  1. It is not bad at all. I've been on the Shadow November 2017 for 2 weeks and February/March 2018 for three weeks. The ship is in good condition. Pool was perfectly fine and working, all the machines in the gym were working, crew was amazing, food was excellent. Of course there might be a few spots here and there where you can see it is not a brand new ship but I would book it right away again.

And I spoke to several people on the cruise and they shared my opinion. So unless you are expecting a brand new ship in my opinion there shouldn't be a problem. The colours of the interior, some people are complaining about...well that is a matter of taste. Some like it some won't.

  2. Will you be posting a review of your cruise (and any of the tours)? Would love to hear your thoughts - we're doing the same cruise (in reverse) a little later than you, so could help chose or reject current plans booked to date.

I will try to write a review or maybe even post during the cruise. I will be on board for two cruises going from Singapore to Hongkong and then back to Singapore

  3. Which cruise are you going on? I will be joining the Shadow February 22 in Singapore.

I did take come free tours last year while cruising on the Shadow. Yes the free tours are probably no hiking tours or so but for example we did a tour of the temples in Bangkok and it was for sure not just a bus tour. We did quite a lot of walking within the temples. But if you want adventure and activity the free tours might not be the ones you are looking for.

  4. I can't agree with the comment that the Silversea ships are pretty dead at night. I've been on several cruises where we closed the bars with many people at 4 in the morning. Wouldn't call that dead. On my last cruise on the Shadow in Asia last year we had a group of colombians on board and they loved to dance the night away. We had lots of fun.

I am in my 40s and I was not the youngest last time.

  5. I am 43 and will travel solo on the Silver Shadow in November. It will not be the first time for me on Silversea but the first time solo. But I know from previous cruises, where I've met solo travellers that it is normally easy to get to know people. If you want to I can tell you more how it was this time after returning from the Shadow in November.

I remember on my last cruise (I was 36 by then) I travelled with my mom. She was not feeling well and spent a lot of time in the suite. So I was going to dinner or the bar quite often on my own but I never stayed alone for long. So I am sure, since you say you are a social person it will be the same for you.

  6. I will be the first time alone on a Silversea Cruise this November - I used to cruise with my mom before but always Silversea. I can understand your hesitation but you can be sure there won't be a problem. You don't need to dress up if you don't want to. And by the way - if you need a good travel agent in Germany (not sure where you are located though) mine has been taking care of our Silversea Cruises for more then 10 years and knows what to do and to think about. Let me know if you still need one.
