  1. As I have done in the past a few times, I paid off almost the entire cost of my upcoming Celebrity cruise using the AARP Gift Cards.

Is there any benefit to purchasing any for the actual trip?  Can I use them to pay off charges to my final bill?

  2. The Summit is near and dear to our hearts as well.  Until this year, this was the ship in our home port of Bayonne.  Was great to drive just an hour without worrying about airfare.  We enjoy all of the different size classes of ships, but the small size of this ship made it seem more relaxed and friendly.  I never looked for rust so never saw it and never had a slow shower drain.  The crew members have always been fantastic.  Want the ship to return to Bayonne so we can continue each year in sailing to Bermuda on her.

I think Carnival is taking out their poker tables. On the Breeze last October the table was removed. There usually was not much action due to the high rake that did not have a cap. It was actually a terrible game for the players (not that any cruise ship game has good odds compared to a land based casino.)

Agreed!  I love poker and always look forward to playing on a cruise.  The 25% rake without a cap though is absolutely insane.

  4. Hi all...

Going on our 4th cruise to Bermuda in about a week and we want to stray from the typical Horseshoe Bay and Turtle Bay beach stops.  Was thinking of Warwick Bay and Jobson's Cove or Blue Hole Park, but must admit that I find using another country's public transportation system to be very intimidating.  Any suggestions for a one day pass?  What beach would you go to and what route would you take?

  5. I believe that all areas of travel these days find ways to charge you extra fees. Whether it be resort fees at a hotel, parking fees, luggage fees on airlines, even hidden menu fees... that I have learned not to get too upset about charges such as this.  I love Bermuda as it is one of my favorite vacation destinations and this extra fee won't deter me from having a fun time.  I certainly would not cancel a trip over such a charge!

  6. My kids are all grown up but I am unsure if I could leave them when they were younger on the ship while I got off at the port.  What happens if some unforeseen circumstance causes you to miss getting back on the ship?  Heaven forbid a hospital emergency and you don't return...what happens to the little ones?  Too upsetting and scary to think about it.  If I can't take the kids with me, I wouldn't go ashore anyway.

  7. Coming in on a cruise in less than a week and I am rushing to make plans.

We are coming to Aruba for one of our stops and we have never been there before.  We plan on going to Palm Beach and we will need to rent two chairs and an umbrella.  I saw some information about going to Moomba Beach Grill but was wondering if there are any other options.  What can we expect to pay for the chairs/umbrella?  I saw prices up to $60 for it all.

  8. Minor irritant!!  Are some of you really so annoyed by this??  I didn't even think that cruising would return this summer so having to wear a simple, plastic bracelet is seriously nothing as long as I can get to do a vacation that I love so much.

Maybe there is an additional benefit to wearing a tracelet.  If someone does contact COVID while on board, maybe not as many would have to be quarantined.  Might limit the reaction process!

We sail on the summit July 10th.  I didn't see the Beach Hop tour!  Can you tell more about it?  I may call and ask.  We don't usually do ship tours either, but making the best of what is available!

I saw it on a different site that Celebrity offers it, but after I made that post above I did check the Celebrity website and it isn't there. Sorry if I gave bad information.

  10. Just saw that the most recent Daily Planner included the Silent Disco.  Didn't think that this would go off any more.  So excited that it is returning and hopeful that it will also be part of our cruise out of St. Maarten for July 17th.  It is one of our favorite activities...just gives us another reason to be excited!!
