they use also the buffet for the restaurant.

  9. Anyone been on msc @ Christmas? Do they have any special events that would appeal to kids? Is there Santa?

I was on Costa at Christmas and they made many events, santa was there!!! I think that on MSC will be the same.

  10. I have ................. I think I'll give Oasis a miss, so!

I thought so, too, 'til I sailed on Magnifica last year. It was one of the best cruises we've had.

Magnifica was my first cruise 2 years ago, after that I had cruises on board 9 different MSC cruise ships, and my preference for a future cruise will be Preziosa, Splendida, Fantasia and Magnifica.

  11. Oasis looks like cheap Vegas hotel to me. Not appealing at all . My fav. ships are Poesia class

Never been in Las Vegas [emoji22], my favourite are Fantasia class, Preziosa if I have to choose one.

  12. Nice videos .Beautiful ship but I don't know if I want to sail those huge ships. Take away the meaning of CRUISING and I am not sure if I can hear the waves from all this glitter and noise. :( I guess this is our future to cruise on those monsters.... mid size ships no one builds any more :(

Mass market cruise lines are getting into this race, to have the biggest ship in the world, but this not means the better ship. Meraviglia have a high passenger/ton ratio, this is the real problem for me. Oasis class are better designed.

  13. I totally agree with all your observations regarding the ship. I thought all the available open deck areas looked totally cluttered with sunbeds all over the place. And the lounges are a bit of a let-down - especially the Meraviglia lounge, which was very badly designed, considering it's the main entertainment lounge with an absolutely fantastic band playing there every night.

Had it not been for the fact that we were in the Yacht Club, I don't think I would have enjoyed our time onboard. We don't always sail YC as we usually enjoy a Fantastica balcony cabin with a premium package just as much, but if I were to book this ship again (or Bellissimo in the future) it would only be YC!

Yes it's the same for me, i enjoyed the cruise only because i was in YC. I hope they can do some adjustments with the sister MSC Bellissima.

  14. Hi, here some of my videos taken on board the MSC Meraviglia.

The ship for me is really nice and modern, but it's not so "Meraviglia" as i thought.

I booked a YC Deluxe Suite, the room is great with Nespresso machine and a lot space available and a nice bathroom. Only the balcon for me is a bit small.

The service in the YC was not outstanding but acceptable. The restaurant really good, with a nice view and a very good service. The sundeck is big and with a lot of space for all, never crowded, but the glass cover that make some shadow to the deck also don't let the wind pass, good when sailing but terrible when the ship is docked.

The Galleria Meraviglia is really cool, with the big display on the roof, but it takes much useful space from other services.

I think that the space allocated to the public services like bar, lounges is less than the Fantasia class.

I loved the Acqupark with the tibetan bridge, but not enjoyed much the pool deck that is always really crowded.

I will like to know your opinion about the ship.
