  1. There's just something about embarkation day that makes otherwise normal, well-fed people eat like they have been starving for weeks. How else can you explain waiting in like 20 minutes for an average burger?

Have you been to McDonald's for lunch, dinner or late night lately? Guaranteed 15 minute wait for a below average burger, don't think it's out of the ordinary at all for people to wait 20 minutes, the question is should they expect that or should they expect better?

  2. Not sure what threads you're reading, but a majority of people I see who discuss the topic fully acknowledge a reduction in stewards and MDR waiters. Lately, talk of reduction in bartenders and roaming bar waiters has been increasing, too. I don't think I've ever seen anyone flat-out deny that these positions have been reduced.

My point was myself and the poster I was responding to would be comfortable with a 50-100 dollar price increase for more staff, no more cutbacks. I think we're in the minority of people who would be ok with the increase.

  3.

As far as the bars and the main dining room...it does seem like a lack of bartenders/waiters are seriously affecting the guest experience. I, myself, would be willing to pay an extra $50 per person/per cruise to hire back enough people to make a difference.

    Cheers!

I totally agree but I think we are in the minority on these boards. Some believe there hasn't been a staff reduction which is laughable and others want to keep prices depressed indefinitely and continue diluting the experience. I can't think of any good or service that has kept it's nominal prices the same or actually lower over the last 30 years except cruising.

  4. I moved on from the OP, I will ALWAYS be here for bashers. You can decide what you think a post is, I will do the same. I cruise Carnival, love to hear comments both positive and negative from cruisers. Funny that someone bashing carnival brings up cheerleading first. How about you, you have resurrected many threads lately, do you cruise Carnival?

What is a basher though? Anyone who sees something negative and says something?

Yeah I'm platinum I've been on Carnival 7 times in the past year and a half or so. Carnival gives me and some of my friends and family members great casino offers and we always have a great time in general.

  5. On our only cruise as a Gold VFIP where they enforced the early entry cabin rules (probably 2014 or 2015?) we actually gave the person who tried to stop us a $10 bill and he let us go. He was the assistant cabin attendant in the row of cabins next to ours and a really nice guy so not sure if the $10 was even necessary.

Here's the story: My brother explained that my oldest son really needed to use the bathroom (because he's a germaphobe like 90% of my family) and it was either get in the room or he poops his pants and held out the $10. The guy literally almost crumpled on the floor laughing at my brother and let us go in. Those two joked around the rest of the cruise :)

  6. Cruise elsewhere then, we would def not want you to be uncomfortable. Totally disagree. Funny that bashing comes from someone who mentions cheerleaders. I do not doubt that for a minute either.

I thought you said you moved on! Since my other points have been ignored, I'll just mention that it's not bashing or cheerleading if it's objective and true!

  7. Is the waiver possible for cruises not originating in the US but also not originating in Europe? We've been thinking about taking a big family cruise (with all the grandkids not just all the adults) out of Barbados next summer. My sister's twins are September babies and won't be 21 until after the cruise. My brother was telling them stories about the good old days of drinking at 18 and they have it in their heads if we leave from Vancouver or Barbados they can drink!

  8. Is that what I said? Your fairy tale we can discuss. The op talked about an employee on the job doing something totally unethical. I suggested that if one makes disparaging remarks which are detrimental to the cruise lines reputation, then they should follow through. My post as to the logic was deleted so I wont go there again.

Follow through with what though? I assume people from the cruise line read this site, don't you? The OP put them on notice with his post, bous because he didn't cost someone a job.

Regarding the bold/underlined part of your post. I'm not sure what you mean fairy tale but assuming you are talking about my servers smoking rope (when against company policy/law). I wouldn't get them in trouble, would you?

  9. I disagree with this and your next post about someone having a "duty". Example, a server chases you outside and says, why did you stiff me. The manager or owner did not have a clue. I'm sure if the manager saw this happen they would have taken proper measures. You are not on vacation to get someone fired, that's a ridiculous statement. As is someone having a duty to get someone fired, absurd. As a guest in a restaurant there are certain expectations for civil customer service. If you are treated poorly or do not get the food cooked the way you ordered, say something.

So if you saw your server smoking a joint at the beach would you alert the supervisor when you got back on the ship? If you saw employees stoning on the way out of a restaurant on land (where it is not legal and you know the restaurant has a policy against it) do you go back and tell the manager or alternatively call the restaurant?

Jimbo seemed to indicate that he'd probably tattle because it's a bad look for the company. I disagree respectably.

I look at these situations as being similar to the servers asking for tips ON THE LAST NIGHT. It would just be inserting myself into a situation that no longer affects me.

Maybe I think maybe I'm cut from a different cloth than some of you. I just don't snitch and get people fired for stuff that doesn't seriously affect ME or my FAMILY.

  10. It is easy to talk bad things, if it disparages the cruise line (which this does) then step totally up to the plate. An employee that said those words needs to be removed. Employees are their best assets, one bad one can ruin an entire ships reputation.

Why does someone have a duty to the cruise line to get someone fired?.

  11. "I am not at all remotely interested in getting anyone "in trouble" or fired from a job "

you are doing a disservice to Carnival, this person needs to get out of the service business and go wash dishes. If a server in my restaurant asked for a tip, she would be immediately terminated.

Shake my head! That's what managers are for, it's up to a them to manage, help and if necessary weed out bad employees. A person on vacation doesn't need to go around getting people fired and having that on her conscious.

This is the scummiest thing I've read on the internet today (just woke up in fairness).

Cannot believe you would call for someone to go out of their way to get someone fired. That's not stepping up to the plate, that's paving your way to hell or at least miserable Karma!

  13. I don't understand why people think saving food in their room for later is a workable solution to free room service. There's no way to heat anything up, who knows when the fridge was last cleaned and dang it I want to be served not have to plan how I'm going to get my late night snack at lunch time!
