The DSC does not REPLACE tipping. Many here love to say it does however even according to NCLs own FAQ pages there are distinct entities. There is no requirement to tip at all and no suggested amounts. It boils down to giving tips to the person you want, at the time you want, in the amount you want. If someone gives you service that you personally feel is worthy of a tip by whatever means you measure that, then tip them. The only caveat I would add is that "not tipping because the DSC covers it" is weak at best. Akin to saying one will not tip a bar keep in a hotel at a Disney resort because the resort fees "cover it".

Leaving on the Gem this weekend. So far I've paid $199.50 "service charge" with the UBP and $195.00 for pre-paid service charges. Total of $394.50. If this is not prepaid gratuities, then what is it for?

A short taxi ride to Tobacco Bay Beach. Not as crowded as Horseshoe and extreamly beautiful. You can rent snorkels, tubes and chairs. A food stand is also available.

I believe you choose a check in time, not a boarding time.

First and MOST IMPORTANT, CONGRATULATIONS on both of your amazing anniversaries!! I'm celebrating my 26th anniversary next week! And best, 1 year of sobriety is AWESOME!!! So proud of you! I'll raise my glass of Diet Coke and celebrate with you!

This will be my first time going to a Bill W. meeting. I usually attend local meetings near my home. With so much a availability of alcohol on a cruise, as an alcoholic, it can be very intimidating and tempting. Having meetings onboard is a wonderful thing and it gives me a sense of calm just knowing that they will be available. On our cruise we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary on August 20th and my 1 year of sobriety on August 22nd. I look forward to celebrating with a huge Pina Coloda... virgin of course.
